- How to remove camera background in OBS without a green screen? In this OBS Studio tutorial, I show you how to remove your background without a green screen in OBS. Follow the steps below to install OBS background Removal plugin:
1. Navigate to obsproject.com/forum/resource... and select Go to download.
2. Scroll down and download the correct version for your OS.
3. Open the background removal plugin compressed file.
4. Copy the data and obs-plugins folders.
5. Open a file explorer on your PC and navigate to the OBS folder. It should be C:\Program Files\obs-studio
6. Paste the copied plugin folders into this folder.
Follows the steps below to remove OBS webcam background:
1. Right click the source for your webcam and select Filters.
2. Select the plus symbol under Audio/Video Filters and add Background Removal.
3. Change the settings to meet your webcam setup.
4. Select a bright green color for the background color.
5. Select the plus symbol under Effects Filters and add Chroma Key.
6. Select Close
7. Add the Source for your background such as Image or Media Source for a video.

Is it working if i use my facetime hd camera instead of of external camera?
Hi, how do I get the GPU option? There is nothing in the 'Inference Device' to pick except for 'CPU'. I'm using an Apple M1 Max. Thanks
A lot of us are unable to see anything that says background removal, any idea why this is? OBS is up to date and the 2 files have been copy pasted into the obs folder.
This has been the only way i've found to remove backgrounds without having to pay to also remove the software's watermark, thanks!

This was an excellent tutorial. super helpful and step by step. the only issue I had was copying over those folders. those folders already existed. so I had to look inside those folders and move the files across to the corresponding folders in the existing OBS studio folders
Man whenever I look for tutorials I usually have to go through like 5 of them just to get a halfway decent one, but man you're the first one I found when looking into this and you made it very concise and easy to follow, thanks a bunch!

I download plugin but I think you guys changed something. there is no option for picking background color anymore, can you help me?

@@embranken Yeah, I don't know what they changed. To fix this, I downloaded an older version of the plugin. If you scroll down you can keep looking for other versions. I downloaded the 0.4.0 (which was in page 3), and that fixed it.

For those commenting about the option to insert a background color being gone, the plugin now uses transparency, which will allow you to insert any picture or other media into your scene behind your webcam image. I assume this is more efficient than chroma key, but either way this works fine.

@@XgamerStream It's automatic. Your video capture device (webcam) should be above the other elements on the list in your scene.
@@FJamesPrice But thats missing the point isnt it? Putting your webcam on top of your image, does not do anything at all about removing the background of your webcam. It just colors your background a bit, you still see all the objects in your room behind you. Unless I misinterpreted what you said

Question: Background Removal is NOT available in A/V filters, but is available in "Effects Filters". Has this simply been moved to another area? It still seems to operate the same as you mention, although I don't seem to have any options for greenscreen/etc.

I copy and pasted the background remover files in the obs folder but it only shows up under effects not audio/video. what am i doing wrong?
newer versions should show under "effect filters"
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! I have a Mac, so the color option wasn't available to make a green screen. I'm still messing with it tho. Seems, the more I try to blur the background, the more computing power it takes, making my video VERY choppy.
