    The lift is amazing. Thanks for sharing with us. It is too easy for us to take for granted the act of getting out of bed. You are an amazing woman with such a positive attitude. Bless you!

    You are an inspiration. I can't believe I watched every minute of someone doing the same thing I do every day here in Mississippi. God bless you

  • @myphilippineamericanjourne4731

    Your grandma is great. It did make me a little sad and worried for you to hear she was 68. You 2 seem like a well oiled machine. And the bows, I guess that's what you call her gestures, were the bomb.

    Are you able to feel or move your legs at all or do you have no feeling in them? I have a friend with a sci and he has feeling and movement below his injury level. Just wondering if it's like that for all who have a sci.

    • @chinadixon8243
      @chinadixon8243  Před 7 lety +3

      +sca1pd I have no feeling or movement from about the chest down. Every spinal cord injury is different. I could be in a room with people that have the same level of injury as me and we could all have different levels of feeling and movement. it all depends on the severity of the injury itself :)

    No disrespects but Grandma was not very gentle the way she just threw the straps and lifted your legs I but you are a lucky person to have a Lift to lift you some people don't have that Luxury Yes I am greatful that I am able to roll in and out of bed But I do have two special needs young adults !

    • @chinadixon8243
      @chinadixon8243  Před 7 lety +5

      TOM S she is 68 and does basically all of my caregiving alone. She is as gentle as she can be doing it herself and fighting my spasticity. I know that I am blessed to have a lift. Even more blessed that my grandparents worked and saved there whole lives to help cover things that insurance doesn't. As you know being a caregiver isn't easy and takes someone with a special soul.

      China Dixon so very true it takes a special person and yes you are blessed to have a supportive family I apologise to grandma I did not mean to be critical of her wow 68 I am 61 lol so please accept my apologies you have a a fantastic personality despite your challenges in life best Tom

      TOM S Have you ever used a sling to get a quadriplegic out of bed? It's not as easy as she makes it look. The sling is tough and you really have to make sure it's in the right position in order for the person to be placed in the chair properly. It's all about technique. Her grandmother did a great job!

    • @TOMS-ux4zp
      @TOMS-ux4zp Před 6 lety +4

      Hi Taylor Kalen Yes you are right No I have not put a quadriplegic in a sling before although I work with special needs myself I work more with people with learning difficulties and downs syndrome although there are a couple in a. Wheel chair but. That is not my remit .I t just seemed on looking at the video that grandma was being rough maybe it was my pre conception of the situation and if so I do apologise to the Grandmother .and yes I have been put in my place..........lol I am not normally judgemental and thank you for pointing out my error. It is difficult .but if you could see it from my perspective I would not want anyone to be rough handled!.

    • @taylorkalen
      @taylorkalen Před 6 lety +2

      TOM S no worries!! I didn't know how until a just over a year ago. I had no idea the level of skill needed to care for someone with a SCI. Once you get it down it's second nature, learning and perfecting the technique is what's hard. You aren't rough per say, but precise in your positioning. It takes a special person to be a caregiver, it also takes a special person to work with people with special needs. Kudos to you!!
