    I haven't tried it myself, but apparently for US customers they'll send free tongue pads, heel grips and non-elastic laces to you if requested to adjust the fit of the shoe for narrower feet, and they'll reimburse you for tongue pads or heel grips if outside the US and you email a receipt. It's in their FAQ section.

    Side comment from someone with these and 12 other barefoot shoes and 7 bf boots:
    It’s been my practice to take stretchy laces and mark where they are comfortably on a stretched pronated position.
    Cut approx 1cm to 2cm above that mark and then burn with a light where there is your mark.
    This allows easy on and off while having considerable hold on your foot.

      Great tip! Thank you for sharing.
      Which barefoot shoes are your favorite?

    Hey Martin, great and informative video! Carets was one of my choices when looking for barefoot dress shoes. If you look at their resole program it says it is discontinued at the moment. With that i just figured i would take up shoemaking and make my own shoes.
    Anyways for everyday use (non dress) i would suggest merrell's move glove. Its not flimsy nylon like the red ones. Its seems like they are tradional mesh shoe. I have them for a while now and its great, it seems to hug the foot better! I even bought the suede versions for daily use. Sorry for long comment. Have a nice day!

    How flexible are the soles of the shoe? It is common to have a very rigid sole on dress shoes, however real minimalist shoes (such as the vivobarefoot's) are extremely flexible and allow you to "feel" the ground.

      They were very flexible, but overall the shoe felt stiffer than other minimalist shoes I had worn and that includes the sole. I think that's due to the Carets being made of leather, which is just stiffer by nature compared to polyester or whatever material the other minimalist shoes were made of.

    They do look a bit better for big toe alignment than mainstream shoes, but it looks like they still taper from the ball along the big toe. I would not call anything barefoot that doesn't allow the toes to align naturally. Compare the straightness alongside the big toe of this shoe with the one used to illustrate a 'narrow toe box'. If anything, I think the Carets actually are less straight.

      The CEO emailed me and offered to send me a pair for review. Usually I don't do these types of reviews, but I had been wanting to try those ever since I had first heard about them years ago. So I said I'd pay the full price if I were to keep them because I want to remain impartial. Ultimately ended up sending them back because they were too wide for my feet.

      @@MartinKoban Ok. Thanks. Mal schnell auf deutsch: Wenn das Grundprinzip darin besteht, durch eine Spitze mit Überlänge genug Breite für die Zehenfreiheit zu schaffen, kann ich mir ja eigentlich gleich ein paar normale handgenähte Businessschuhe in Übergröße kaufen. Oder? Klar, die haben dann einen echten Absatz (Sprengung), aber den könnte man ja möglichst gering wählen.

    Hello Martin, I have this sh... for almost 3 years. I bought your book and waiting for it. My question is what is the difference between pain and irritation? Thanks

    • @MartinKoban
      @MartinKoban  Před 3 lety

      Thank you Jean. Irritation is about how severely the tendon reacts to load, that is, how much pain you'll get. If a tendon is irritated or easily irritated, pain response will be high and disproportionate.

    48!? Ha and I thought I had issues with size. Good to know I’m a US 13 which I believe is 47 and I’ve had my eye in a pair of carets.

    • @MartinKoban
      @MartinKoban  Před 3 lety +2

      Here in Germany it's easy going if your feet are size 47 or lower. Above that you can forget about shoe shopping in regular stores :-)

      @@MartinKoban same here it’s hard enough finding shoes in my size I can’t imagine being any size bigger.
      European sizes in general run small I’m 6’6” (198cm) so finding shirts long enough for me is a nightmare. I won’t even try in Italy or Spain.
