      They used multiple officers to take her into custody as to not injure her since she is resisting arrest. Of course the one officer could have got her in cuffs but he would have to take her to the ground and overpower her resistance possibility injuring her. By using multiple officers they can get her in cuffs to detain her without using as much physical force as one person would need to use to overcome her resisting of arrest. I know this doesn’t matter to the anti authority, anti cop people but I always laugh at the dumb comments about using more than one officer to make an arrest, they are literally trained to use more officers to get someone under control to prevent injuries on everyone. You do realize a decent person would simply stop and talk to the officer and if he decided to write a ticket you simply take it and fight it in court if you disagree with it. If the citizens don’t want a law enforced then take it up with your legislators but until then officers enforce laws on the books. It would have been a ticket at most but unfortunately an entire culture has been taught to resist police then cry victim when they physically resist, see it all the time. Some people turning simple citations for speeding, etc. into misdemeanor and felony arrest just so they can resist “the man”, so stupid.

      The "Freedom to walk" law I think was partially a response to the fact that the "Jaywalking" law was a badly abused pretext to stop people solely for the purpose of getting their ID. Cops could depend on the fact that most pedestrians were not really fully aware of the pedestrian laws and would think that they violated a law, when they had not, but would ID because the cops told them they did. I always recommend that people know the pedestrian law for their state because in most cases I have seen, the only time you can't cross outside of a crosswalk is when there are crosswalks on adjacent intersections. This is pretty common in city centers, but away from the city center, it is far less common, but cops would stop people that legally crossed near a crosswalk and tell them that they needed to use the crosswalk, but again, in most states, it is only necessary to use the crosswalk if there is a crosswalk on the next corner and you cross between them.

    • @davelordy
      @davelordy Před 23 dny +17

      I think jaywalking is only really a US thing, here in the UK (and every other of dozens of countries I've travelled to) you can cross the road where and when you like, it's weird to the rest of the word to watch a whole nation having the government dictate where and when you can cross.

    • @shenmisheshou7002
      @shenmisheshou7002 Před 23 dny +3

      @@davelordy That is the thing. In most of the US, you can cross anywhere you choose so long as you yield to vehicles. The exception is that in many states, if there are crosswalks with signals on adjacent intersections, you must use the crosswalk on one of those adjacent corners and obey the signal. If there is a side street anywhere between those intersections, then they are not "adjacent" and if they are not adjacent, you can cross anywhere you like. As I said in an earlier post though, many people in the US don't bother to read the law for their states, and cops prey on that fact to abuse their rights, by telling them they had to cross in a crosswalk. The victim thinks they have committed and infraction and surrenders their ID. If you don't know the law, you make yourself a victim of rights violation. That is why I always tell people (and black people in particular because research shows that they are by far the most likely victims of civil rights abuse) to look at the pedestrian laws for their state, and in most states, it says you can cross anywhere unless there are crosswalks at adjacent intersections, in which case you are required to use one of those.

      He didn't give her a chance. He just assaulted her within a millisecond. She was yelling "I'm not resisting".

    Incomprehensible and ridiculous behavior from a law enforcement officer ... of all the crimes in San Francisco, A JAYWALKER WAS ARRESTED FOR HARMING NO ONE!

    We will *not* tolerate violent policing in San Francisco.
    And more, the tragedy of the commons that is the rule of cars on the city streets is gut wrenchingly disgusting. People first, cars second.

    1. J walking is not a crime that requires an arrest .
    2. Jerry walking is an act outside of the crosswak area.
    Neither of these two was in play.
    3. He went straight into force without proper conversation and deescalation.
