      Reminds me of how bouncers would deflect a drunk’s complaints. Pretend you’re listening and offer them to continue. Without you saying anything else, the other speaker has nothing to work on - no response to toy with. They usually either tire themselves out, or will get the message pretty early on that you don’t care. I’d wager it’s either a soldier thing, or something he picked up from guarding.

    @phillipj.benson9497 Před 4 lety +2393

    I kind of like that the voice tries to weaken the resolve of each character by taunting them about their past, with the exception of Kruber. Kruber's guilt is so boiled into his personality and character that he's built up a thick skin about it, forcing the voice to try to sway him in a different way ala "money and power".
    Just kinda interesting that the character with the most willpower is literally the average joe.

    • @flemlius3507
      @flemlius3507 Před 4 lety +451

      At least when compared to the others he carries a lot less with him in the first place. As an other comment already put it:
      Bardin was exiled for not being good enough and thus loosing an important battle, which did cost the life of many of his family, including his own son.
      Saltzpyre was blindly following orders of evil authorities, which made him kill an innocent young girl.
      Sienna is gifted yet so addicted to the flame, that she lets it run loose and killed her mentor in his sleep just because she could.
      And finally, Kerillian saboutaged Uberstreik by leading or at least being part of the force to kill the ones protecting it.
      Kruber is a Mercenary. He kills for coins. That's what he is on the inside and that's what he is on the outside. The only thing daunting him is that he himself believes he left that behind by becomming part of the Uberstreik 5, but isn't sure if be can live up to that expectation he put up for himself. Daunting, but not something he would be condemned for.

The biggest example is when a necromancer whipped out his entire squad and the only reason he survived is because one of his loyal men pushed him out of the necromancers miasma. There's even an entire conversation between Sienna and him where she asks him why does he cling to his fear and prejudice of magic, fire and necromancy are completely different magics after all. He responds in a really somber tone "I'm really not trying to Wizzard." Kruber's faking that he doesn't care what the voice is saying, it's all an act.

He always tried to reach sigmar in one way or another and was only able to finally achieve that goal when he became a warrior priest, before that he was left to fend off against the idea that maybe sigmar had abandoned him or was gone from this world. Which would be an absolutely terrifying resolution for a man as faithful as Saltzpyre.

    The worst (or perhaps best) part about this is that they can't hear what the voice is saying to each other. So the audience knows Kerillian sabotaged Ubersreik or that Sienna killed her mentor or that Saltzpyre killed an innocent girl thinking she was a vampire but they don't know those things about each other. Its like one of those "reality" shows where you are waiting for all the secrets to come out but you know its absolutely going to destroy your favorite characters when they do. Craig Bledsoe She accidentally saw a vision that said “Ubersreik would play into the downfall of Athel Loren”. So she interpreted that as “the city needs to die”. So she sabotaged the defenses and assumed something would wipe it off the map. That something turned out to be clan Pestilence who, if victorious, posed a greater threat to Athel Loren than anything else that could have come out of that city. Thus she had the blood of hundreds of innocents on her hands AND was banished by her people.

Kruber already lives with his failures haunting him so he takes it on the chin and keeps pushing forward like he does with everything else. Bardin, kerillian and Victor are less open people and hide their troubled pasts by keeping all their worries in their own minds which fails them when the enemy is in there too so they cave in and plead for mercy. Everyone knows Sienna is dangerous but they trust her to keep control. Even so they are all aware of the strain she faces and are wary enough of the possibility.
      Everyone is aware of Saltzpyre’s profession and what he’s likely done, the worst that comes is that they know he’s failed before. Not so terrible since they don’t really respect his authority anyway.
      Bardin’s personal grief is certainly a sore spot for him but it wouldn’t alienate him from them.

      Ultimately, she was following a vision that appeared to be true but was ultimately flawed and she is paying the price of her failure, first by being exiled by her people for it and fighting to make it right, so Kruber may understand, humans have given orders to do things that were blatantly wrong, so it's not like they're not without faults, he would condemn her for it or figure that extra troops wouldn't have made a lick of a difference, but he would not kill her, it's not his call to make.
      Bardin would be much like Kruber I reckon, his own failures led to a lot of great loss and is paying the price for it just as well himself, granted it was his own people but in his mind that's probably worse.
      Sienna would very much be upset about it, but would likely figure that Kerrilian only meant to do right by her people and overstepped her boundaries, it's not like that she's perfect herself considering that her own obsession with fire has caused a lot of grief, maybe not a whole town but it certainly could happen given time, hell she even fancies the idea so she's hardly better. And likely say that the past is done, nothing can't be changed, can only move forward.
      and Saltzpyre, he would have to be held back from killing her. But I think it would depend on the career, assuming that any of the carrers are canon, Witch Hunter and Zealot would want to kill her outright for that crime. Bounty Hunter just as well but he would likely realize that the reason she is fighting is to make it right, so probably act like he is doing with Sienna, her jailor who grants her a longer leash to fight against the common enemy. Her penance to fight until there's no Skaven left or die doing so. (I believe that considering the backstory that comes with Bounty Hunter and seeing that his blind faith to the Order's hierarchy was misplaced, much like like how Kerrilian placed blind faith in her vision, same thing, different circumstances, the Order could easily order a whole town to be put to the flame on mere suspicion of heresy after all.)
