There were good neighbors among the Kurds
אלו שלא היו טובים, רצחו הרבה יהודים
Those who were not good, killed many Jews
עד היום נעלמו עקבותיהם של אב ובנו
To this day, the traces of father and son have disappeared
היו רוצחים את היהודי כדי לשדוד את הפרידה שלו
They would murder the Jew to rob his mule
האם הכורדים הם אלה שהרגו ביהודים
Are the Kurds the ones who killed the Jews?
הם היו שודדים את הכסף ונעלמים
היהודים שסחרו עם המוסלמים היו נרצחים
The Jews who traded with the Muslims were murdered

אז שלמה בכה ואמר עכשיו יהרגו את אבי
So, Shlomo cried and said now they will kill my father
הוא רץ לביתו של עבד אל כרים
He ran to Abdulkarim's house
אשתו של עבד אל כרים האיצה בו להציל את היהודי
Abdulkarim's wife urged him to save the Jew
אז הוא הלך אל בית-התה ופגש את הכורדים שם
So, he went to the teahouse and met the Kurds there
הוא הורה להם לשבת בשקט וכינה אותם כלבים
He ordered them to sit still and called them dogs
עבד אל-כרים אמר להם [לכורדים האחרים], שבו בשקט
Abdulkarim said to them [the other Kurds], sit quietly
אמר להם, אומר לכם רק משפט אחד
He told them, I tell you only one sentence
אם המוסלמי לא הרע ליהודי, היהודי לעולם לא יעז להתריס נגד המוסלמי
If the Muslim is not evil to the Jew, the Jew will never dare to defy the Muslim
אתם תהיו אשמים עוד מאה שנה אם אפילו תיפגע תרנגולת של היהודי
You will be guilty for another hundred years if even one of the Jew's chickens is harmed
הוא הציל אותו מידם
אז הוא מת ואשתו הזמינה כמה יהודים להלוויה
So, he died and his wife invited some Jews to the funeral
היא אמרה ליהודים אתם תלכו אתנו כמו יתר האנשים, אל תפחדו
She told them you will go with us like the rest of the people, don't be afraid
אסור היה ליהודים לשבת בבית האבלים ולדבר עם יתר האנשים
Jews were not allowed to sit in the house of mourning Kurds and talk to other people
אז מי גזל את כל הרכוש שלכם?
So, who stole all your property
אלו המוסלמים
These are the Muslims
האם מדובר בכורדים מוסלמים?
Are they Muslim Kurds
כן, הם אלו שהיו שם, הכורדים המוסלמים
Yes, they are the ones who were there, the Muslim Kurds
כל הזהב נשאר לכורדים
All the gold remains for the Kurds
הכול נשאר בשבילם
Everything is left for them
לא אפשרו לנו למכור, סגרו את החנויות
They didn't allow us to sell, they closed the shops
לא התירו לנו למכור
We were not allowed to sell

والدتي الأن عمرها يقارب ٩٠ سنه التي ولدت وترعرت في احدى القرى الأشورية في شمال العراق ( لا اريد ذكر اسم القرية) تحكي لنا عن اليهود وتذكرهم بالخير وتقول ان تجار اليهود كانوا يأتون بالبضاعة من المدن الى قراهم بعد الظهر في المواسم الحارة لكي يتجنبوا قطاع الطرق من الاكراد من قتلهم وسلب اموالهم وبضاعتهم.لم يتجرأوا السفر في الصباح او المساء في الصيف خوفا من القتل والسلب.
