- The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday released videos of an incident during the Class AA football state semifinals at Cicero-North Syracuse High School on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023. Steve McDuffie, a coach with Bennett High School in Buffalo, filed the complaint that he was assaulted by a deputy during the game. Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley released the video, saying there was no assault.
Anyone else sick of the _card_ being pulled to excuse bad behavior?

I won't say what I'm thinking, but this coach is an awful example for his kids. I hope there's some sanity in his athletic department and he finds himself looking for a job that doesn't involve the next generation.

I know the majority of police departments across the United States were probably reluctant to wear body cameras however as time has gone on, I believe body cameras are the second-best thing they wear as their gun is the first, but nothing tells the truth more than audio and video..
It's also better for the public because it keeps cops honest.
It is also better because we all know witnesses lie about police like the Brown case.
The ACLU lost much of their reason to complain with the widespread use of body cams.
Yes, the race hustlers insisted the cops wear body cameras but it most often has shown them to be clearly in the wrong. I was dead wrong years ago when I thought it was just a waste of money, it has saved many a cops job and likely has kept some cops from doing time, kept some cities from burning, etc.

He’s a liar…and as a coach maybe he should grow up and act professional, maybe set an example for his players. Refs make bad calls sometimes, very rarely is arguing going to accomplish anything. Instead he makes baseless accusations that he was “assaulted” after the fact.

Big game. Too many flags were going against them and emotions got high. Period.
It wasn't even the head coach that was ejected. The head coach should have taken charge and asked his assistant coach to leave, regardless if he agreed with the decision or not. The fact that the assistant coach tried to claim he was assaulted by the police pretty much says it all.
Coach needs to get fired. He's a bad seed. All he grows is hate

My wrestling coach used to say "You have to win in spite of the referee. If one bad call causes you to lose, then you should have been further ahead to not make it an issue." I coach now and say the same thing to my soccer players.
One missed play or bad call can impact a game, however yes, usually it's a series or multiple errors throughout a game.

The coached should be charged with disturbing the peace. His actions shut down the game causing fans and players to waste a night who went there to watch football. He should also be charged with making a false police report. The district should ban him from coaching.

I’ve watched video after video where someone filed and complaint against police claiming “racism” and when you see the bodycam footage there isn’t even the slightest hint of racism at all. It’s disgusting behavior.

What kind of example are you setting for the young minds you are coaching. You're not the first in history to dispute a call or feel something was unfair and how you conduct yourself in front of your players and students should be the first priority.
Coaches are supposed to lead by example. He leads by showing people how to use your skin color to try and get your way.
As far as sideline violations go? He's probably right, the other team was probably doing it too. And they probably didn't have a disrespectful toddler fit when they were warned to correct the problem. IMO it would be nice if coaches got kicked out of every game when they step on the field at any time other than time out.
Only people that know they are in the wrong and have no other argument to justify their own actions, in these types of situations, pull race into it. This "coach" should be removed from his position for his behavior. He is only causing divisiveness between coaches and players in their state. Disgusting.
referees should have just shut it down and walked off the field and let them deal with it them self's . once they start calling people racist i would not give them a minute of my time any longer. ridiculous

I was a college umpire. I met with the entire teams and coaches/ I told them their mouthpiecr is the coaches and that I expect the coaches to talk to me with respect as I respect them for all the hard work they do for all the kids. You may be out of time out, but I have descretion to stop play to explain somthing to a coach. If I am being disrespected by any coach yell, using profanity, to will get the leagues explaination after the game. Come talk to me, and if I made a mistake I WILL CORRECT IT. I would rather lose my job correcting my bad call and put the right call in. This is just a game and I dont want these young men who most will never see the pros have a positive experience to look back on when they are older. I had a coach start to yell at me one time. I froze and looked at him and the look inhis eye was "I messed up" I walked over to him and said, you know you can come talk to me, no reason to yell at me as I would never make a wrong call on anyone. He said he knew but from where he stood he said it looked like a clean catch. I called the player over and I said I saw a small juggle right at the end, it was very minor but I was so close, less than a foot, I saw it move. Itold the player, it is up to you, if you think I wronged you, I will switch it to a catch, but I expect you to be honest and say whether or not is was possible he juggled it a fraction... He said, yea, it did move a little. I said.. all you have to do is talk... I want everyone to have fun and would not come out for peanuts, sometimes free and have a kid have a bad experience because of me.
All you have to do is behave yourself and the police will not be called to your location.

Look..get the two head coaches in the middle of field and settle the discrepancies of the play and or flag. No need for filing police reports. Name the coaches involved. There were accusations by more than 1 coach on camera.
Those coaches were out of line and an embarrassment to their school and team.
There's a particular type of people who pull a card they think can magically outweigh any argument against them. But this card is only valid against weak enemies, and has been overused to the point of being disregarded by anyone who can think by themselves.
