You don't just jump in somebody's car and request information, then feel offended when they don't give it to you.
Then automatically victimize yourself just because you're a female.
That's like a burglar breaking into someone's house and then calling the police on the homeowner because the homeowner attacked them.

But yes, she could've and should've verified his license plate and name just to be sure. But he too by refusing to say her name is acting pretty shady since that info he should have.
As to her "jumping in his car to request info and feeling offended" she's again following the protocol that the "What's My Name" movement asks. Him not wanting to give her a name or at least ask HER to say her own name (to see if it matched the name he has) is a red flag to me.
And that is NOTHING like a burglar calling the cops on a homeowner (but even then there is only so much force a homeowner is allowed to use unless the burglar has a weapon) The burglar was in the process of a crime while the "What's My Name" movement was literally born because a COLLEGE GIRL got murdered. And it's a sad reality that women (especially alone) more than men are targeted and killed so the movement is literally the opposite of what you said and the trying to make it seem like "females wanna be seen as victims" is also messed up...

I did rideshare for three years. My customers would come in and ask like this girl and I would say my name, ask hers and we would be on our way. No personal information was exchanged after this and all was well 98% of the time.

If you're picking up a random person trying to get a free ride, then good luck to them going to the boondocks or some random location because if it's not the right person, then they don't know where they're getting dropped off and it would be sketchy if they tried to change the destination halfway through.
Plus, don't we have the contact info on both sides? The right person will call eventually or the driver can call to verify.
I don't see the problem. It's literally a 2 sec question to verify. If a driver is that rude about doing what is technically Uber policy, that's a red flag to me.
BUT that said, I do agree that it should be required for rideshare drivers to share their photo as well to avoid these things...

As an Uber driver I do not even unlock the door unless the person tells me their name. He should not have let them in until the identification was established. On both sides.

Actually I'm for the girl on this one. I take Uber/Lyft all the time. I actually always ask for the driver to say their name first. REGARDLESS If it's a female or male. It's just for SAFETY. I would do the same if I were a dude.
Any driver can say yes to the name you ask like if i said "hi, are you Bob/Jane?" And they can say yes, and thats not their name. Also their profile pic must match them too.
Luckily they have this feature on the Uber app where they have a PIN # you can confirm with the driver to verify that's them.
I check the license plate, the driver name, and pin #.
If I were this girl and the driver isn't going to say their name, I would NOT get in the car, I would CANCEL the ride, and just order another ride. This driver is being weird. I actually had to do that with a FEMALE driver, she was giving me an attitude since she didn't want to say her name and she wanted me to enter the PIN # while i was in the car, noooo. I cancelled the ride and got someone way better, and it was a GUY.
I don't think the girl explained herself the greatest in this situation.
You do understand how scams work? Imagine you are a scammer wanting a free ride. You have the driver say your “name”. You get a free ride. Giving your name first to the driver is how the driver does not get scammed. You give your name. Driver gives his. You both confirm. And all is well.

Kinda not true. The plate could be valid but the "driver" could be a different person. This actually happened with me when the guy on the app was different from the actual driver that showed up in the car and I refused to get in. I later complained about the same to Uber & then they started a full fledged investigation only to find out this guy had been driving on another man's documents.

the defense is always “im not safe” when it’s them thats making the driver unsafe
