- Learn how to create a perfect copy of your favourite garment. Take a tracing, create your own sewing pattern and then recreate it in the fabrics of your choice. Works best for knit stretch fabrics, but the principal can be used for woven garments too.

Thanks! Love the ease of pinning into the foam! The sleeve graphic was helpful to see where the front adjustment needs to happen.
Glad it was helpful!
This is mostly accessible to beginners but you lost me at binding. Is part of the final garment or a tool to stop it stretching while you sew?
Binding is a strip of fabric used to finish the raw edge of a fabric. So for a top like this you often find them used on the necklines, cuffs or possibly hems. In other garments you will sometimes find binding inside the garment to finish a seam allowance. If you're completely new to sewing I recommend following a complete pattern to learn some of the basic terms like this and seam allowance, before attempting something a bit more advance like drafting your own pattern shown here.

Thank you
Thanks for the tutorial! I have a question though. When you draw the upper shape of the sleeve pattern, it looks like you are just freehanding it. If you're not good at freehanding, what would be the best approach?
Hi Doreen. I don't free hand the shape of the top, i follow the holes in my paper left by the pins I remove. Thats the great thing about pinning round the edge of every piece first, it makes it so easy and quick to draw the line along the holes after it looks freehand. The less confident you are the more pins you can place to follow. I hope that clears it up for you.
@@elfiesew it did, thank you!
