Go behind the scenes on a High School Senior Portrait Session. Follow along as we photograph in the studio as well as head outside. We even do some off camera lighting for dramatic sports portraits in the middle of the day.

Great video. You're so fortunate to have an old city to work in. Also, props to you for making all those cool props!

Thanks for the BTS!! Just ordered my first AD600 to go with some other strobes I have. Can't wait to start trying shots like this!!
Really enjoyed this video! I'm shooting a senior guy soon and this was super helpful for posing ideas. Those hurdle shots were amazing!

Excellent video, I'm getting into lighting and this was a great learning tool. Thanks.
Great work Ben. The athlete in the surrounding ally is awesome, had you been on the track it would not have been as dynamic as it is. Bet he and mom are thrilled with the shots.
thanks again dave!

Nice style.
Thank you!
great Senior session, i don’t think that young man could even take a bad photo! He looked very comfortable and your images of him were fantastic Ben! Definitely a lot of variety to choose from. Just out of curiosity, how long (approx) was that photo session and also what is the average length of time you generally do for the senior shoot sessions? thanks for sharing this BTS vid, good stuff!! 💪🏼💪🏼💖
Usually about an hour. Bit this one took about an hour and a half
On average what would you charge for a photo shoot like this?
That area outside looks familiar. Is this in North Georgia?
so for jumping, u were able to freeze action at 1/200 ? thanks
With the strobes on yes
How are you freezing motion at 1/200 of a second at F11?
Knocking down the ambient exposure and using the strobes as the main light source. The strobes are obviously faster that 1/200th of a second. If you were pixel peeping you would see some evidence of the ambient light causing just a little bit of ghosting blur. Not noticable when viewed at a normal size. Do it all the time.
Who's the guy?
Can you explain a little more on your focusing? Looks like youre setting the focus on your assistant and then framing back to the subject?
Depends on the shot. If I have a moving subject I will often prefocus where the subject should be when I snap the photo. When I do this I usually run a higher fstop
Does that dumpster make me look fat?
Yes
