We are addicted to our phones. There's no avoiding that fact. After finding myself mindlessly scrolling more often that I'd like, I was inspired to create this piece for a live production.
This piece seeks to communicate two key messages; firstly, that there is a stark contrast between the pictures we see on social media and what the person actually feels, and secondly, the anguish and sadness that can result from a desperate desire to be the perfect online person that is validated by likes and comments.
Most of all, I hope that my friends and family never let their feed make them feel anything less than extraordinary.
It was hard to translate the same story to video without stage lighting, but with Phillip Trinh's magic touch, it came together.
I hope that you enjoy it, and that it reminds you to take some breaks from your phone :)

Philip Chbeeb (Pacman) has awesome storytelling in his stuff too! Very different from this or Kyle Hanagami though.

Wow!! So moving. It really spoke to the idea of what you see in pictures is not necessarily what is happening in real life with real people and real relationships. A very important message for not only young people but anyone who uses social media.

This choreography hits deep for me. The song choice was brilliant. Props to every single dancer that participated in the making of this movie I loved it. There was something so amazing about the diversity in this group. Even if not everyone hit the moves perfectly I almost like it better. This just make me rerealize NO ONE IS PERFECT. And today’s society is terrible about self love. Most people I know care about what other people think so much it drives them. Sometimes I see that in myself realizing I was conditioned into being competitive. Most people hold themselves to some online standered. Sending love to whoever has read this. We all deserve to love. Anyone who has hurt you are just on their own healing journey. There’s never anyone to blame because everyone has been hurt by someone. It’s better to forgive. Let go. You deserve to have a beautiful life. Why are you holding yourself back from being you?

This was INCREDIBLE! I'm usually not a fan of group dances - being out of sync or messy becomes an issue. BUT THIS WAS PERFECTION! I LOVEEDDDD how you changed the orientation of the stage.

There is so little of that these days. It was like water on my parched lips.
"If your still breathing your the lucky one" this has so many important connections to what it is to be alive. Not just that you are aware of yourself, but also that you are not dead by distraction or the disappointment of "failed" relationships.
