Julius.......He was a strong individual, with his overbearing attitude and strong-willed beliefs. He did what was necessary, and had no regrets whatsoever. He hated his actions and his superiors and subordinates even more, but from all of that........Ludger was the bridge that held him up, the shield to his sword, the fire in his heart, and most of all.....his greatest treasure to protect. Let us all follow his example, and guilt him not for the things that he did, but for the people who used him and only saw him as a disposible tool. May he see a peaceful and tranquil rest.....and that he may find eternal bliss and divinity. AUUUUUUGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This is the saddest 1 on 1 battle ever in a Tales game. Im talking a punch in the heart and shatters into pieces sad. Julius was my favorite new character too...
Chapter 15 is undeniable proof Tales has what it takes to deliver on all fronts. I was a blubbering, numb mess by the end of the chapter and it felt amazing. Honestly, if this were a stand alone title with an all new world and characters, this would have been THE Tales game.
So you have Elle who went with Bakur where she's going to be used as a weapon to defeat Chronos and will turn into a catalysts. Then you have Ludger who has to kill his own brother to get to Cannan. Julius who will end up dying one way or another. Finally there's Nova who has no idea what's going on at all. She's completely in the dark and there's nothing much she can do about it. It's a bad time for everyone.
Oh God this scene. The first Xillia made me cry when I thought Milla had died, but this one broke my heart in more ways than one. Guys, this is CLANNAD levels of depressing!! I completely lost it when Julius hummed the Hymn of Proof. I just could not stop crying. Bravo to the script writer of this game, just bravo. This is one of the best games I have ever played.
If anything, I find this even sadder than the bad ending. Or, well, this one made me cry, so it may be that. Fights between family is bad and that's just one thing, but having to lose a family member in such a manner... ;_;
The no holds barred player punch montage with Julius at the doesn't make it any better. This is god damned Futurama and that dog all over again, this game got me very close to shedding a man tear at least four times.
It hurt so much because it wasn’t just another world that he destroyed this time. This was his own. Everything he loved, everything he held dear, he had to destroy it with his own two hands.
Chapter 15... my favorite chapter and also the one that tears me up the most. What made it worse was that in my playthrough, I made it a point to talk to every NPC in every town, and Ludger's pain at having to destroy Julius's "perfect world" became so clear. So simple, yet so elegant. I can't help but tear up every time. And then, after the fight's over, you get the Pollux Twins. I just had to equip them for Julilus. FOR JULIUS.
I've played games since I was 5 years old. I'm 28 now and I have to say that Tales of Xillia 2 is one of the most emotionally impactful games I've ever played. The bad ending is just sad as hell. Julius was a great guy, a strong and honorable person who's rare in even the real world. It sucks to have to kill someone like that, especially when it's family.

A lot of games try to convey a message through emotionally challenging material, whereas it almost feels as though X2 has event after heartrending event for no particular reason. Regardless, though, I loved the experience, and it's certainly one way to engage the player in a story. The one that hit me the heaviest, apart from this one, was the scene with Elle after the Victor fight. I can't recall the last time I felt like that playing through a game, if ever.
I'm 30 and I too have been a gamer since I was 5. I'm on the cusp of beating this game (just beat Julius) and so far it's been quite the emotional roller coaster for me...But nonetheless I am really enjoying this experience.
I don't have any expectations for the main character in Tales of Arise, as he/she will be a silent protagonist with gender selection and customization. I have hype for everything else, but not the MC. The only thing I hope for is that the game will get an anime adaptation where the player avatar/Alphen will be fully voiced, as his voice actor Takuya Sato said Alphen could be "very emotional", and I hope he's referring to the anime characterization of the Alphen the player controls, rather than just an NPC that bears the same title.
@@vittoriopugliese3352 i read every article i could find, and they didnt mention the sort. They only said his outfit etc may look different in some situation ( since he cant feel pain ) but thats just it. Nothing about you can customize his gender or look.
My older brother was with me when I got through to this scene. It hit extra hard because, while we didn't play this one together, and aside from being well, brothers... We played many many Tales of Games before this one together, all the way back from Eternia on the Ps1 ("Destiny 2"). We were like "Damn..." and the pain was *felt*.

Got to admit, this was my favorite 1v1 fight in the whole series. Its probably the only one that's truly given me too much trouble and the buildup to it was perfect. Also, I gotta say that the scenes afterward choked me up really hard, I really REALLY didn't want to kill julius.
I love this game so damn much. I relate to Ludger so much that its scary. Facing a nasty world, friends by my side, with a loving older brother watching out for me. If i had to do what Ludger does with Julius, it would destroy me. Tales of Xillia 2; my favorite game on the PS3 in its entirety.
One point that I think is worth mentioning is the way they tried to make it look like 2 Mystic Artes clashed. I find the concpet incredibly cool. Ludger winning out and breaking through really enhanced the powerfulness of the moment.
Gotta feel bad for Nova, always thinking every time she opens her mouth she adds tp Luds depression lol. I mean she did have him try and pay out an inhuman amount of debt. And friendzoned him in preference for his older brother... Ok so maybe he has a couple reasons not to be too excited to talk to her in her pov lol

But with new found friends since the start of the game, it's going to be an epic & amazing game to see end with Elle being alive! Depending on when you have completed all character stories and has done throughout the game of course It's sad to see that you'll be force to kill your older sibling. Especially since he's been with you since day 1. But because Elle is important, Ludger has no choice but to pull it off, cause it's the only way to get to Canaan. Plus, despite the strong Bond between Ludger & Julius, they both know what's at stack of the world. With Bisely using all he needs around him as tools, he's likely a dictator of sorts. Hell, that's why he's the Main Antagonist in this game. Alongside Chronos. This Boss fight was a reminder of what we saw at the very start of the game in Ludger's dream. Seems like it came true this time. While the fight was intense seeing it for myself, it sure shows how strong Julius is first hand. Both normal & Chromatus. Also like how they did the scenes and flashbacks between Ludger & Julius. Shows how strong their Brotherly Bond is. Before and after the events. And that Ludger has made peace with it and now with Julius' sacrifice to build the soul bridge, he and the others can save Elle, stop Bisely, and save the world. Yeah, I sound like I'm repeating myself here, but I felt that I should mention it. Also manage to get the Chromatus Level 3 after this fight after getting Julius' Pocket Watch as well. It's also something to remember his brother by too. I know this was shown in the last part during the Bad Ending, but I'm making this official. And his full form looks really awesome too. Glad Ludger's my fave in the Tales Series. Lol! I should really stop remind you and everyone that when y'all most likely heard it so many times. Loved the Duo Bonus Scenes for each characters, and how you ended it with the 2 Main Protagonists of Xillia 1. Each one is showing their condolences to Ludger over his brother's death in building the Soul Bridge. Starting with Leia & Muzet (13:20), then Elize & Alvin (14:13), Rowen & Gaius (15:06), and finally the 2 Protagonist of the first game, Jude & Milla (16:43). Showing Ludger's resolve, it's now time for him, and all of his new friends, to head to Canaan, defeat Chronos & stop Bisely Bakur, & rescue Elle! Thus saving the world from utterly destruction!
I was originally going for the bad ending, but once Gaius started saying "Now you lose your nerve?!" I couldnt bring myself to keep pressing R1 so I said "fuck it" and pressed L1 to fight Julius.....After that was done, I can safely say I don't regret my decision, especially after I ended up getting the true ending.
