This is dedicated to all of the DAC fans out there that wanted to see more from this HISTORIC set at Gilley's July 3, 1982 performance in the rodeo arena!! (Now 40 years ago!) And check out the Mel Tillis "Nudie's Rodeo Taylors" custom jacket David is wearing (as per the story, Mel gave DAC his fancy old suits right from his closet in Nashville!) - it was obviously hotter than hell that day and David stuck to his dedication of wearing that jacket given to him by Mel, but not wearing pants to get somewhat cool? They say it is HOT in July in TX!.....

I purchased original U-Matic (3/4 inch broadcast quality used for editing) video tapes that came from Gilley's 1981 and 1982 "July 3 and 4th" annual shows and have been transferring them to dvd so I could share clips for fun and enjoyment here on CZcams with other country fans, these songs and performances should not be lost and forgotten! Before you know it, the tapes wont play anymore or there wont be many working machines left to play them on!! Luckily I have 2 working machines.... Its been a fun project and discovery of lost music! I am the owner of this original video, any other posts on CZcams have stolen it from me!

Thanks for sharing this I’ve met him 3 times one time in Gainesville Florida when I was around 9 in 1979or 1980 grew up w his music all my life I’m 53 and all my 4 boys listen to him often I listen to him daily

Wow! I was at this concert and just started looking for the footage. I remember that night my sister and I were on the news dancing and I've been a little obsessed with finding it. Maybe you know if there is any surviving footage of the crowd? I appreciate you sharing this - what a treasured memory! That was such an amazing, fun day - I have a photo of Mickey Gilley sitting in his dunking booth from one point during the day. Again, thanks!
There is very little crowd footage. I have a 2nd tape thats an isolated camera and once in a while theres a quick crowd clip, just of the crowd standing below. If you look up the "x-rated" song my friend posted here on CZcams, that shows the crowd. Would love to see photos from that day! -BB
