    I've been trying to get help because apparently I'm doing it wrong. My jdiction device has 3 settings- 60, 90, 150 seconds. Even at the lowest setting, the dye I add shrinks up and deforms the resin slightly. And when I demold, there is a sticky mess. Using high viscosity.

      After doing a lot of research one little comment stood out and it was if the room is not room temp but cold it could cause an issue. My room is above a patio and gets a lot colder then the rest of the house. I keep a heater in there when I’m doing my 2 part epoxy but don’t run it all day unless working. So I warned up the room and wrapped the Uv resin in a shirt to get it to room temp about 72-75 then tried and it worked. Perfectly.
      Lesson learned to anyone struggling getting UB resin not to be tacky is don’t do it in a cold area. Don’t warm the resin in water or heater just rub the bottles or wrap them in something to get a bit warmer.
      Both types did work but the one still has a weird feel to it not tacky but not smooth as glass

    • @jossy9186
      @jossy9186 Před 2 lety +1

      Ultimate Crafting I have the same issue trying to make glitter pens and I gave up bc it was still tacky and not smooth like all these other people that make them. Theirs looks shiny and mine is tacky. I'm in NJ so it's still cold here to leave in direct sunlight. So if the kitchen area is like 68 it won't cure properly then? We never put the temp to 75 that is too hot in the house for everyone. Plus I'm sitting in the kitchen and the window is in front of me bc I do the work in the corner bc that's where my desk is set up.

      Hi there! Yes, you can use UV Resin on the keychain but we recommend sealing them with decoupage glue before the resin to prevent the resin from soaking in or staining the sticker.

      @@DesignBundles I use the silicone molds. I pour the uv resin in the little cup i add some glitter not a lot. Stir it then pour into mold. Hit it with the UV lamp that came with the resin 90 secs then 30 sec from underneath. Wait an hour unmold and the next day it’s so tacky and soft. If it’s hard it sticky

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  Před 3 lety +1

      UV Resin works best on surfaces that won't bend or give. The acrylic is a very hard surface, so it works very well. I think most phone cases have at least a little give to them, which may result in cracking. Hope this helps! ---Becky

      Hey Rosi, I'm not as up to date on protective equipment for UV resin, but from what I hear for regular 2-part epoxy, you want a face mask that will filter out organic vapors. • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  Před 4 lety

      Good question! Resin can be an option for you. One problem is that resin is self-leveling, so I'm afraid that it would "slide" off the shape of the mermaid scales and pool around the sides. You can certainly try UV resin as it cures faster under a UV lamp, but I'd hate to risk ruining your keychain if the resin doesn't work well. Hope this helps! ---Becky
