My dad has a colecovision from his childhood which still kinda works. We played it once, which was really fun. I usually beat him at videogames but he could beat me at donkey kong and that one rocky boxing game like he was 16 again. Great memory!

I had one. It was the first system that introduced me to Nintendo characters and it was one of the few times Nintendo produced games for non Nintendo systems.

I bought one of these in either 82 or 83. You're right, Donkey Kong was an amazing pack-in. In fact it was the major reason I got the system in the first place.

The Colecovision still holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first system I ever owned, and I had a huge collection to boot. Sadly, I sold it when I was in middle school, so I could buy an NES, but it was so amazing while it lasted. It really was the system to beat at the time, as most of the ports blew the competition away, it wasn't even close. Even today when some play the system for the first time, they are always blown away by how great the games are when compared to the other consoles of the time.

Hi I live in Canada. When the Colecovision came out, they were so hard to get, I had to reserve one, the only one I could find from many stores called..I had to drive 85 miles to get mine. It was a stormy day and I'll never forget it. On the way back I ditched my car. Luckily there was no damage to the Colecovision or the car lol. We made it home, set it up and what a system. Still have it. Bought most of the attachments, the ball tracker, steering wheel, special joysticks, and the Atari 2600 adapter. Ladybug, Turbo, Pole Position, are all awsome games. There are so many great games for this console. I just wanted to share that with you. That's how I got mine. Lol gaming history!!!

That’s a great story. I love the way you were more worried about the ColecoVision than your car 🤣 I completely agree with you about the ColecoVision. If they’d have sold them in the U.K. early doors, they would have sold out.

An addam could play all the games but was a computer, had a keyboard and printer. You could also buy an adapter to turn the Colecovision into an Adam too. It was truly a revolutionary machine. My brother was in the back seat hanging on to the Colecovision when we went in down a 30 foot bank. He was bound and determined to keep it safe. Lol

I loved Carnival in the arcade but in recent years couldn't get it fully working on MAME, however I discovered this version for Colecovsion emulation and I agree, what a superb port of a really cool and fun arcade game! River Raid looks like it scrolls less smoothly than the original VCS version. Nearly went halves with a friend on Colecovision + Turbo. Zaxxon enthralled me, was amazed by it and it was so intriguing seeing various versions appear on consoles and home computers. ps nice to hear you mention Maria Whittaker... good lord....

Played it on my friend’s machine, and was envious compared to my Atari 2600. I thought Smurf’s Revenge looked like the cartoon. Shame he didn’t have too many games. Haven’t played games in years and I am thinking of starting again. Playing ColecoVision will be top of my list.

No better place to start, right back to the beginning. Every game is downloadable now, plus many more homebrew. Thanks for watching. Please check out my other vids and subscribe if you like what you see.

Only just seen this. Memories....got my coleco when it was at the end of its life, got the console, five games and the steeribg wheel/turbo game package all for £120 from Woolies. ( my mum originally got talked into buying a C16, when it first came out, in currys. It didnt work so ended up with a coleco instead)
As for the adam that was going to be the personal computer add on for the console. 21:00

Great memories there, C16 would have been decent as well if it worked. Some classic games on that computer. But ColecoVision unbelievable for the time. Please subscribe and share, share, share 👍🏻

Good to see Hero on this list. Absolute underrated classic. My mate had a Colecovision and we used to play Hero and Venture for hours. Hated that controller though.

@@ClassicReplay it was a terrible contraption, made your hands hurt after a while. The console was and still is great, it was like a thinking man’s 2600.

Mousetrap and Venture... My god, how I played those back at the day! They were and are, wonderful conversions! Colecovision was a wonderful machine. I bought it, as it got heavily discounted, but enjoyed it totally. Still have it, PSU is dead, though... I should buy a replacement some day...

@@ClassicReplay You write / speak in a really entertaining manner; it's their loss by not tuning in.
That said, this type of video is still relatively niche. I'd be really proud of the content as the number of views doesn't tell the whole story.

I still play the original hardwares of the
    Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️.
And as i also play the original Atari 2600 and IntelliVision games on my
    PlayStation 2,
it would be retrospectively awesome to
give a try for the ColecoVision 😺👍🕹️.
I mean, the ColecoVision games look and sound awesome - especially for the 1980's 😺👍🕹️.

i would disagree with you about donkey kong playing like the arcade since all screens have modifications such as missing girders on the barrel and rivet levels and no "I-beams" on the elevator level along with the missing conveyor belt level
