Sie hören die sehr verlegene, aber eindrückliche Vertonung des Chorales "Christe, du Lamm Gottes" von Karl Stiller (1837-1894).
Stiller wurde in Kaltwasser (Schlesien) geboren und war 1868 Organist in Leipzig.
Dieser liturgische Gesang zur Brotbrechung bei der Eucharistiefeier stellt sehr deutlich zum Ausdruck, dass Gott durch Leiden und Sterben seines Sohnes Erbarmen und Frieden schenkt, damit alle Menschen zum Leben gelangen. So passt dieses Stück gut zur bevorstehenden Karwoche, auf die dieser Sonntag schon verweist. Zu finden ist dieser Gesang im katholischen Gotteslob unter Nummer 208.
Das Zungenregister Musette trägt dabei sehr schön die Melodie vor, während die Koppelflöte und die Baßregister im Pedal diesen Choral umspielen.
Konrad Schäfer spielt an der Schönefeld-Orgel der Himmelfahrtskirche in Arnstadt (aufgenommen am 22. Februar 2024).

You will hear the very embarrassed but impressive setting of the chorale "Christe, du Lamm Gottes" by Karl Stiller (1837-1894).
Stiller was born in Kaltwasser (Silesia) and was organist in Leipzig in 1868.
This liturgical song for the breaking of bread at the Eucharist expresses very clearly that God gives mercy and peace through the suffering and death of his Son so that all people can come to life. This piece fits well with the upcoming Holy Week, which this Sunday already refers to. This song can be found in the Songbook "Gotteslob" number 208.
The musette reed register presents the melody very beautifully, while the coupled flute and the bass register in the pedal play around this chorale.
Konrad Schäfer plays the Schönefeld organ in the Church of the Ascension in Arnstadt (recorded on February 22, 2024).
