This sport will push so much until it really began to hurt more than help. Programmed or not, deadlifting that much is not athletic. I rather them have to deadlift 225, 25 times

What are you talking about?
They're not "training"...they're competing and being tested in the sport of fitness. They are athletes, not your average recreational cross fitters. This event would never be recommended for "training" or overall health and fitness.
