    My friend is a pro guitarist and he plays this in clubs, studios, bars and even concerts. Amazing guitar for 500$

    @cugir321 ...I noticed that you mentioned the Yamaha FS800. I have that same guitar. I have only been playing guitar for about three years. But even though Im a novice...this guitar sounds good when you play it. It a great guitar. I really enjoy playing it.

      Yep! We miss the FG800 as just a standard acoustic. Yamaha has sadly discontinued it and replaced it with one that's similar, but has a slightly smaller scale length.

    It sounds crispy and bright but I'm finding it a bit less energetic in the low end. I played it in a shop a couple of days ago and it felt somewhat rough along the fretboard on the fret edges. Overall it's not a bad bargain at that price tag.

    • @FretZealot
      @FretZealot  Před 3 měsíci +1

      For the price, it's certainly a good bet. We've shipped about 250 of them now and never encountered a defect, which is impressive. It also holds its tuning through a variety of conditions. We're in Buffalo, NY, so we definitely experience changing weather!

    Nice Review ! Does the thinner profile make it harder to play than a full size ?

    • @FretZealot
      @FretZealot  Před 7 měsíci +2

      The guitar has a full size neck and full sized dreadnaught style body (with the cutaway). The neck profile design is slightly less bulky than other guitars which is preferred by many players including our reviewer. If anything it’s easier to play. The neck also features a nice satin texture which is preferable to the glossy finish on some lower priced models. A great neck to play on for sure! Guitar sounds excellent both acoustic and plugged in.

    You got to play a few before buying....there's a big variation in the quality of the chinese instruments.....I have 6 yamaha's....I've had to refret everyone but the FS800 because of fingerboard humps. I didnb't need another but could lay off the fS800....one of the best necks out of the box in 30 years....better then all my buddies with D45's and such. I can tune it down 1/2 a step and it plays without buzz playing normally....capos to 5th fret without buzz. amazing...sound good too but not as good as a great high end guitar. Still as good as many 2500.00 martins and taylors. For 187.00...200.00 out the door. Don't think because it says martin it's bullet proof.

    Inexpensive guitar but mine sounds terrible no matter how I adjust it. Poor sustain and strings pretty much sound dead. I've tried three different sets of strings. Action was high out of the box and when I've lowered it I just get buzzing on a couple of strings and have to turn the rod back counter clockwise to eliminate the buzz and the action gets high again.

    • @FretZealot
      @FretZealot  Před 11 měsíci

      Interesting! We've found the sustain is very particular to being in tune (i.e the guitar is designed to resonate with certain frequencies). Kind of an obvious question, but are you testing your sustain after tuning?
      Where did you buy it from?

    Hello! For Christmas or my birthday, not sure yet, I'm thinking of getting a steel string guitar, and this one caught my eye. Are there any reliable places where I can order online in Australia? I live in a place where there aren't any stores close to me so buying online would be more convenient than buying plane tickets.

      Your best bet is to use Yamaha's dealer locator: au.yamaha.com/en/dealers/dealer_locator/index.html
      It's too bad we can't ship the FGX800C internationally easily from the USA, but we do ship Fret Zealot LED systems anywhere in the world for free! store.fretzealot.com/collections/fret-zealot-products/products/fret-zealot

    The sound plugged in feels a little behind soemthing while through mic it's very right in front of me. I am not sure if I am describing it properly. I might buy one.

      Might be the mics we used. Two different mics were used.

    Is there a difference between the sound of fgx800c vs fg800 beside the electronics and cutaway?

    • @FretZealot
      @FretZealot  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Not much different honestly! The electronics are the biggest thing. Yamaha also doesn't make the FG800 anymore (unfortunately- we thought it was great).

  • @senseiruss
    @senseiruss Před 5 měsíci +2

    Buyer BE AWARE - it's a great deal -unless you're planning to play this only sitting down. Yhere is ONLY ONE strap button! It's on the bottom end of the body only! This guitar looks and sound nice, but I would have passed on it if I realized this. I know you can attach a strap that has a string tie above the nut, but I don't like to idea of that or the look of it!

    • @hillarylarson4780
      @hillarylarson4780 Před 3 měsíci +2

      You know you can just add another strap button, right?

    • @senseiruss
      @senseiruss Před 3 měsíci

      @@hillarylarson4780 Yes, of course, but some inexperienced players who buy this might not feel confident doing that or might not want to pay someone to do it. And where you locate and how you install the button is important and if done wrong, can damage the guitar. I watched a vid about how to do this, from Gibson, and was able to do it, but some might have problems.
