  • Carpet tiles, also known as carpet squares or modular carpeting, are easily installed side-by-side to create a smooth, carpeted floor that looks just like wall-to-wall carpeting.
    Follow all the safety instructions included with your new carpet tiles. Handle the utility knife used for trimming carpet tiles with great care and always cut away from your body.

    If I pulled up old carpet to uncover a real wood floor the last thing I'd do is lay down carpet on top of it again.

    Caution. Do not place any type of Velcro Faced type of flat mop or equipment face down directly onto the carpet tiles. It will lock into the carpet tiles, attaching itself together along wither several other carpet tiles. Happened to a coworker of mine using a walk behind commercial floor scrubber which has a velcro base designed to hold the scrub pad onto the base to scrub the floor. He was moving the machine without the pad on the bottom and we had to separate the carpet tiles from the base of the machine.
    Some other equipment such as a Velcro type of swivel pad designed to lock onto a Doodle Bug Pole Swivel Scrubber or a Micro Fiber Swivel Base with a Velcro type of securing system will do the a same.

    Can anyone speak to how strong these 'tiles' stand up to things like sliding a piece of furniture over it? After all, it's not uncommon to adjust furniture positioning or need to move a dresser or nightstand out to access a wall outlet or find something that dropped behind it. I'm just wondering if carpet tile would be more prone to come apart and "kick up" under that kind of force being placed on it.

    • @dimaslastname4464
      @dimaslastname4464 Před 5 lety +2

      I would recommend that you use big, like 5 inches or more, carpet gliders and place under legs or base of furniture and push/pull to your desired location. Gliders will prevent furniture legs snag onto carpet woven threads. I hope this helps.

    • @rickrick1802
      @rickrick1802 Před 2 lety

      Carpet gliders are the best. If you do not have any, a piece of thick card board folded a couple of times for heavy items or old books used as a slider helps.
      Any type of VELCRO MATERIAL EQUIPMENT WILL STICK TO THE CARPET TILES AND WILL PULL THE CARPET UP. It happened to a coworker who accidently had a walk behind floor machine that has the bottom plastic to adhere to floor cleaning pads for commercial floor cleaning. The machine was heavy and we both had to separate the machine from about 4 carpet tiles. Happened to him twice LOL!!!

    There is a GLARINGLY obvious mistake in this presentation. If when you come to the edges to the tiles that have to be cut If you turn them over ,like he shows and mark the BACK then if the wall is not true when you turn the tile back over the angle will be completely WRONG !! You have to mark the tile whilst it is facing UP !!

      @@jayhorton4462 No you need to think about this a little more carefully. What you have just said is true if you mark the tile whilst its facing UP. • @douglaswhite1879
      @douglaswhite1879 Před 3 lety +5

      A bit late to answer your question but hopefully of use to others. No room has perfect measurements, for example two walls opposite each other are unlikely to be parallel to the last few mms, even cms. One end might drift away or over time either or both can become erratic for a few reasons. The imperfection may be only slight but by the time you've laid a few tiles across the floor you will find the alignment of tiles way off course or becoming off of square meaning the tiles will not fit exactly to each other, the corner angles becoming obtuse or accute. In fact you could even see this with your first tile in the corner where the angle of the two walls is out of 90 degrees. Starting in the center using precise measurement ensures you have as near perfect a lay as possible leaving the irregularities in measurement to be dealt with by laying smaller sections of tiles square to the tiles laid and cutting adjustments to the edge of tile along the wall. Cutting round pipes, door angles, difference in size of the space being filled from one end of the part tile to the other etc. etc.
