    Really interesting seeing you pairing the watch and strap with other leather goods. Keep up the good work!

      Thank you!! It’s such a fun watch to wear. Have been thinking about doing a green leather strap too but haven’t pulled the trigger on that just yet! LOL! Thanks for watching!! Cheers!!

    Love this colour variant. Glad you finally found your cocktail time. I’ve been tempted for years now, as we’ve discussed in the past but I balk at the size. Oh and I’ve started a little review channel, Automatic Reviews. Started with a Tissot we share in common, the Seastar. Figured I love to talk about watches, so I might as well.

      visiblemode Heyyy! I went to your comment on my Seastar video first before coming to this one and I’m thrilled to be your first subscriber! And thanks for the comment here! I’m so glad I found it too, now I can move on to other things haha! Cheers - happy almost New Year!

    Hi Josh. Thank you very much for all your vids and sharing your knowledge with us. I have a quick question. By any chance, have you measured the time accuracy of your Seiko Mockingbird watch? Do you know if it gains / loses time and approximately how much per day? Reason why I ask is because I made a purchase of this beautiful watch, but the accuracy is all over the place. Mine mainly gains time, but the discrepancy is significant when I test it. I'd greatly appreciate your feedback. Thank you again.

    Good call on the strap, the lighter brown definitely goes much better with the watch

    Great review, love the matching. I have the Gimlet Cocktail time - having seen a green in person the green might be a prettier watch (the blues look good too). Surprised how well my watch has worn. I use it mostly as an office / work / after work bar watch (with brown shoes on) alternating with my Rolex Explorer (39 mk2) for black shoes. I love it. My original plan was to save for a golden GS snowflake, but I honestly think these Cocktails give you as much class (to most people’s eyes) and maybe a little more fun, for a lot less cash - keeping good time too.

      mky hou Hey there! Thanks for watching, and totally agreed with everything you mentioned here. On the note about the Grand Seiko Snowflake, check out the JDM Seiko Presage SARX055. I have a few videos on it but that will more than less give you the look and feel of a GS Snowflake for $1,000 instead of $5,000. I agree though - these are so much fun as beater/seasonal watches and you can’t feel bad about spending $300 on them! Cheers, and thanks again for stopping by.

    Hi Josh. I have the same time piece and was just wondering if you had the option of putting the fold over clasp on that strap?

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello! It is definitely an option (though you’ll have to install the strap upside down like Seiko does), I just prefer a classic buckle on a leather strap. But you could definitely use the included Seiko strap on it. :) Cheers!

    So much fun to watch the follow up video. I followed your advice, and if you time it right, Macy's is hands down the way to go. Love the watch, and even in less dramatic (low) light it's still spectacular because the polished indices become the highlight. Beautiful. Okay, I despise Shinola watches (mediocre quality and terribly overpriced), but you've sold me on the straps! Link to that honey gold strap? And even though probably long since out of stock, a link to that gorgeous sweater would be awesome! And the proper spelling of that shoe brand? I've got to check them out! Sorry to put you to work asking all these questions before you unplug and enjoy the holidays. You have exceptional taste and style, and I particularly love how you value durability in making purchase decisions. Thank you so much as always, and much love to you and John.

      Matthew Davis I was so excited to see your comment come through! I’m so glad you were able to get the watch from Macy’s and at a great deal, it sounds like!! I also despise Shinola watches hahaha and you’ll never see me review one on my channel. It seems to me that they prioritize material quality over interior mechanical quality (which is great for those of us who just go for the straps haha!) I compiled a few links for you below to a few items here. Shinola at one time had a longer version of the strap that I don’t see anymore, but the strap I have on it is linked there, it’s called “tan” and be sure to get the one with the contrast white stitching. Thanks again so much for all the fun conversation. And likewise, I hope you and yours have a WONDERFUL holiday and new year!!!!

      @@joshswatches you are so amazing!!! Thank you!!! A couple quick notes: The Shinola strap is the perfect length! I am so tired of standard 120/80mm straps! 115/75mm is perfect on my 6 3/4" wrist. And OMG maybe if I borrowed against my 401K I would be tempted buy 95% of what I've seen on Magnanni's website. My work puts me in dress shoes most of the time, and the styling is so spot on. I'm in love, the kind of giddy short of breath love that could get me into a lot of trouble! Hahaha! At least you brought me back to earth with some thoughtful, level headed Amazon fashion options! Whew! Thanks, and happy holidays!

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 4 lety

      Matthew Davis Hahaha!!! I actually agree the Shinola straps are the perfect length for my wrist also! But I think if my wrist were any bigger I’d need a longer one. Also on Magnanni, check out Neiman Marcus Last Call (hope this link takes you to filtered results), I’ve never ever paid full price for any of mine (I have 6 or 7 pairs). Nordstrom Rack online and in stores also usually has a decent selection of Magnanni as well. www.lastcall.com/His/Shoes/cat5920005_cat000002_cat000000/c.cat#userConstrainedResults=true&refinements=4294967137&page=1&pageSize=30&sort=PCS_SORT&definitionPath=/nm/commerce/pagedef_rwd/template/EndecaDriven&locationInput=&radiusInput=100&onlineOnly=&updateFilter=true&allStoresInput=false&rwd=true&catalogId=cat5920005&selectedRecentSize=&activeFavoriteSizesCount=0&activeInteraction=true

    Hey Josh.. I am thinking of getting either Mockingbird or Sarx 55.. Knowing you have owned and worn both watches for a longer time, which one of the two would u have picked? Which one is dressier ?

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 2 lety

      Hey there! So those are totally different watches, but between them I would absolutely go with the SARX055 if you can! It’s a standout piece and WAY more special and much better made than a cocktail time. I would say the mockingbird is dressier, to an extent, only because of how shiny it is. I have mine on a green leather strap from Molequine right now and it’s incredible, especially for fall & winter wear. But the 055 is infinitely more versatile. You can wear it both casually and formally, with any color, etc. And I think that’s worth thinking about with the big price difference between the two - the mockingbird is a third or less the price of the 055, but you’ll also probably get a third the wear out of it that you would an 055. You also get what you pay for in build quality, movement, etc. Hope this helps! Cheers!

    Awesome channel my friend! I have the SSA343j1 (light blue with power indicator version). It was a gift from my wife and I love it. I was curious though, does the plastic movement holder bother you? Everything about the watch was awesome but when I noticed the plastic holder it bugged me a little bit. I know it’s not something anyone will notice and probably only something watch guys think about haha. Please continue to make watch videos man. It’s really high quality content!

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 4 lety

      Joshua Alumbaugh Hi there! I totally get your concern/bother with the lower quality materials used in these pieces - I have to say that at the price point nothing really bothers me about these, or rather at the price point there’s nothing I can really complain about. But like I mentioned in the video I only paid about $250 or something for mine so I didn’t think that was a bad price to pay for it despite its flaws! Haha! Thanks so much for watching and for the wonderful comment, hope you have a wonderful holiday season and new year!!! Cheers!
