    Is the ‪@jacksonguitarsusa‬ JS1X Minion the best bang for your buck beginner guitar? Maybe! Here, I demo my sons Jackson that he has played all of about four times since I bought it. This guitar is a short scale (22.5") guitar and perfect for kids, or travel. Honestly, it sounds pretty chunky and has a hot bridge pickup worthy of chugging!
    Also, I try out my ‪@AudioTechnicaUSA‬ AT2020 for the first time mic'ing up my Mesa 4x12 with celestion V30's. It might be one of the better mics for guitar cab recording out there!!!

    I love your drop tuning and playing. Great review of the JS1X, too.

    My son has the same guitar. They’re not bad at all and sound pretty solid!

    Thanks for this review. I knew that Jackson was a good brand, but I didn't really think about the word "Minion" that reminds me now of the movie Minions. I guess it means something like smaller. I saw this guitar on ebay and put it on my watch list and just thought of looking for a review of it. Since it has problems with tuning, I might not get it, because I don't want a guitar that I'm going to have to change the strings on it. Also, I want to use a more standard size guitar, not a smaller one.

    The RR Minion is awesome too. It makes me laugh so hard when I play. So damn fun.
    I think the string gauge on the RR Minion are 8s. Was thinking about trying the Billy Gibbons 7 gauges next, but yeah other CZcamsrs have suggested going to 10s.

    have the JS1X RR Minion, overall it's great and the tone is superb, the only problem is the intonation but it's easy to fix

      I upped the string gauge and did a minor truss rod adjustment and this thing has been solidly in tune ever since. I really dig the stock bridge pickup!

    hi ! would this guitare fit for a tall adult (i’m pretty tall, around 1M85) who want to start learning how to play guitare ? i’m so in love with the neon green version of this one and I don’t want to spend tons of money in my first guitare. thank you !

      It is pretty small and mainly built for younger players. I am only 1.73m tall and it is fine to play as a travel guitar. You could learn on this, and I can play this guitar pretty well, but a longer guitar might be more comfortable. Jackson makes the JS11 model that is full size for about the same price. But I don’t think it comes in neon green.

    is this comfortable to play for a larger person? Thinking about picking one up for a project, I want to mod it out lol

      If you have really long arms it might be awkward. But if you are standard height between 5’6” and 6’2” it isn’t much different than playing a regular guitar. Kinda like playing on fret 2 and 3 as your starting point. Fret spacing is slightly narrower. It does get a little cramped on the upper frets.

    So you do recommend to change the strings, bc they’re too light right?

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio
      @BaritoneGoatStudio  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah. I went up to 10s on this one. The 9s that came on it were just too loose for the scale.

    Is the action low, main thing im looking for

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio
      @BaritoneGoatStudio  Před 4 měsíci

      Pretty low. I set it up at 1.8mm on the low E, 1.4mm on the high E. Just slightly more than 4/64ths and 3/64ths. The top loading bridge requires the saddles to angle down a little bit to get the action low.
      I recommend putting 10s on it though instead of the 9s it comes with. This shorter scale can use a little more tension on the strings.
