Ps. I don't know if you're familiar with Brook Christ fishing channel, but she hand makes lobster 🦞 tickle sticks and nets, and they look freaking amazing. Her reviews are amazing on her products that she makes by hand. In case y'all were interested, just wanted to share. Love y'all ❣️
We used nets and tickle sticks in the old days. The issue with the net is it drags through the water significantly slowing down the process. REALLY appreciate the suggestion, though! Keep them coming!

I live in central fl so I booked a stay at skipjacks and limited out. As me and my wife were eating the lobster we were saying thanks to south Florida fishing couple

I found a lot of lobsters, but they were all shorts off Tavernier.
Mmmm, strange, we found very few shorts this year so far. Tavernier is usually a great area. Will probably be very productive later in the season. 🤔

Quick question on Florida loberting. Can scuba gear be used or is everything free diving?
Elizabeth, the same compassion you have for lobsters is afforded by me to blue crabs. A ice pick to the brain area finishes them off and as a added bonus, if you're steaming them, the claws remain on the crab.
Yes, you can use SCUBA gear to catch lobsters here in the Keys you cannot spear them like you can in the Bahamas.

What is the reason Florida has a mini-season before its regular season? Conservation?
So they open recreational mini season before the commercial fishermen can harvest. It’s because the commercial guys take 100’s at a time, so this gives recreational fishermen 1/2 a chance to get some lobsters early.

If your going to film, you need to measure bugs underwater, not on boat fyi
We do measure in the water and we double measure on the boat. It’s pretty boring to keep in showing every single measurement, so we cut some of that out.
