I don't think people understand that pointing out flaws isn't the same thing as "hating". Not everything he does is perfect whether you like it or not. If you told someone who sucked at singing that they were amazing, how would you expect them to get better? I'm not saying Joey sucks at acting but it was kinda mediocre in this short film. He has potential but it needs some work. I know you fangirls think everything he does is flawless & support him, but you need to realize when something isn't up to par. Overall good job Joey, keep at it & you'll go far :)

It saddens me to go through the comments and have people being rude on something that Joey worked his ass off for. Joey had a dream and an idea which he worked hard for and put together for all of us to enjoy. We don't need to spread un necessary hate to him, I personally loved the short film. He will make mistakes on certain films but in the end, thats whats gonna make these short films awesome. Cut him some slack. Keep it up Joey :)

I agree with what everyone already said. The drama at the end seemed forced; he didn't spend enough time with the kid to form any kind of bond, so when the kid died, there wasn't much punch to it, and his crying seemed way too over-the-top. However, it is an absolutely gorgeous short: the lighting, the music, the scenery, the effects; it's all really quite beautiful.
Or maybe a kid just died???? I would cry too probably

He knew they were the same. Eon reminded Joey of his brother who died. He also felt a pull when the stones did that. It's kinda hard to explain.
I completely agree, and referring to the comment above me, even if he did remind him of his brother, they didn't have any sort of direct bond. There would be more shock - more, "What the hell just happened." And yeah, my mom was laughing at his crying. It would have been 100x better if he was more subtle with ALL the acting.

Nastya Luneva OK but if you think this a good short film you need to watch septum now that is a quality short CZcams film.
The cinematography and editing was incredible! But the story and acting could be improved. Joey's character started off seeming really tough, buying hard liquor, driving a truck and running away from home, and then what follows after that is the character changes into this strange kids like best friend from middle school, like when the two stones collide etc, (me personally, would have made Joey's character much more hostile to this boy at the beginning and then start to warm up to the boy creating character development.) The characters and story could be developed more it seemed kind of a rushed story.

Maybe it's because we pretty much see you everyday and that makes it hard to separate you, Joey, from a character when you act. Or maybe acting isn't your thing. You have a great platform to share art in many different forms, that doesn't mean it has to always include you. The music was very good at least!

Dude, your editing is INSANE! This is so freaking amazing, it hurts! You have no idea how much of a critic I am when it comes to editing, but I see like nothing wrong with yours! Dude... I just can't.
I love the cinematography! Beautiful, wow. I think Joey has a lot to learn as an actor but his acting wasn't atrocious. I think part of what made it seem forced was that so many things were packed into the first chapter, and that he seemed SO agonized after being pulled away from this kid he just met. (The FBI thing in itself was totally unrealistic IMO though). That's not his fault, that's poor writing. He has potential, he just needs time to grow.

I think people need to remember that this wasn't written by hollywood producers and wasnt made in fancy studios or anything... Joey is a youtuber and joined in with some people with a great talent to create this! It may not be to the cinema movie standard we see, but we certainly cant compare it to something that was a big production..
I think its absolutely amazing at how far he has come and is able to create something so amazing with some talented friends!!
His acting is getting better and better I feel! He didn't go to acting school remember... for what hes been able to do.... I'm so happy and grateful hes sharing it with us, makes us know that you can start from anywhere and with some hard work you will slowly make that climb to the top.

Sorry but Joey won't come to the top in acting. In this film his performance was mediocre, if he wants to become a top actor he has to quit CZcams and dedicate more of his life to acting.

I think joeys producing skills are his strongest card than acting. I wish he would focus on producing and stop putting himself in lead roles. (Frankly he isn't the best) Storytellers would have been much better and this one as well if he cast a better actor in lead roles. His story lines and producing is good though.

This is just my opinion, but I kinda thought the plot was really weird. this boy shows up out of no where and dies. and then out of nowhere Joey's character has this "connection" with Eon. I'll give it another try on the 2nd Chapter, but yeah that's what I was thinking.
I think we were supposed to assume that Joey came from Eon, and that, for a long time, he had been repressing the memory of it.

You really like making dramatic shorts, I think you should train your voice to be a bit deeper so that it fits the roles more and makes you sound more serious. You have a peppiness to your voice that's sort of distracting. A little coaching should really help you alot to be a professional. :)

After reading many comments, i feel Joey did a decent job on his FIRST short film, yeah his acting could have been better or maybe its because we know his style and mannerisms from watching his daily vlogs that seeing him try being another person feels weird to us but he loves doing it so we should support him, people are entitled to their opinion but some of yall are being really harsh, and Joey if you read this just know that people love and support you, you're an idol to me and and don't let negative people bring you down :D

I go to a school for the arts and as you can tell by my username I'm a theater geek. I thought the acting was a bit cheesy at times but I loved the scene where Joey lost it. It was very good!

My thoughts on this:
The cinematography is really, really good. The acting, however, is not. But obviously we don't expect Joey or the kid to be amazing actors and, therefore, we can't say much about it. The writing/script is what I really disliked about this short film. There's no answers. So, a meteor comes crashing down, and Joey doesn't even care about it? AND why on earth would he say ''Charlie'' out of nowhere, at a moment like that? I got no answers, and I don't understand anything about the kid, or what ''connection'' they had. Really wish it would have been better.

I hate to say it but Joey almost sounds to feminine or innocent for this role. Maybe just try to act more manly? A fancy camera doesn't make the film.
Overall, I'd like to say that Joey actually did a good job. The script kind of annoyed me because they had easily just met and he instantly started crying? Kinda weird to me. If there was more development and a longer story and more explainations, not just a bunch of chosen eon or whatever, I'd really love the series.
Its a short film, it cant be that long and plus, he is putting it on youtube, free for everyone to watch.
I think I'd probably cry if I witnessed someone die right in front of me, even if it was a complete stranger. maybe it's because I'm an emotional person though.

I read the bitchy comments and all I can say is I'm once again impressed with the way Joey pushes his limits here, as with Storytellers. I'm not a big Joey fan and I don't need to watch him vlog every day, but I respect his ideas and his initiative. This film feels like a throw back to eighties sci-fi in the best possible way. The gas station shots are beautiful and the truck scenes are such pristine Americana I literally lost my shit. And I love seeing him be serious and expanding his range, morphing into a performer who can play someone other than himself. No matter what anyone says he is out there, making it happen. No amount of hate/envy is going to stop that momentum and I applaud that. Well done Joey...... omg I just went full fan gurl
Is not really hate is constructive criticism. He is gonna need to toughen up and take it. Being an actor is not easy and what is going to make him better is people pointing out his flaws. Is obvious his acting here is still very poor.

It's easy to throw shade from behind your keyboard when you don't know the logistics of a production. It's a pretty major feat for a kid to initiate something of this scope. That said he's not gonna be goddamn Meryl Streep at 21 but give him a few years. People feel so entitled to criticise it's kind of bs.
I don't like people who condemn constructive criticism. It's not hate or envy. They're trying to help Joey improve.

Mannn, this video seems to be getting a lot of hate :/ (well I guess not hate but quite a few people didn't like it) Idk, I liked it. Was it perfect? Of course not. This isn't professional work, you're still learning. But there was a lot of nice shots in this short film, especially in the beginning. But I can see where everyone is coming from with the writing. This short film has a great storyline but the writing does need a little work. I would also like to feel more attached to your character as well as the boy (alien) bc when the boy died I didn't really feel much because I never got a chance to know or like him. I know other people mentioned the acting and I don't think your acting was terrible like others were saying but yeah it could use some work. Again, you're learning so you'll figure it all out. I hope the negative comments don't get you down. You're doing great! Keep up the great work :) Can't wait to see Chapter 2.
P.S. - The music in this short film was really good :D

I love seeing the two types of fans. There ones who can give criticism and the ones who jump on the Joey bandwagon and attack anyone who doesn't love the film. I've been underwhelmed by both Storytellers and now EON, even though I think there is potential for an amazing story here. I don't expect A List acting, but it does make a difference. I love Joey as a CZcamsr and I like that he is trying to break into a different medium, but I can say that he is not a good dramatic actor. I think he should try comedy. Bring on the inevitable hate.

I wasn't very impressed with this, it seemed a bit cheesy, and I wasn't a fan of the acting. But I wouldn't say I disliked it, I would like to see more. I would also love to see more Story Tellers, I was getting into that!
The production quality was great and some of the shots were beautiful but...the script was kind of, cheesy and too rushed, it feels like you were tried to squeeze something that needs a longer story for us to grow attached, but you put it into a short film. Maybe have Chapter 1 be more of an introduction and cliffhanger instead of a whole thing? I don't know. I liked when you stole that candy bar, it was a nice add-in :)

I didn't say I was a famous director with years of experience. I'm just an audience member with a comment so I left it in the common section. I'm not trying to hate or anything.
This is how constructive criticism should be, though. A lot of people are just saying "this sucked" without any validation, but this person tried to provide rationale as to why without being rude.
