I wouldn’t recommend this as an audition song, unless it’s for a choir. Songs from Disney movies shouldn’t be used when auditioning for musicals. Anastasia is now considered a Disney movie. I know that’s unfair but that’s showbiz at times.
she's got some killer vocals to sing that last note for that long, at a forte, project, act with her entire body, and make people feel things. she is incredible. i wish i could see it live
I can sing the last note in a forte and I HOPE I act with my entire body, it took a while to learn and I am in NO WAY at Christy's level I respect her so much and she's great!
I actually find that holding the last note is no problem if sung as intended but trying to sing it quietly in my room in head voice, I always run out of air.
Christy was born to play this role!!! I loved the movie as a child and was so nervous I would not like Anastasia , but Christy is PHENOMENAL!!!!! I'm in awe!!! Her Voice is so full of emotion and passion and pure talent!
i named my cat after this movie after the movie first came out, right after she passed away was when i first heard about the musical, felt like a hug from my little girl!

I was born in Russia as a baby and was adopted and grew up in the USA and this song is literally so true for me because I've wanted to find my birth family for so long. Every time I hear this song I get so emotional. I may not be a princess (I mean I don't know that I'm not lol) but this story is pretty much the same story as mine.
Just saw this in NYC a couple weeks ago, and literally the second Christy started singing this song I started crying (I was embarrassed and trying so hard not to lol). So many wonderful childhood memories were brought back, and she is an amazing Anastasia.
second time I heard it I got chills and the next time brings tears and every time both LOL. I have never seen this live and do not have emotional connection to this song or this musical that you do and her pure emotion and talent and soul is felt through her vocals in this song alone.
Saw it last week and it was everything I hoped it would be! I was scared of not liking it, because let's be honest there are a lot of flops in adaptations lately, but I really enjoyed the show! And the cast was amazing! ❤️
I saw her sing this in NYC and it blew my mind. At the end of every song there were tears running down my face from pure joy and emotion. In person she is even more breathtaking - her expressions, her intensity, and volume - it’s almost too much to bear. Best broadway show I’ve ever seen
"People always say 'life is full of choices', no one ever mentions fear." To make a choice, a important one, which will really change your life, is very difficult indeed, because of the fear of failing. But this is the price if you wanna succeed.
Seeing Christy do this during the show and meeting her, like talking to her, was something I’ll never forget. She’s so nice and her voice is phenomenal. This role isn’t just for her, it is her. It is hers and no one can give the same feel that she gives. Like, oh my goooooddddd, the note at the end, she holds it out for forever until the blackout because this is the song before intermission. I got so emotional because of this musical and I’m very happy to have seen the show with my DB group.
Yes!! I went to NY a couple weeks ago for the first time and this was my first Broadway show. No regrets!! I bawled like a baby haha. My mom has never seen the movie and she went with me and she didn't know what to expect at all but she was crying by the end of the show! We both loved it!!
God I saw this live and I swear it changed my life. She just... I can't even explain it. She's phenomenal and I wish there was a better word to describe how wonderful this woman is.
It was such a treat to hear Christy perform this song at the Disney princess concert since I love this song! I loved it so much and ended up being one of my favorite moments from the show!
THIS HITS SO CLOSE TO HOME! 💙💙Make me think of my birth parents who died in Russia after I was born… put in orphanage at 3 adopted at 5 and happy with a loving adoptive family in America! Hope to visit Russia one day!
I was lucky enough to watch this broadway show. At first I was very hesitant to watch this show. This really inspired me and was a journey to the past. Christy was amazing, so passionate and was born to play this role.
Christy Altomare is amazing, she was perfect for this role. I had the pleasure of going to see Anastasia this past Saturday, and had the even greater pleasure of meeting her at the stage door. When I thanked her for making my birthday extra special she asked for my name, then she told my sister to start recording (since we had just taken a picture) and she started singing Happy Birthday. Truly the best birthday present I could have asked for.
Anastasia was one of my childhood favorites... when I think of it, I think of the love and admiration she shares with her grandmother and I always identified with that. I miss my grandma so much
i feel like this is oversharing for a youtube comment but. this song is so fucking important to me?? because i'm someone who's never really had a good relationship with my family at all and this song has kind of always been there for me. i loved anastasia as a kid, journey was the song that got me through my struggles with wanting to do theatre so bad despite everything in my life pushing against me, while it's a different context i completely understand anya's search for family and a home, and journey was the first song i felt proud performing?? and i've seen the show twice and both times i cried the hardest at this song!! and god it just means a lot to me and anya's my dream role and yeah!! (also fun fact, christy went to my high school !)

This song is great. It speaks directly to the feelings and innermost desires. Already the extremely successful, sensitive beginning of piano, chime and triangle immediately appeals emotionally. The singer is outstanding. She has a beautiful young, pure, clear and powerful voice. She sings very intimately, not only notes, she feels and lives this song. At first she begins quietly and very longingly, then you hear the gradually increasing determination and a positive striving forwards, a positive departure, up to the great finale, with great intensity in fortissimo and a great energy of certainty that everything will succeed.

It's on at Broadhurst Theater in NYC right now! I saw it yesterday, it was gorgeous and chilling, and I cried at least five different times.

The best song ever for this musical!
right in the feels.
The music at the beginning is the most beautiful. It's so magical.
a girl today sung this in my theater class and i genuinely fell in love
This song is so beautiful
I absolutely still love. ❤
Heart, don't fail me now!
Courage, don't desert me!
Don't turn back now that we're here.
People always say
Life is full of choices.
No one ever mentions fear!
Or how the world can seem so vast
On a journey ... to the past.
Somewhere down this road
I know someone's waiting
Years of dreams just can't be wrong!
Arms will open wide.
I'll be safe and wanted
Fin'lly home where I belong.
Well, starting now, I'm learning fast
On this journey to the past Home, Love, Family.
There was once a time
I must have had them, too.
Home, Love, Family,
I will never be complete
Until I find you...
One step at a time,
One hope, then another,
Who knows where this road may go
Back to who I was,
On to find my future.
Things my heart still needs to know.
Yes, let this be a sign!
Let this road be mine!
Let it lead me to my past
And bring me home...
At last!
Those first few notes fill me with so much emotion
1:48 I don't even know why but I always have tears in my eyes here
Because that’s the whole meaning of life!
Love and Family.
Purest essence of what we all really need...
