Federico García Lorca. Canciones populares Españolas. -Anda jaleo. -Los Cuatro Muleros. -Las Tres Hojas. Los Mozos de Moleón. Victoria de los Angeles, soprano. Miguel Zanetti, piano.
Hola!
Two masters join forces. Victoria, as always is the voice Spain. She always projects the dualities of Spanish culture. Patrician utterances mixed an earthy spirit.
THANK YOU FOR THIS, Navarro Lorenzo. Her voice is instantly recognisable, whatever she sings.....and the voice is, simply, THE VOICE. I had not heard these before, so I am lucky.
+mckavitt13, in Spain the first recording, by La Argentinita, a star at the time, and Lorca himself at the piano, caught quite a lot of attention in its days. You can listen to it here in CZcams. I dare say it is worth it.
I can't understand why after such a long time CBS (Sony) has not released a CD version of her 1979 CBS Masterworks vinyl: M-35139 Victoria de Los Angeles Geoffrey Parsons, piano [LP] "Songs By Rodrigo, Moreno, Bautista, Albeniz" Nov-1979 Lorca's "Malaguena" (see also Shostakovich version) is here the version by Julian Bautista which is a true masterpiece of XX century spanish music... IMHO we are in presence of an inspired musician who is a peer to the great Manuel De Falla... at least for this very piece of heavenly and infernal music... Here there is the orchestral version recently put on YT but Victoria's and Parsons' interpretation lives in another planet... it will make you shiver... the atmosphere painted by Lorca is transposed masterfully in music by Bautista and epiphanized by Victoria and G.Parsons, God bless both of them Julián Bautista - I. «Malagueña» de "Tres ciudades" Op. 14 (1937) czcams.com/video/KL3EyCy4BKc/video.html
Qué timbre glorioso.

Maravillosa Victoria de los Ángeles
Excepcional y muy difícilmente superable. Muchas gracias por divulgarlo.
Victoria de los Angeles lleva el canto en la Sangre
How nice to hear her singing by these new medias. I heard her live more than 20 years ago in Tampere Filharmonia solist in Finland. She is great!
There is nothing to say. She is the greatest
musica buena es para siempre
She may not have been the fist to record these songs but hers was the first recording that caught both critical & public attention. Brava, Victoria!
