Nico and Jack, it's totally fine guys to take a break as long as you like. Visit home. Go to another country. See you families. Hang out with friends. Eat some fish and chips in a pub. China is always here for your return/next visit. We just hope in future we will see not only you two but also a few newly added family members visiting us :)

I have lived and worked in China for 7 years. I took what was meant to be one semester break in 2019. I came back in March 2020 just as the pandemic hit the U.K.
I never thought the world would be like this - it is now over 2.5 years since been back home. Next summer maybe my time to go home.

As a Chinese living in Australia me and my wife finally went back in August on a three month annual leave after four years of not being able to come home. I can definitely relate to some of the struggles and frustrations not being able to see family and friends during the pandemic. We were not there when my wife's grandpa passed and it'll forever be a regret for us. Now with our grandparents in their late 80s/early 90s, every goodbye feels like the last one. And god knows how many more regrets we're gonna have if situation stays the same. So Nico you have our full support to take a break and enjoy some quality time with family! China will always be there should you wanna come back but right now you need to be with your family. Thank you for all your amazing contents and we wish you best of luck in your future endeavours!
I was crying when I was reading your comment. I live in Australia too. I haven't been back to Beijing for 3 years. During the time my dear father passed away, as you said it'll be a regret for me and a big pain in my heart. Now I feel like I am anxious from time to time because I always worry about my mother who is in her 80's and lives alone. I hope China will change the zero covid policy and let all the people like us who live overseas go home easily.

I can relate. I left China for the Netherlands since 2020 during the outbreak of Covid. Being nearly 3 years away from my loved families and friends has not been easy. Just booked a ticket to China next spring, which makes me super super excited. I feel lucky to have been travelling outside China but the energy your hometown/country can offer is irreplaceable.
I am sure we will all enjoy our "break" and go back to our own lives after recharging.

I totally get where you are coming from as we are heading back home soon after 3 years in China and like you we are very much needing to get home (New Zealand). We sadly won't be returning as our time is done here, which is sad, as I know we have not seen the real China we thought we would due to the COVID restrictions here. It's a totally amazing country and we all would love to return one day in the future. You have managed to produce some really professional and inspiring videos in very challenging times here and I started watching you before we moved to Beijing in 2020. It was lovely to bump into you both on the trip to the ice festival last winter. I can see that you need a break and I think NZ has got to one of the best places to do that! look me up if you want a tour around Wellington! All the best for your downtime and I do hope you get back to this amazing country again. :)

I have watched your vids for awhile and know that you guys are super genuine and fair regarding all things China. Being away from China will hopefully make your hearts grow fonder again or maybe that your time in China has come to an end for the time being. I`m so proud and honoured to share the beauty of our culture with you. there are still so much things waitting for you to explore like xinjiang(south xinjiang is completely different from north xinjiang) ; south yunnan; heilongjiang; east inner mongolia; guangdong; jiangxi; anhui; even taiwan. cant wait to see your new content!!!
I can feel you both, i lived in China until half 2021 and left to see my fam and friends until the situation gets better over. My gf came with me as well and we are just working, saving $$, enjoying with people here, etc... things now starts slowly move forward in China with Covid situation changing faster in HK and mainland at least allowing students and lowering quarantine times. We plan to get back, if things get better, in 2024.
On the business side, most all business get step backs, its sad but it is what it is, you both got it from start but you both make incredible video content so you must persist in it!! Take a break as you said and come back stronger later. Hope the best for you 2.

Nanjing sounds great. Lived there in 2016-17, been wanting to go there and revisit. Its crazy how fast things change over there. Always fun to visit a “home” city after time away.
