Thanks for this - really helpful! I agree - it's pretty hard to find a genuine review. I have one question though - let's say that you're getting ready for a trip and you can take only one camera with you. Which one would you choose - the x4 or something else?

iPhone first. Also, ahem, X4 so tiny it could fit in any bag.

      which camera do you bring?

Especially thanks for the down-to-earth review of this camera: on youtube too many hype slogans.

Appreciate the comment. Time for more honesty here, right?

I’ve had the GoPro max 360 and it’s okay for what it can do, but I’ve found I rarely use it because of quality. I’ve been contemplating trying the X4 and was looking for a more honest review of it. I spend a lot of time capturing in direct sunlight and have seen some things on overheating if it’s not windy. Have you had any issues with that or any other flakiness? I’m getting tired of all my GoPro cameras because of constant buggy issues with freezing, crashing, and sometimes overheating. Thanks for your review, glad I came across it. :)

Hi--I've had no overheating whatsoever, but then, I never let it run for longer than 10 or 15 minutes. Holding it by my side as I ride a bike down a trail. Picking up shots on a hot air balloon. Walking down the street. You know the drill. However, in July I want to make a complete travel video with only the Insta360 X4, using every feature--from double sided lens to single, and every camera mode. I want to see how it fares, or if will look especially weird. Hopefully I'll get this done soon. Thanks for chiming in.

Hopefully they release an 8K follow up to the ONE RS 1 inch. The X4 is fun, but the low light performance is terrible. That 1 inch sensor is needed.

It's a tool for a job. Don't use a hammer on a screw. Personally i don't find reframing takes radically longer than normal editing, and it means you don't have to spend time or attention in getting the right shot at the outset - great on family occasions and suchlike when you can enjoy taking part without spending the time glued to a viewfinder, seeing the event kind of second hand. As for exaggerated titles of other's videos about the X4 - well, that's how you get views, sadly!

All great points---I edit video and photos all day, so editing isn't something that's foreign to me. I think for average consumer though, they don't realize what they're in for. For the record, I love Insta360 products and I can't imagine making a travel video without them--in bits and pieces. I've never done a complete episode on one, though I suppose I should try one of these days. Thanks for your note.
