    Wow I just stood up and got right in front of my display, yeah 32:9 is sick. But from my distance, I'll have to rock 21:9. Doom in 21:9 looked amazing from the distance I play. My display is a 55" oled. That's why I'm experimenting on different aspect ratios, I bet my 65" oled would be perfect for the 32:9, the 65" is a curved display too. Might have to think about how I will mount the 65" so I can get the best 32:9 experience, once again thank you for you footage.

      I will do a reupload soon. Nvidia has now fixed the recording issues for this monitor so I should be able to capture at true native resolution, and I will add some parts with FPS overlays. This was supposed to be more of a showcase rather than a benchmark.
      As for the settings it is running on all maxed out, highest possible, RT included (psycho setting I believe it's called). Nvidia 3D settings for this game is set to high performance mode with low latency mode 'On' (not ultra).

    How do you like HDR with your G9? I have the G9 but the colors looks washed out in HDR. It gets deeper blacks , and details in the image, but makes the colors look muted. I saw it only has 12 lighting zones vs unlimited zones on OLED or 512 on Asus's ultrawide HDR monitor.

    Ok now I'm understanding how it's ment to be viewed. So red dead looks amazing in 32:9 so I can imagine games like God of War, spider man, last of us, horizon zero, gta, thos look amazing, but I am unable to enjoy first person view games like, cyberpunk and call of duty because I can't see enemies that are further back In the distance. My reason is because I realize with a 32:9 set up you have to sit 3ft from the monitor, and yes the experience is mind blowing, because then it does feel like vr. But in my situation I have my display mounted by the upper conner of my room, thus I'm more that 5ft away from my monitor, I lose the indephth field of view. Which is why I guess the games that I mention that look great is because I don't have to rely on long distance enemies. Thank you so much for this experience. Fps will be my 21:9 experience, but third person will be my 32:9. Thank you.

      @BigSoulja  Před 2 měsíci +1

      With 8GB VRAM I think your performance at this resolution will be quite poor unfortunately. The VRAM alone severely bottlenecks things like raytracing/path tracing and high texture resolutions/LOD etc. So I expect you will need to use a lot of upscaling for any chance of ray tracing on medium/low (definitely not path tracing) or just RT off completely for better sharpness image. Cyberpunk without ray/pathtracing still looks great. It just doesn't have that realness to it, makes it more stylised.

    • @Smaloki
      @Smaloki Před 2 lety +1

      CZcams doesn't really deal very well with aspect ratios other than 16:9. It expects 1440p videos to be 2560 pixels wide. Because this video is 5120 pixels wide, it exceeds CZcams's expectations for both 1440p and 4k (which is defined as 3840 pixels wide), so it is automatically classified as the next higher resolution, which happens to be 8k.
      Technically the video would also fit 5120x2880, but unfortunately CZcams doesn't have a preset for that. In general, anything (even marginally) taller and/or wider than 3840x2160 is classified as 8k.

      Ah I see, I think I've been misunderstanding the purpose of ultra wide for gaming. Because from what you're describing ultra wide adds nothing detail wise to the gaming experience compared to a 16:9 display. It just gives you a "feeling" of immersion by manipulation your peripheral vision.
      I've been comparing ultra wide gaming to ultra wide productivity work and i realize now that's not a good way to compare the two. For productivity ultra wide is basically a larger working area. Bigger canvas.
      You can fit two or three monitors worth of stuff in an ultra wide.
      But for gaming your actual gameplay area is identical to a 16:9 display, with the remaining sides working not to add more detail to the game but showing your more stuff but to add immersion by manipulating your peripheral vision.

      I am free to look side to side of course but for the most part you are looking forward at it like any traditional monitor. And then with normal applications there is of course no distortion whatsoever as this is purely game engine related, so the monitor is great for productivity too.

    Nah. I cant do 32:9. Its too thin and feels restricted. 21:9 is the perfect ratio.

      Too thin? I don't think you realise how big the Odyssey g9 is to any other 21:9 monitor monitor lol. The height is like any other 27" monitor, but with the width of two of them.

      To be honest, some games do feel a bit vertically constrained. Cyberpunk is not one of those. Playing “Deliver Us The Moon” and “…Mars” do because they do a poor job of scaling the content. During cut scenes, most of the time you’re staring at their chests because the heads are cut off. 😅

    • @BigSoulja
      @BigSoulja  Před 2 lety +1

      Of course it will! The 3080 is a beast. You might be a bit limited by VRAM though so I would not recommend very high textures etc, but you can experiment.
      With this monitor I easily hit anywhere between 15-18gb VRAM usage in busy locations which is already over the 10gb the 3080 has.

    32:9 is too wide. I think 21:9 is the sweet spot.

    • @BigSoulja
      @BigSoulja  Před 2 lety +7

      Only someone watching this on a non-32:9 monitor would say this. It's an amazing experience, much better than 21:9 and it's very hard to go back to anything else after using it just once.
      I have owned all aspect ratio monitors and I can say this with ease. 32:9 is simply beautiful.

      @@BigSoulja I wanted to buy a G9, but in real life I've found that is wide enough but too small in height and that's why I think 21: 9 is better, because it's not x1440 but x1600.

      @brandondoehrman Před 2 lety

      @@silock I used to think that, but then I bit the bullet and got one. It doesn't feel small when your sitting just over 2ft away from it at eye level. However, if you don't have it parallel with your eyesight it does feel small, I see a lot of people use them where they look down upon it instead of straight ahead; it truly ruins the experience. It needs to sit up higher.

      This video is over 3 years old. Do you not think a lot has changed since then? It's received countless updates since I made this video, many of them to make the graphics very next gen. I now play it on a 4090 with path tracing etc. but I have not made an updated video (I probably won't). It's arguably the best looking game out right now.
