The gi is a mental trigger. Putting it on lets me know it's time to train. To put myself in that mindset. Techniques become more focused wearing the gi than they would be if not wearing the gi. It's another example of "The Right Clothes For the Job". You wouldn't wear a suit to sling fries at a fast food place. And you wouldn't wear a track suit to a corporate job interview. Put yourself in the Right Clothes to put yourself in the Right Mindset for accomplishing the task.

Hahaha yes. When I first started, it took me awhile to get used to it. I felt like I was training in a plastic bag. It did get more comfortable though over time. My preferred uniform for training is lightweight but has polyester in the blend, so some plastic bag vibes are just part of that.

Is it just me? The gi feels like it is too big for me?
My first uniform felt too big (pants were slightly too long), but the smaller size was too small. So I washed it in hot water a few times to shrink it. After that it fit better, and then I only washed it in cold water.
