    Sebenza 31 is a real nothingburger as far as updates. The ceramic ball interface and the canted clip were features that have been on the Inkosi from the beginning. Plus, this Sebenza still doesn’t have the oversized pivot hardware and the dual thumb studs that the Inkosi has. The only plus (IMO) over the Inkosi is the better micarta inlay pattern available and the Damascus blades that are offered as an option.

    Sebenza will always be one of the most classic folders because of its well thought out clean lines. Companies try to be too unique and it ruins their designs. • @pete6705

    I keep looking at this knife, because I want to like it as much as everyone else does. But I have a hard time with it. It looks like a good solid knife with good materials, but I can't understand the price and the massive hype. It's so simple looking. There's other knives in this price range that you can tell right away from looking at them why they cost so much. Maybe you just have to hold it and use it to understand

    • @aido1987
      @aido1987 Před rokem

      The awesome warranty and build quality are definitely a factor

    • @kershaw72787
      @kershaw72787 Před rokem

      "Hold it and use it to understand" is exactly right. The simplicity is what makes this knife so perfect. You can get the upgraded designs, which are gorgeous and always unique (so if you see one you like buy it then and there because it will be gone tomorrow and you may never find it again), but even the base model is functional perfection. The precision of the hollow grind, consistency of edge, intricacy of the washer system, lock up of the knife, superior fit and finish and (for once) screws that don't strip out when working on the knife all lend towards the hype. CRK encourages you to disassemble the knife if needed, replace lanyards and back spacer washers to customize color pops, and gives a full warranty on the knife. A CRK feels what a $400-$500 knife should be, many others (I am talking to you Benchmade, whom I love) make knives $400...that should only be $200. Take the crooked river knives. These are AMAZING knives for the use they are intended for, and I just received a matching set of the regular and "Mini" and been devouring Nick's videos on them, and they are well worth the money and cost...when they first released and were only $180-$220. Now the full size goes for $280-$320; I absolutely love these knives, but could never see paying that much for stainless steel liners, aluminum bolsters, s30v blade and a 7.5/10 on fit and finish. $100 more gets you a CRK, just saying.

    Hey nick I love your video so I'm not trolling I really wanna know what you think has people buy a overpriced old design ( that I get alot of old knives I love) yet usually they go down in price. Then I've heard many talk about how he keeps them soft which is crazy saying easier to sharpen like a guy spend $300 on a knife can't afford a stone to sharpen it. What really gets me is how people are scared to say anything bad about a old overpriced to soft knife. 30 years ago it was awesome but by today's standards it's a $50 -$150 tops because of titanium mark up. I'm hope you can shed some light I like how you say what you feel an that is why I watch you. Another point it's not a age thing cause I seen people my age defend the price even if they're arguements was crazy that they are made to tight tolerance. All knives machine made are very tight especially spyderco very nice fit an finish. Just don't get how everyone acts like they are the ultimate my personal tastes I would like a emerson but that's because of the owner an it was what we carried in ranger bat. Well the guys that had money I carried a carbon V tanto damn hardest knife to sharpen I ever owned but you hardly had to sharpen it an it was to big in those days anyway I hope you can shine some light thanks for reading my long ramble stay safe

      the average Taichung Spyderco has no looser tolerances than the Seb. you know how ridiculously overpriced the Seb is? for the same money in Europe as a base Seb 31, you can get a custom Remi Lavialle (just to name one of the more notable examples. there's plenty other custom makers who'll make you a much better knife for less money)

      I have a young daughter and have dreamt of owning another CRK for the last 4 years. I bought a large Inkosi in January and in comparison to the small Sebenza 21 it is fantastic and well worth the money (to me).
      I get it, not everyone will appreciate it as I do but for me, yes they are absolutely worth the money. Completely subjective and I don't expect everyone to agree. If you have the chance to try one then do, they hold their value and you can always change your mind;

      @taddy_mason205 Před 4 lety +1

      No. It pivots on bronze washers like a forty dollar knife. It doesn’t have a deep carry clip. Handles are unnecessarily titanium. I can’t speak on the steel.

      @@taddy_mason205 Washer based operation is not necessarily a negative. Many people prefer them in fact. They are inherently less prone to damage and don't require nearly as much maintenance as bearings. The same can be said about deep carry clips. They almost always make it more difficult to remove the knife from your pocket. Whether or not the Sebenza is worth the money is subjective but those two reasons specifically are pretty lousy.

    It is a really nice knife... However... I don't see that this knife is worth $450... Advances in CNC machines make it accessible for many companies to achieve really high quality knifes... I feel like you are paying at least $200 for the Chris Reeve name... Kind of like paying $1,500 for the new Colt Python which has had several problems. You can get a S&W 686, Rugar GP 101, or a Taurus for half the price or less... I will never pay the extra just for the name...

    Not a fan of sebenza knives, they’re overhyped and are not better than any of the regular $150 priced titanium/s35vn knives. The new one is just a ploy to keep selling more by saying it’s new because the 21 has been the same for so long but it’s basically the same thing

    • @Claudius_Nero
      @Claudius_Nero Před 4 lety

      ? Those knives only exist because they stole the framelock invention from the Sebenza and even s35vn (and s30) steel itself was developed with Chris Reeve's direct input. It's easy to make a better value when you steal \ copy every innovation.

    • @user-wr6wo6vr8r
      @user-wr6wo6vr8r Před 4 lety

      Tony A he didn’t invent titanium and there are tons of better steels than s30 or s35. Plus I could be considered an innovation but it’s nothing special, it’s one of the most basic and bland designs . It’s my second least favorite, first is back locks and I even prefer liner locks but that’s just my preference.
