  • This was one of the most memorable parts of our Silk Road trip so far.
Arriving in Linze I was nervous that regional China would become more challenging to travel around, but we found the complete opposite. Locals were very happy to accommodate us and went above and beyond to make our experience seamless.
The yurt stay was so much fun, it's really worth making your way there if you have the time, it's only about an hour or so drive from Zhangye City. I could never have imagined such amazing natural wonders existed in the world let alone in China.
When you return to the city, I highly recommend staying at The Silk Road Traveler's Hostel. The owner speaks good English and has lots of great food recommendations. It's super clean, cosy and was one of the cheapest places we stayed.
    Locations
    1. Kaoshan Daying Self-driving Tour Guesthouse
    2. Fish noodles
    3. Colourful Danxia Geopark
    4. Yugur/Yellow Uyghur restaurant
    5. Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon
    6. Mati Temple
    7. Ming Qing pedestrian street night market (south of Ganquan Park
*The easiest way to find these if you're traveling is to paste the shop names in to Gaode maps 高德地图 (also called Amap). Or you can try Apple Maps (Apple operates normally in China and maps are quite good/all in English).
