  • This video is an overlook at the various types of feminism and I hope it's useful. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION:
This video didn't turn out the way I wanted it to be. It's what happens when people get too immersed in what they’re reading and then end up making videos that they think are didactic, but not really. I beg you not to give up because of it.
Thesis Eleven really delayed my academic publications because of all the time it takes to produce (apart from how destructive it is for my mental health to do this work). I have many articles almost ready but I didn’t publish them yet because making these videos takes a lot of time. This is part of ongoing research and it takes time. When I finish the article I’ll post the link here.
    Sueli Carneiro on epistemicide (www.geledes.org.br/epistemici...)
Cinzia Aruzza on Marxist and materialist feminism, and intersectionality (she discusses consubstantiality as well). (edisciplinas.usp.br/pluginfil...)
Note on why epistemology and not stream:
"This means that 'white' feminism or 'black' feminism in Britain are not essentialist categories, but rather fields of contestation inscribed within discursive and material processes and practices in a postcolonial terrain. They represent struggles over political schemes of analysis; the meanings of theoretical concepts; the relationships between theory, practice, and subjective experiences, and priorities and forms of political mobilization. But they should not, in my opinion, be understood as constructing "white" and "black" women as categories "essentially ” fixed in opposition to each other." (Avtar Brah - www.scielo.br/j/cpa/a/B33Fqnv...)
This means that, as black feminism, it is located within those fields of contestation that embrace subjective meanings and experiences. As Brah put it, epistemology is about the development of knowledge, not fixed essences. It is different, for example, from talking about anti-racist feminism, which is necessarily opposite and excluding from racist feminism. Streams exclude each other, epistemologies are built from specific places, but they can go together, especially when one influences the other, which results, for example, in the fundamental importance of black feminism for the development of anti-racist feminism that can be worked by all women.
