When a former UFC champ tells the audience that most conflicts can be resolved with communication, you know it’s goddamn true.

Also people should learn communication/negotiation skills. I recommend Chris Voss's book or his masterclass on negotiation. Really underrated and really unfortunate how communication skills are not taught in schools.

The ego very true I learned that through competing with yourself I better then with others you rise your standards let’s say you compete against others you win or compare you surpass them now what as long as you compete against yourself and what you want from life and do better then you were yesterday and you use your priorities as a gauge should you do this or that from what you want ego let it stay out of it when you compete it’s just skill never put your identity into it if you believe you surpass him and you do or if you follow that chart in your head your better but then you don’t really care I thought about it a lot and now compete against yourself you’ll have higher standards idc if you don’t understand me you will as you think about it or if your experienced enough

I'd thought your testosterone levels would make you go out to pick a fight to impose your domination, then piss on a tree or something, not calling names on random people. I resonate with Rob so much, being slammed on your head by someone is the most humbling thing. Practically shattered my ego, I’m a lot more calm and logical in confrontation because of this. If someone is loud and obnoxious they haven’t been punched in the mouth hard enough, just my opinion.

They have head gear and gloves on, it was often hilarious but at least it was in a protected environment. They dont hurt anyone because most of them cant punch for sht. The part where he says "come to the gym" really made me laugh. I remember during my days of Thai and BJJ we would get those "tough guys" coming in for a free trial class. The tapout shirt and UFC couch expert full of testosterone types. We always knew immediately that they were bullies and were going to act reckless so our professor or Kru would always roll/spar with them first because they knew that A) the moron was going to try to hurt someone and B) they wanted to either humble them or scare them away. Suffice to say, it worked every time. I would say that 90% of them never came back for a 2nd class 😂

I mean i get the point. But sometimes talking doesn’t work. Like in ice hockey the ref just let them go, if they fight. Otherwise they will gonna find an other way to hurt each other. The same on the streets. So sometimes fighting it respectfully out. Is better than beefing and just involving innocent people.

I used to get into fights all the time in the 90's...we have BJJ and MMA schools EVERYWHERE now. If you want to fight go to a place where everybody is okay with it, you have protection, a referee, and a very good chance that everyone is going home mostly in tact.

  • @shtroizn

Man - Rob is a class act! Not only an amazing fighter, but such a humble, intelligent down-to-earth and funny guy! He represents what MMA should be all about - skills and respect, not trash talk and picking fights. McGregor and Masvidal can learn a thing or two. In this day and age however, they are the ones getting the fat checks, Robert can probably only dream about such sums of money. That's how Dana sells ppv's, sadly. As a business tactic - it sells, but the price is that the UFC has turned into a circus.
