@@sandra-jonesfor real, miss this😭 but also, the modern version is crafting streamers! I'm about to get started streaming on twitch & probably at least a good 1/3 of my content will be craft related cuz I ADORE crafting with friends but am disabled so can't meet people to do it very often.
I must learn this. If I have to live 100 years so be it. 😅
I am able to do that, I learn in two years with two lessons for week 😅but you must work at home at least six Hours a day to became so quick😊

So bobbin lace is done by twisting usually-that’s why the people are usually working two at a time. And you typically work from one side to the other, twisting as you go. A lot of the order is determined by the pattern, which you can see has been printed (or traced) below and there are key pins that hold that and the lace in place as it’s being worked. There are usually several pins on the area currently being made to keep the distance and pattern precise but sometimes, if you’re doing a looser “mesh” part you can just kinda go for it.

Have you ever tried to make things by hand? The reason machines exist is because they’re hundreds of times faster and more precise. We do appreciate manual work though due to the skill, concentration, and dedication involved, and because every piece is unique BECAUSE of its imperfections - however slight.
Well, once upon a time nobody but the richest could afford lace and a lot of other things. Can you imagine how expensive hand-made fabrics were? And lace, as example, were once as precious as gold. I am thankful to the machines for the fact that i can afford lace or silk (while still expensive nowdays, silk fabrics are not made by hand anymore, as opposed to the days when only nobility could afford them). Once upon a time people worked incredibly hard to create for the nobility everything they will never get to wear and use themselves. Nowdays it's a hobby people can enjoy without dozens of them damaging their backs and sight for months so one noblewoman can wrap herself entirely in lace she saw in a fashion journal during her daily routine of doing nothing.
