    Thanks CVP for the good illustration of the differences pl mount points and the converter for wider choice of lens mounts L, E, EF, very informative and good luck with further events coming up.

    Spot on, perhaps the majority of the difference between stills and cine glass is in the operation and the ergonomics. Sometimes people ask if they should switch to cine lenses and ultimately it comes down to whether the ergonomic benefits justify the expense.

    I'm interested in the Rokinon Xeen CF but wonder if I'm better served with stickin with my EF Sigma ART Prime lenses or if I should consider MEIKE or DZO lenses instead

    Oddly enough, I sold all of my cinema glass and bought up a bunch of Zeiss e mount stills glass. Having autofocus on cinema cameras made that a reality for me - one I never thought I'd see happen!

    good explanation, maybe just few words about vintage lenses maybe welcome. i thinks we are many to use old good stills, primes, sometime tuned, with satisfaction. I use very few modern lenses, especially with af motors and sliding focus ring, that too bad.

    • @thatcherfreeman
      @thatcherfreeman Před 3 lety

      One challenge with vintage lenses is that a lot of them focus breathe, and tbh it's often difficult to know how bad it is from a Google search because most reviews are just for still photos.

    • @beyondourarena2207
      @beyondourarena2207 Před 3 lety

      @@thatcherfreeman yes but in real world cinema use, you'll never pull focus across all focus range, but on a quite short range, so focus breathing is rarely a real issue.

    • @thatcherfreeman
      @thatcherfreeman Před 3 lety +2

      @@beyondourarena2207 idk if I agree with that. It's not that you pull focus across the entire focus range, but that if you pull focus from something maybe halfway into the range to something close by (say, an actor walking across the room towards the camera, or between two actors sitting in a car, with the camera outside one of the side windows), a quick, sudden focus pull could make that amount of breathing fairly jarring, especially if the camera is on a tripod.

    My Portkeys monitor has broken twice now (died on set). It's actually spent more time being repaired than used, but both CVP and Portkeys refuse to take any responsibility. Would avoid both companies like the plague.
