MUST READ - UPDATE: I filmed this very late at night and forgot some key points. #1 While the joystick is a higher quality clone, they do sell various replicas of the original. I meant to include various links but will update the show notes later today for those that are interested. I am impressed that they used a much better Sanwa clone though, I think it will last a lot longer than the original Gen 1 Pac Man joystick, those are an “must” replace so this was nice to see. #2 I’m featuring the $399 version of the cabinet so it does NOT come with the light up control panel or the stool. If you’re interested in that bundle, you will pay an extra $100 for those additional options, I didn’t find I cared about either so I saved the extra $100. #3 The monitor is the upgraded BOE monitor we have seen them use in the later generation cabinets, it looks very crisp and clean on the boot up menu, during gameplay it does look a bit different than the Gen 1 cabinet. It appears to me at least that there is a shader or filter applied to the emulator. This seems to cut down on the jagged edges and is almost a minor smoothing effect. I can’t confirm that but that’s what it looks like to me. This didn’t bother me personally but it is worth mentioning. I hope everyone enjoys the video and thanks for watching! 🤘🏻

They needed to add "Ms. Pac-Man" and "Jr. Pac-Man" to complete the collection.
They dont have the rights to ms.pacman, atgames beat then to it
I could be wrong about the details, but I don’t think Jr. Pacman is an official thing from Namco...I think Midway did that against their wishes as I recall and there was all sorts of legal issues over it which I guess is why you never see it ported, but it is arguably the best version of Pac Man so it really is a shame to have these games without that in the collection.

Ms PAC Man and Jr. Pac Man have been in legal hell for years, they rarely rerelease those those games to anything now.

This woodgrain cabinet is pretty epic, and totally evokes that old pizza parlor nostalgia for me.
I built my own cabinet with a raspberry pi a while back, but this one is so cool, I may buy it just because it will add so much style to my man cave!
What a great video - thank you for sharing. I have this cabinet with the light-up marquee and control deck. I changed out the joystick spring to 6lbs. I also have the Ms. Pacman cabinet as well. I was surprised at the overall quality. My girlfriend and I have friendly competitions daily. These a great machines. Thank you for sharing this video. Nicely done.
It's very cool that they included Pac & Pal, Pac-Mania, and Pac-Land in there. Those are great Pac games, and Galaga is just icing on the cake!

What Arcade1Up should have released or perhaps should in the near future is a special edition arcade machine: Pac-Man, Pac-Man Plus, Ms. Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, Pac-Mania, and Jr. Pac-Man.
So cool they get their newer cabs out to people and advertise for more preorders before filling out back orders that shouldve gone out weeks and weeks ago

Seems like it has a 4-way restrictor gate which is perfect for the game selection. Nice to see A1up is paying attention to that now
40th anniversary and it doesn't come with Ms Pacman. Bummer.

DOubt they'll do a Ms PAcman for quite some time - since Atgames purchased the Royalty rights from GCC out from under Namco - Think Namco would rather just not release any new versions of it so they don't have to send Atgames that royalty check and Atgames can't release any new versions or sell rights to do so without Namcos approval so Ms PAc is pretty much in limbo for the time being !
If they had also included Ms. Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man, might have convinced me to pick one up. I understand the rights issues with Ms. Pac-Man.
My Arcade did something interesting: They released a Mini Arcade version of Ms. Pac-man...but swapped the original colors on stages with new colors. My guess: to get around being accused of having duplicated an exact copy, to avoid copyright infringment ;)
One of the best Intro's I have seen! Also this is probably one of the best Pac Man Cabinets I have witnessed now if only they fix that audio problem! This is why I am hoping they including more games with LIVE would be an Easy FIX! But this Arcade version probably tops all other Pacman type arcade ports so far!
Hey Retro Ralph I ordered myself a Pac Man 40'th anniversary counter cade arcade from Amazon I'm getting it this Friday this is the best I can do for me I'm going to have lots of fun playing it I've always wanted one.
I am so glad that I got the 40th anniversary cabinet! Pac-Mania and Pac-Land are some of my favorite games ever!
Pac-Mania almost seems like a sleeper on the cabinet, admittedly I didn't play it much in the past. It's a really fun game, Pac-Land is quirky in the way you control it without a joystick but it's pretty fun as well.... pleasent surprise for me, I was less familier with these games.
I have memories of stopping at the same Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs restaurant somewhere on the interstate in New Jersey every Summer in the 90s and playing Pacmania near the entrance
Love the intro. You got yourself a good (and understanding) woman. While this does look nice a nice cab. I will stick with my overly modded SF2 cab. My money is reserved for some type of vpin.

I've purchased Starwars, MK II, and the 40th Anniversary Pacman in the past 2 weeks. Golden Axe and Starwars virtual Pinballl next. Also will be building a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mame box with my son. These things are so addicting!

They got all of the 1980’s Pac-Man arcade games on there except for Ms. Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man.
I wonder if they could make a second machine of 7 games to include those two and Galaxian? I think the other four games could be Dig Dug, Mappy, Rally-X, and another space shooter like Xevious or Bosconian.
I love how this Pac Man Cab looks. I am not into having Pac Man on a cab but still. It looks aesthetically nicer then all of them

Cab looks great with that wood finish and classic graphics, they have really upped their game. Intro was great lol.
I put black electrical tape over the speakers holes in the cabinet it helped.

Odd issue I've seen in mine. The top and bottom 1 cm of screen is cropped off in gameplay. Can really tell when playing pacmania. Other games it is hard to tell because of the black background.
That intro was hilarious. Fun fact (that I just made up) During the Galaga loading screen, you can play Tekken.

I love it, but I agree with you, the woodgrain should flow on down to the riser, the black just cheapens the look of it. If I got one, I'd probably leave it off of the riser and sit on a stool to play it.

Very Cool! Confused though, my PacMan cab saves high scores already; when I'm done playing, if I shut it off, if I unplug it. Current saved high score is 30,250. Hey, I'm still a little rusty 🤣😂
This would be my perfect Pac-Man cab if it were yellow. I've been slowly modding my Gen 1 Pac-Man for the last year, but this has most of the features I would want, including the shape. I'm not a fan of the wood grain, though.

The volume on the original Arcade 1Up Pac-Man was stupid loud too. That sucks they didn’t fix it.
Interesting, I wonder if maybe the developer working on the roms had them all at the same volume when he dumped them. The main menu is fine... it’s just as soon as you get into a game the base volume seems to go from where it should be to mid/high. Thanks for watching and for commenting on the video.

I'm not a big enough Pac Man fan to buy an Arcade 1UP of it, especially that the prices are so much higher in Canada.

Man I am so glad I held off on getting the original Pac Man release right now because this looks great and Galaga makes it a definite purchase for me. It's not technically available here in Canada yet although some retailers have it listed as available. I heard from someone from Arcade1Up last night and they are going to give me a heads up when it is. Haha that intro was great too, I am hoping Pac Man is what finally brings my wife down to the Arcade so that resonated with me. Good job Ralph!

She’s also obsessed with anything Sonic so that’s a plus... haha. She’s not really a gamer but she usually ends up having fun if I kind of nudge her to try something new. I hope they get the Pac man for you guys up in Canada. Maybe by then there will be a fix to reduce the audio level. It’s not crazy but I would prefer it be a bit lower. Just put some tape over the speaker holes , just leave one hole open . That’s what I do wit my ultrasaber .
My only issue, other than the lack of Ms. Pac-Man, is that Galaxian is not included. If it was, I would trade in my Galaga cabinet for this one in a heartbeat.

Did you check if all games had high volume or only Pac-Man? PDubs said Galaga and Pac-Man were loud but Super Pac-Man wasn't (when at 1).

I have a arcade 1up cab I put a dell 20” monitor in. What pc should I get for retro gaming. I have a retro pie at the moment but wot something to play all the other games. I watch your channel all the time keep up the good work lm in the uk.
Would love to add this, but having both of the gen 1 cabs already and a space issue makes it a hard sell. Plus wife is not so forgiving when I buy one. I have six and need more. Nice review. Oh and I modded both with the volume cause they were too loud.
The cool thing is you could sell or give away your old cabinets, buy this one, and still have room for another new cabinet.
my volume is super loud at 1 on my Star Wars cab too. Not sure why it's so sensitive. Hope they come up with a fix.

I sold my Arcade1up original Pac-Man today for $200 and have this coming next week. Not to bad since I got money for my old one, hope it was worth the upgrade.
These volume comments have me worried, thought that would be a non issue with the newer ones. I have a couple of the older cabinets and hate how loud the lowest setting is. Is their any way to fix this or any hidden menus like Mortal Kombat??

Oh man...I keep reading about resolution and now audio volume issues with this cabinet. While I wish the side art was the classic yellow, if the graphics are softer than they should be and louder than can be tolerated, there’s no way I’m pulling the trigger on this one. Was about to. Even cleared out the space for it too. Bummer!!!

Looks great awesome video as always. I find it weird though the whole backing out to save games.. I have the Partycade and it always saved even if you unplug it don't have to go back to the menu to save it... on a side note when are you gonna Mod a Partycade?

Yeah it’s weird. Star Wars saves your game immediately. I shut it down all the time without returning to the menu

Yeah the volume is crazy loud on my PAC-MAN from HSN which is the 4-1 w/ lit marquee and riser. Same high score save. How can Arcade1up send firmware updates in sold systems, USBs? Hmm 🤔

Thanks for the video Ralph! Mine was delivered on Thursday and is waiting to be put together. I was really excited about this one but am very disappointed to hear about the volume issue and that the screen is being cropped and is not sharp 😒. They’ve had almost 2 years to get this type of stuff figured out. Especially the volume, that’s just unacceptable. They’re going to be getting a ton of tickets from folks who want to be able and lay their game at a reasonable/low volume level and can’t. Yes, we can fix it ourselves, but that’s bull$h!t.
I think you got way more money than me, and I’m a Pac-Man fan boy. I just am jealous and now grumpy. I’m going to go play Pac-Man on my switch now… 😿
Yeah the high sound was an issue. I just bought an inline volume control and sorted that out !!!! Great machine overall though.

It’s a shame they removed Dig Dug from this release. I don’t understand why they took it out instead of doing a straight port from their sit down cabaret table to the upright arcade.
I hooe they don’t do the same with the Street Fighter port and end up eliminating Darkstalkers cause that’s gonna be a deal breaker for me
