    I see a lot of negative in the comments, I'll say your welding skills have room for improvement, however if you are self taught bravo! As far as the comments saying you could just buy one, well sure, but they will never be routed how you want them, and some of us have a much larger scrap pile than we do thick wallets, sometimes the life you make at home outweighs the all mighty dollar, I chose to raise my children for example. I do more diy than anyone I know, fab my own car parts ect, if you have some skill and imagination you can save a ton of money, don't let these folks push you around, at least you are doing something constructive with your time.

    For all the people that bash him for his work at least he made an attempt to use his skills. Im always impressed when someone decides to tackle a project with their own ideas its great. The only thing different i would of done is make a removable end cap so i can repack the muffler when all the fiberglass blows out.
    I have lots of old muffler bodies from previous atvs that i owned and will be making my own glasspack muffler for my grizzly 700. After spending tons of money on go fast parts for my previous grizzly 700 im taking it one step further and doing a budget build on this one and the less money i have to spend to make it perform better and be unique i will do the work myself. I always encourage people to do projects like this it keeps your mind busy and keeps you out of trouble. When i see young teens doing builds i tell them to keep up the good work.

    not bad but the glass wool will fly out in like 3 days, you should wrap the pipe with wire mesh before putting the wool and then it will last lot longer amd always rivet 1 side for future refilling and fixing

    It's a great learning experience for the kid. I commend him on his efforts. Not many of you other commenters could have made a muffler. But I do agree to a point. It didn't make that thing sound any better.

    Ran across your vid while researching how to make one for wife's quad, it's so old that cannot get one .just want to respond to some of the negative comments. If you have the time and tools to DIY , and you want to make it , then why not. Better than being a couch potato. If you make a rough looking weld , and it holds up ,what the heck . Seen some perfect looking welds that didn't last long enough to install. I am not going with a glass pack , but some type of baffling in stainless. Agree with the guys who say you need practice, but it will come

    Overall, good job. However, saying it costs $10 is a bit misleading. Perhaps saying "Made from Scrap Metal" would be more correct. It is by far cheaper than a prefab one, tho.

    Interesting, yes a lot of work, but evidently he enjoyed building this Muffler and that how you learn your skills. Not by going to the store and buying a muffler. I think the long exhaust pipe could be reduced to eliminate a lot of the noise before it gets to the muffler. A great job, just imagine if he had a MIG welder.👍

    At 6:30 you needed to lay down screen material between the packing and your core pipe, as it will blow out by blowing in thru your holes.
    Also, with all that work you ended up with a one-chamber muffler . . . you had room for 3 chambers.

    Your welding, fabrication, prep, finishing and marking out was pretty rough. However awesome effort and end product considering. A little bit more time in your prep work and using tools like a center square for example can make all difference in producing a production line worthy product from one that may shit itself in a couple of years. This comment is intended as constructive feedback. Once again good effort, sounds grunty (just hope there’s no too much/less back pressure)👍🏼

  • @PopaAlexandru.
    @PopaAlexandru. Před 4 lety +2

    The final product is too heavy. Other types of material are used; pickled steel sheet, stainless steel sheet, titanium sheet or carbon fiber.
    Usually pickled steel sheet. Of course that can't be welded with a coated electrode ...
    When I was a child I used to ride the cart and once I got down I touched the exhaust pipe - there was instant skin and you want to keep a simple tire?
    Motorcycle engines are more powerful - for example the VF250F has versions of 35CP @ 249cc, this for a model manufactured in 1986. Now there are KTM models in 2T with 60-65CP @ 250cc, of course competitive. This is about how much the power of a muffler increases, in a 4T engine.
    The style of this video is: "From mistake to mistake to the final victory!"

  • @SnakePliscan
    @SnakePliscan Před 6 lety +1

    You don't actually need a mig, smaller 3/32 rod is real nice for projects like this. I think putting the screen on first actually helps keep the insulation from wearing/blowing out as fast. fun watch thanks!
