Maverick walking after Rooster and calling him Bradley, then exasperatingly going with Lieutenant Bradshaw…wrecked me. You can tell Mav has been in his life the whole time, but something is broken, and resorting to essentially ‘pulling rank’ on him hurt bad.

As someone who works in the industry doing animation and pre-viz this movie has set a new bar for exciting, inventive, cinematic and just plain fun shot design and setup. We're going to be copying in CGI what they did traditionally here for years to come. It's crazy how well they tell a story and how easy it is to follow without feeling stale. As a USMC Sgt I did a stint as a patrol instructor at Camp Fuji (Japan) and said the same thing and for the same reasons. The enemy has read our manuals too...and being able to follow a manual does not replace judgement and decisiveness in combat.
7:10 I love how in this part, Maverick pulls both of his epic moves from the first movie of flying upside down just inches over another fighter and, suddenly hitting the breaks to get behind his persuer while also, Rooster takes flying over his head as a challenge to play Chicken by flying in a spiral towards the ground. Best part about the "Chicken Spiral", Maverick knew Rooster's limits all to well and knew exACTly how to push him beyond those. It WAS working to the advantage of Rooster as, he had won the game of Chicken and got behind Maverick but, he just wouldn't take the last step and drop down to his altitude to and take the shot. Had he done just that much, it probably would have been Maverick on that tarmac afterwards instead...😩

Just like Mav and Goose did to the MiG. No photo though.
Maverick walking after Rooster and calling him Bradley, then exasperatingly going with Lieutenant Bradshaw…wrecked me. You can tell Mav has been in his life the whole time, but something is broken, and resorting to essentially ‘pulling rank’ on him hurt bad.

Just watching that podcast (with Top Gun Instructor and Navy Seal) and he definitely said that the best instructor will most often beat the best student
@eedd sdsd I saw the same interview. It's skill, but skill from practice. Instructors are in the air every single day. Officers before coming in are on duty and maybe in the air once a week and when they are, it's not dog fighting. The gap in skill is just hours in the air.
@@muRiboflavin still maverick isn’t a teacher he only came back to top gun recently though I guess 30 years of flying and already being gifted makes up for it
They should have shown more of Halo in her training sequence. There wasn’t enough of the other pilots fighting Maverick.
My favorite movie of all time!! Tom Cruise is a LEGEND!! The movie is just a masterpiece....every moment is priceless
just rewatched the classic for the first time in years.....how much technology has changed during that time until now....wow the cinematography is just mind-blowing....great freaking scene. Maverick never lost his touch and has become even more of a badass.
