    Lake Lanier, Georgia.
    Spring Striper Fishing -- This is the first time I've Cut Bait for Stripers in this area and it quickly led to success. Cut Baiting for Big Stripers can be a high effective yet underutilized technique. If you know where the Big Stripers are holding then cut baiting can lead to some big time success especially in "small" waters!

    Nice haul! Been a while since I hooked up on a striper, especially that size. We use to catch ‘em in the 25-30 pound range on the south end of Lanier while night fishing, using palm size live bream for bait.

    You went all the way up the river from. Balus! That was a cold boat ride. Glad to see you were able to make a video.

      I have a new 17’ center console. How far up the Hooch can you safely navigate in the murky spring water without fear of hitting rocks? I’ve never pushed past Don Carter State Park.

      @@jondean541 To be honest I’m not sure. I haven’t push it in my boat.

      @@jondean541 I've been all the way to Belton in the Summer in the same boat that Capt Jack is using. Definitely go slow though! It gets especially shallow when you get close to Belton. I'd say thats about the limit for my boat though.

    Awesome catch! I only fish at the southern part of Lake Lanier. At this time of the year, can they be caught there? Or are they still around in the rivers up north?

    • @theoriginalcaptjack
      @theoriginalcaptjack  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey thanks, absolutely, they all don’t go north. Fishing the lights, saddles, and reef poles at sundown, night and sun up works well this time of the year.

    did you see anything on the graph to decide to deployed the gizzard shad there?

    • @theoriginalcaptjack
      @theoriginalcaptjack  Před rokem +2

      Yes great question. There was a deep hole I came across; it was consistently one depth on my way up river then it dipped and went back up. Stripers are known to sit in holes to ambush baitfish.

    I may have missed you say. What water temp does this become effective.

    • @theoriginalcaptjack
      @theoriginalcaptjack  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi I’m not sure of the right water temp…i I personally think for these GA stripers it’s multiple factors to consider for best success. I would definitely use this technique once the dog woods start blooming….just might need to adjust what areas of the river you fish.

    Can I catch strippers all year round from different areas of Lanier shoreline?… newbie here.

    • @theoriginalcaptjack
      @theoriginalcaptjack  Před 2 lety +1

      Stripers from shore is not easy but doable. I’m sure stripers have been caught from shore each month of the year but realistically it’s going to be difficult in the summer months and more probable in cooler months when they’re shallow.
