When a former UFC champ tells the audience that most conflicts can be resolved with communication, you know it’s goddamn true.
Also people should learn communication/negotiation skills. I recommend Chris Voss's book or his masterclass on negotiation. Really underrated and really unfortunate how communication skills are not taught in schools.
Some of the best nights of my life out were punching on, loved a good scrap back in the day. Never knew what was going to happen without refs
Daniel T. That‘s not what school‘s are for they are just there to program us like robots to be workers for the rest of their life‘s school doesn‘t teach important things you need they only look at how far they can push bs on to people and have them still do it to see who has the patience to do something even tho he doesn‘t want to
Former and future Champ
@@benhowell5790 In other words, you're a bit of a dickhead.

😂😂
Hahah lmao
This man beat Yoel Romero TWICE.
Think about that.
Yoel breaks people , even tho rob won twice he took serious damage. Comparable to Robbie and Rory , Rory was never the same after UFC 189
I feel like Rob won the first fight and the second fight was a draw. They both took hella damage.
Izzy and Costa both beat Yoel Romero
Erasyl Nash they didn’t beat him twice tho
@@erasylnash6697 costa beat romero izzy won on points with leg kicks
The young warrior seeks war to prove himself the old warrior avoids it because he already won the war with himself
Im going to copy it too
And that’s why you are still a young
Why fight another man war when there is no justice or peace to be had violence is a never ending war that only caused more violence the old warrior is stronger because he no longer rushes to fight out of of a need to prove him self to others the old warrior is content with himself dosnt mean he’s weak
The ego very true I learned that through competing with yourself I better then with others you rise your standards let’s say you compete against others you win or compare you surpass them now what as long as you compete against yourself and what you want from life and do better then you were yesterday and you use your priorities as a gauge should you do this or that from what you want ego let it stay out of it when you compete it’s just skill never put your identity into it if you believe you surpass him and you do or if you follow that chart in your head your better but then you don’t really care I thought about it a lot and now compete against yourself you’ll have higher standards idc if you don’t understand me you will as you think about it or if your experienced enough
@STAVE It's so ironic seeing the old warrior alpha male 100% testosterone level silverback wolf arguing around in a YT video's comment section. I'd thought your testosterone levels would make you go out to pick a fight to impose your domination, then piss on a tree or something, not calling names on random people. But it's ok, anyone can be a keyboard warrior, it's easier.
Robert is my favorite ufc fighter. He is such a humble dude and he’s so honest. He has talked about being poor, being depressed. He is not a tool bag like a lot of ufc fighters.
him, holloway, poirier, are some of the most humble dudes
Are you Australian
Honestly, MMA is in a good place in terms of quality of character today. There are just notable fighters who are tools, but even Conor has changed
So so true. That's the only reason I got into fighting because of the humbleness and the true respect between two good energy humans and afterwards the respect and appreciation of the energy they both gave eachother that night. Were warriors of light. I'll never forget the fights I had with people I respected. It's something we both share with eachother and win or lose I will be happy that about this experience I appreciate and thank them for the opportunity and time ⏱🌟🌍 good energy makes the world go round fellas. Even us warriors 🔑🥊 its so easy to hate so why not appreciate 😁🤣🖐 to those who keep who they are. your appreciated
I agree he is my favorite too and Daren Till. Both guys are so humble and friggin hilarious!
You can’t not respect Rob. What a guy. Interview was very good too.

I firmly believe bar fights between men are just to show everyone how tough they are... put them in a room and they’ll talk it out.

Jorge: " I disagree"
Haha that's 💯 what he would say
"Super Necessary"

As Robert said if your not getting paid for it than why do but Jorge got paid for it 👌🏼💯
@Suvojit Mukherjee he walks around 190 pounds he cuts down to 170 you fucking casual.
Being from uk ive never really bothered or listened too Whittaker. After the close fight with till and the way he conducts himself its hard not too like him. A real classy bloke albeit a hard as nails bloke. Top guy
Yeah, I knew he was alright but after seeing al this and that really made me a fan
Hes a real one 1 💪 hope him and till fight again for a championship fight in the future.
Aye dem fists hard like tupac
Fucking casuals
From England as well and going into this fight I couldnt decide who I wanted to win, for an English man to support an aussie the guy has to be a top bloke
Look at the mans eyes hes a good soul. A real great example of what a well rounded human being is. Not afraid to be vulnerable, humble and honest. Great man
Most common thing is that apparently every bloke is golden gloves boxer 😂 and a true fact from my experience as a muay Thai fighter is that the most scary looking bloke in the gym usually can’t fight and the guy who looks like he wouldn’t even argue with anyone is the one who will put you to sleep
yeah not ALWAYS but pretty close, i take muay thai kickboxing and the dude in my gym thatll sleep everybody, definitely looks like he would sleep everybody, but alot of the other mean lookin dudes aside from him cant fight. we also have an 8 year old that just the way he carries himself around the gym and how good he is already, that kids gonna be a problem in high school for any bully 😂😂
Jean-Charles Skarbowsky comes to mind lol
True but not always.
So true so effing true
Theres always levels, just because you know stances, pad work and slips doesn't mean you can fight, when someone is hitting you most ppl get mad and start bailing hay. The ones who know defence and footwork angles is the ones whos been around
Rob seems like such a genuine bloke! Can’t help but like the guy!!!
no worries mate.. its on me
Love him
Good use of english terminology
It's refreshing to hear a person who knows how to defend himself saying that most conflicts can be solved peacefully.

Rob is a legend, so glad to see him back after a break to be with his family and help his daughter recover.
Rob seems like a such a cool, level guy. So grounded
Wonder boy better watch out, The reaper might come for his nicest dude in MMA
I think it’s just ego. Mike Tyson references this in a lot of interviews, deep down you want to prove how tough you are by physically beating another person. I resonate with Rob so much, being slammed on your head by someone is the most humbling thing. Practically shattered my ego, I’m a lot more calm and logical in confrontation because of this. If someone is loud and obnoxious they haven’t been punched in the mouth hard enough, just my opinion.
Hahahahahahahahahaha
@@big_rig5722 something funny?
@@ryanmaka9471 facts bro a big hit is always a humbling wake up call haha
I say that always, that tough guy persona immediately goes out the window in MMA gyms. Everyone is mostly humble and people begin realizing fighting is about the mind and conditioning of the body
I used to think fighting was cool “proving my worth” or whatever then you end up really hurting somebody and it feels like shit because you take that insecurity out on somebody else and you become the thing you hate
Massive fan of Whittaker after listening to a few of his interviews. Probably the most genuine, honest and nice guy in the UFC. You can tell he's been brought up very humble. Great to see money hasn't got to his head!
that electrician analogy killed me off, perfect!
1:22 Sounds like Cowboy Cerrone.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s kind of funny nobody talks about how dudes can’t control their emotions and that’s why idiots get into fights constantly or go looking for fights because they’re fucked up inside emotionally due to bad upbringing.
Listen to me, not every twat had a bad upbringing, some twats are just twats.
🤫 shhhh (whispers) us guys aren't supposed to tell anyone, but I totally agree
Or alcohol just makes some people plain stupid
This was me for a long time. Rough upbringing, violence normalised and a lot of bullying/ loneliness - as a kid and hell even as a young adult I had no answer to any difficult situation except to get emotional and end up fighting. It wasn't until I got married and saw how my wife looked at me whenever I was losing my temper that I realised I was acting as an insecure boy and not a mature man.
@@Adam-ui3ot or maybe you are a reductionalist that doesnt care for individual cause making you part of the problem?🤔
I would like to apologize to Robert Whittaker. I never watched any of his interviews prior to yesterday. And his looks actually made me judge thim like he's a douchebag and a thug. I am wrong.
He's my favorite
Are you living in the 1920's bro
No harm done if you learn from it bro, never judge a book by its cover🤷🏻♂️🤝
A thug lmao ik what kinda person u are, sadly there's many of these kinds of people in the fan base
He's being nice don't be toxic dude
If a street fight has to break out its really just because at least one person failed at being a mature sensible human being
Rob seems like such a chill guy
I love it when the host asks and answers all the questions.
You gotta like Robert! Straight up.
Really like this format buttsmarrrrrrnnnn!
My gym is near a school where teenagers fight for the stupidest things. Sometimes we pass them by we go "ey, we have a ring in the gym. Settle it properly in there." They have head gear and gloves on, it was often hilarious but at least it was in a protected environment. They dont hurt anyone because most of them cant punch for sht. Often they just blow off steam and tired within 30 seconds. Some stay to train which is good.
Thats the most grown up thing i have ever heard from kids. After the fight they will be friends
You're really do a service to the public and those kids. They end up respecting themselves and each other, I bet.
I really think a ring and some gloves/headgear should be mandatory at schools. Got beef, tell the principal and go to the ring. No need to suspend anyone, nobody gets truly hurt, hopefully.
@@brandondavis7777 That is actually a brilliant idea. Teach kids about weight classes and cardio and everything that goes along with it.
This is such an honest 5½ min conversation. The world needs more of this... *Men* need more of this
Is this guy interviewing Rob or himself?
On god😂
Tell me about it......
just seems like two mates having a chat to me? better format than an interview thats for sure
Hhahahaha nice
This guy? 🧐
This was a great sit down with Whittaker... I remember when you did this one. He is entirely correct in his statements about the one's who don't try to act like a bad asses. They are the TRULY dangerous ones. It's the loud mouths who usually end up kissing the floor! Two years later your still going strong mate! Thanks for all your great content for these many years. Much luv from Texas USA!
One thing I learned at the bar is that when a guy says he's a fighter, 9 out of 10 times.. he's not a fighter or maybe a person who isn't very good at it
Good man there. I agree.
I try to do the same, n i learned pride is just pride. Not fighting actually takes more heart than just teeing off . Its not easy to be strong, but it is worth it.
such a genuine guy
He got a new fan after this, great
Didn't know Batman was Irish

Robert is such a respectable nice bloke
Rob is such a nice guy,u can see it in his eyes
not to mention fighting on canvas/mats/pads vs concrete if you get dropped its very dangerous on the street
@taylorgordon93 on the back of his head? lucky he didnt lose his memory thats full on aye
@Victor Palacios he's laughing about it you little girl
Yea a bus driver in my hometown died from hitting the concrete after getting sucker punched. He was a dad too :(
@Daniel Black
I strongly agree. I don't know if people realize it can kill, or it can life lasting effects. I hope they don't, cause if they do the problem is much deeper
@Daniel Black because grown men have such low testosterone that they cant control their emotions
How can anyone feel hate or dislike towards Robert hes such an amazing human being, one of the nicest blokes and the best pugilists in the sport
"Either become humble, or life will humble you." - Mike Tyson
The problem with street fight is you never know the outcome, you will fight 5 guys and you will only have busted lips but the 6th may end with a broken arm
There is something inherently cool about Rob. He is a smart, thoughtful dude.
Gonkosan Roberto I think is cus he has Steve Irwin accent 😎
9/10 fights are unnecessary
nah.. there SUPER necessary
murtazwa Bruhh tbh most fights gotta do with ego either you’re fighting over a girl or you’re fighting cuz somebody hurt your feelings and you don’t know how to control emotions most fights are over girls tho

This man is so humble and smart I respect this dude a lot! I been in lot of streetfights won some lost some but sometimes even when I won these dudes could not take a loss and came back at me with a gun or s knife I been shot and stabbed for nothing been arresten for nothing just for some bullshit ego shit! Like my mans Rob said if you wanna fight join the gym then you can fight real fighters if you wanna be tough not looking for victums in the club or some unfair weak bullshit and a punk feels hard. Go to the gym if you hard!
This guy stays humble and always stays cool. You will never see robert talk crap about any fighter.
The best role model in ufc
The part where he says "come to the gym" really made me laugh. I remember during my days of Thai and BJJ we would get those "tough guys" coming in for a free trial class. The tapout shirt and UFC couch expert full of testosterone types. We always knew immediately that they were bullies and were going to act reckless so our professor or Kru would always roll/spar with them first because they knew that A) the moron was going to try to hurt someone and B) they wanted to either humble them or scare them away. Suffice to say, it worked every time. I would say that 90% of them never came back for a 2nd class 😂
Robs got a podcast. Whaaat
He such a good dude, with good wit
Great interview as ex landlord the amount of unnecessary fights I see but like the old school fighter 👊🏻

Robert Whittaker is a fucking legend.
Beard looks great Ned.
It's easy to fall to agression and anger, it's harder to be the bigger man and walk away from such confrontations.
What a nice nice dude, many of street fights leave people with lifelong injuries, stop the culture of violence
“ if you’re good at something never do it for free”
Wholesome Aussie conversation here
Seen a dude get dropped couple of years back whacked his head on the pavement and never regained consciousness died right there lives fucked families shattered avoidance and walk away if you can people shit gets real fast out there be safe
UFC fighters should talk about
this more. theyre role models for this stuff they need to let people know whats up
What a guy top man 👍
Rob seems like such a nice bloke ,he's very refreshing in such an ego driven sport
Agree w him. Especially here in US. Streetfighting not worth it unless youre paid. Otherwise you run the risk of being shot outside a controlled arena
And the sad thing is, people don’t fight anymore. They just shoot or jump you. It’s sad
Rob is not wrong, I have used words to avoid physical altercations on many occasions. Sometimes it cannot be avoided but the vast majority of the time it works.
Intelligence, coolness, respect : Robert Whittaker.
Most people with cop on know this and have this attitude (even fighters). To me it shows good character and most of the time it makes you a better person for it. Also more often than not it means their not the person to start shit with.
That electrician comparison makes sense fr. You're taking a fat risk for free you either win or lose and whether they stomp you out or steal your stuff after is part of the risk so what's the point
Apart from the good words from Robert I personally got into a stupid confrontation 'partly me being an arsehole 'struck the guy once with an elbow knocked him out he ended up quite badly injured and I got 4 years in prison. That shit happens alot.
Pride.
Seems like a good guy
Idk why kinda casual here but I really like this bloke
I mean i get the point. But sometimes talking doesn’t work. Like in ice hockey the ref just let them go, if they fight. Otherwise they will gonna find an other way to hurt each other. The same on the streets. So sometimes fighting it respectfully out. Is better than beefing and just involving innocent people.
"Can i ask why was Batman in the fuckin pub?" lmao
Dude Rob is exactly like my older brother
I used to get into fights all the time in the 90's...we have BJJ and MMA schools EVERYWHERE now. If you want to fight go to a place where everybody is okay with it, you have protection, a referee, and a very good chance that everyone is going home mostly in tact.
Man - Rob is a class act! Not only an amazing fighter, but such a humble, intelligent down-to-earth and funny guy! He represents what MMA should be all about - skills and respect, not trash talk and picking fights. McGregor and Masvidal can learn a thing or two. In this day and age however, they are the ones getting the fat checks, Robert can probably only dream about such sums of money. That's how Dana sells ppv's, sadly. As a business tactic - it sells, but the price is that the UFC has turned into a circus.
