I like that the bosses from aerial-camera levels were replaced with Hard Corps ones

@@Hamanuna Yeah, not to mention that hard corps was an awesome game. So changing chose top down level, which the gba can't handle too well with hard corps levels was the best thing they could do.
@@Selnathorn contra 3 was on the og gameboy, they could included the top down levels but without the full screen rotation
Nothing can be more badass than holding and jumping onto a barrage of missiles while shooting off enemy defenses.

The snes version already caontained the alien bosses from Contra and Super C.
... I know that the audio of the GBA is very limited, but in gameplay and visual effect I think that the GBA was capable of more isnt?
Yeah the gba can do a lot better in visual and music I mean listen to mother 3 music or Kirby music
I agree, I mod and customize GBAs as a hobby and the music for this game does not do the hand held justice. It's terrible.
Bruh, the GBA was actually MORE powerfull than a snes, but sadly very few games knew how to use its power
@@Wigman_01It did some things better, yes. It was just limited because it was a handheld. It was small, so resolution was naturally lower than a SNES game, and colors are a bit washed out. The small size also limited them in what they could do as far as sound chips. At the time, they didn't know how to fit anything on the board in a handheld that would produce sound comparable SNES's chip. That and the speakers were also small, causing a bit of a muffle.

The Hardcorps portions just seem so out of place. The bosses just have such a different style and feel to them.
Its still cool that they are in the game

the Hard Corps bosses don't look as good as they originally did. I wonder what ever became of those developers anyway, they had a unique spritework style.

Director Nobuya Nakazato made some other Contra games and Vandal Hearts his most recent project was Contra Rogue Corps but i guess he does other work for Konami's pachinko games, his explanation for disapearing like that for ten years was something like "because i didnt feel like making another contra lol"
One of the music composers is Akira Yamaoka who worked on silent hill games and another Contra game
Another composer Akiropito as credited in the game just posts food on twitter and i think he did music for some castlevania games on the DS
the programmer Kenji miyaoka just "farted and went into a coma" as @Vikashar says, who knows what happened to him, just like a lot of konami's employees is probably making pachinko games
The first boss brings new meaning to the saying "I've got a turtle head poking out".
What I never understood is why does it have three spaghetti balls as his legs. That's what I never understood about snes or other 2D games.

The GBA version replace the 2 bosses to compensate for their lack of top view mode 7 like effect in the 2 stages in the snes version

Nah, there were games with awesome sound in the first generation of GBA games. Castlevania Circle of the Moon is the prime example of that (and it couldn't be topped even by Aria of Sorrow IMO)

The Hard Corps part pales compared to the Mega Drive original but even the Contra III parts look worse than SNES.
So is this like a mashup of other Contras? The first boss looks like it's from 3, second one I know is from Hard Corps.
Captain_Corncobb IIRC, they couldn't do the aerial view stages and so replaced them with Hard Corps stages

The games in the contra against are those types of games that when you see a video of a game in the contra you think the game is easy but when you Go to play you apparently lose all your 5 continues, which means that the game against that you saw for the First time you thought the game was easy but when you went to play you are brutally trolled by the game
The music sounds BARELY acceptable. The remixed levels are ok, but this is still a downgrade from the original
Sonic Advance 3 also had some good sounds in it too
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon & Aria of Sorrow - good sound and music too.
The music itself is OK, but due GBA-quality it sounds pretty bad.

The gba is a powerful handheld, i thought that contra 3 would look amazing if it took advantage of the hardware , unfortunately thats not the case as it sounds and looks worse then the snes original, and the hard corps portions look bad on here too and very out of place ,since that game had a more darker style , it doesnt look right with all the colors being bright ( i know, probably the colors are bright be the gba had no backlight, but still)

I remember that battleship one with bad and good memories I remember the grind I did when I was a kid stuck on it for a week then I asked one of my friends to help me on it and ask them how they did it then I eventually got it

I wouldn't recommend Contra Returns so you should probably stick to something like Contra 4 or Contra ReBirth.

I don't know if it's just me doing it wrong, but I swear dodging boss 2's kicking attack is a load of dumb luck. Sometimes, I dodge it but ducking as far left as I can go, sometimes he kills me.
Yeah, that boss has weird hit detection. I get hit by absolutely nothing sometimes.

It's easier, and there is no Hard Mode.
Shadowserg that kinda stinks, but it still looks like an interesting version of the game.
Several attacks from the bosses are much faster in the original version

What do you mean? Only 2 of them are not in the snes version, because the snes version had the top down levels instead. The levels with the super power robot and the ultimate being are from Contra Hard corps for genesis.

I wouldn't go that far, it's more of a port. It lacks some bosses and the music and sprites are adapted for the weaker GBA hardware.
