Hey! My name is Natalie and I love sharing about my life as a mom and homemaker/homesteader. Around here we embrace the coziness in the chaos and the magic in the mundane. I believe simple joys and a home filled with love (not STUFF) are more important than "keeping up with the Joneses." I'm glad you stopped by! I hope you find some encouragement and gentle motivation and a cozy corner of the internet that's full of peace.

❤ I started the process of decluttering 3 years ago, just before I had my first baby. Now, I have two and I'm so glad I started when I did!
so very rewarding! Worth every ounce of effort♥️
Yes same here. I started like 5 ish years ago. It’s going slow and adding a husband and kids into the mix is a learning curve but I’m so thankful I started then instead of like when my kids are way older
Yusss!! I started nine years ago and have been maintaining ever since. I think of maintenance mode as editing our home. As needs change so must the things in our home. Kids outgrow clothes, things break, become worn, empty, no longer serve us, etc, so they must go. I don’t like holding onto anything. I want the things I’m responsible for in my home to be manageable, so that’s why I prioritize decluttering. My husband doesn’t love being the one doing the donation drop off after work once a month, but he’s a good sport about it 🤣.
And I just heard you say “pre-teen” years and I about fainted. Been watching your channel since I was pregnant with my 9.5 year old first born, a couple months behind your boys. That’s where we are at, and it’s pretty unbelievable! Time flies, but to a really fun season of life. My 4th and littlest is 4 years old. It’s been fun to follow with kids at close ages to yours.
I’m definitely the kind that uses CZcams as some chill time 😆 I’ve been in maintenance mode of decluttering for a longgg time but I’m always inspired to find a few things to get rid of after these videos!
God job, mama! I can’t believe I started home schooling in 1989. That was 35 yrs ago😮 I see all the amazing tools available today and it makes me so happy to see our dream of home schooling growing beyond our imaginations. We now see, and help in Home Schooling our grand children here in Paraguay. God is so good!😊
❤ decluttering all the time, I've donated so much stuff. But just when I think I'm done in a space it needs more love.
Watching content has simply given me courage to pass things on or throw things away. A slower process but empowering !!❤
I’ve been decluttering the past couple weeks getting ready for a garage sale this weekend:) even the kids are getting in on it and I couldn’t be more proud❤
Oh good for you and those kiddos! It feels so good to get the kids involved and I found it becomes like second nature for them the more you maintain your space together!♥️
I'm not at the stage yet of having kids but have really been loving your whole channel for a good while now.
I'm in Australia and I really struggled in school in lots of ways and have (since a young age) always wanted to and looked forward to homeschooling my kids.
I'm 23 now and in the last year I have finally been pursuing getting more support in my life and am in the process of getting diagnoses including ASD and ADHD. You have been relatable in terms of both physical and mental health and having you being so open is one of many reasons I love your videos.
I particularly loved how this video was laid out and how you went more in depth about your processes for schooling and even the evaluation and preparation for it. Not sure the details of homeschooling options here but I hope there are similar options in regards to evaluation instead of standardised testing. I really love how you also made the whole process a positive experience as well, one of my struggles in school and even today is constant stress and I hope that if I pursue homeschooling when I one day have kids that I will be able to things similarly to you.
This video has given me hope and inspiration that it is possible.
Can't put all my thoughts into words but thank you as always for your wonderful videos Natalie ❤️
It amazes me again and again how your heart of gratitude and joy comes through when you do these declutter projects.
I find myself easily overwhelmed by stuff, to the point where I find myself procrastinating instead of just getting the decluttering done. And my family and I only live in a 2 bedroom flat - there isn't even space to have a lot of stuff.
But you - you don't complain about it, you don't sweat it, you get it done. And I have the feeling you are doing it with a thankful heart; that you GET TO go through your belongings and be a good steward of what the Lord has given you. Honestly you are such a role model to me.
I appreciate you a lot!❤
All the way from Austria, have a blessed day Natalie. 😊
❤ hi, Natalie, the blue shirt is definitely your color. You look so petty.💙. Grandma here raising my grandsons. I'm not home schooling, but i love your "messy to minimal " videos! In trying to get my house very simplified especially with my disabled back and I'm overwhelmed and i get frustrated because it takes me forever but i know as you say, " progress over perfection " and i keep repeating that so thank you very much for your videos. Declutter and organizing to simplify is what i need so bring on the videos for that please. Have an amazing week, and i will see you next time. Oh and i have to say i went back and started watching your series on decluttering your old house. They are helping so much❤
I can relate so much to your whole homeschool journey. Our whole family is 2e with adhd, and our oldest is also autistic (very Young Sheldon). That is the main reason we decided to homeschool actually, since our kids don't fit neatly in the standard school box. My oldest especially. He has been teaching himself high school level chemistry, and college level astronomy since he was about 6 (he's 11 now). But his writing is also atrocious and he struggles just to write a short paragraph, and his social/emotional/gross motor skills are a few years behind. So because his abilities are all over the map, we are SO grateful for the freedom and flexibility to meet him where he's at in each area, and let him learn and grow at his own, very unique pace.
I also relate to figuring out the organization of homeschool while teaching 3 kids. I wasn't diagnosed with adhd when we had first started homeschooling, and my organization was literally a haphazard mountain of books and papers piled high on a spare table. It was so overwhelming. Getting diagnosed, starting medication, and learning adhd friendly housekeeping has been life changing. It has empowered me to finally take charge of organizing our homeschool (and the rest of the house) in a way that works for my brain rather than organizing things the neurotypical "right" way. Your videos have helped me so much with shifting to a more minimalist mindset to manage adhd as well, so thank you!! The concept that the less crap you have, the less crap your brain has to deal with...totally changed how I think about all our possessions.
One more question I have is about the evaluation system with a teacher. We are part of our district's parent partnership, which is amazing. They offer testing for our kids every year starting in 3rd grade, and they make accommodations for my kids' extra needs. But they haven't mentioned an evaluation option, I really like that idea better. How do you go about doing that? (We are in WA too, not too far from you guys actually, so same state requirements).
And...hallelujah for experience making everything so much easier! It really does get easier the longer you do it! We are finishing up our 6th official year this year.
I’ve been recently watching your first Messy to Minimal videos so it’s so fun to see you do one for four years later! Also, thank you for the encouragement with homeschooling. My daughter is only 21mo old, so obviously I’ve got a few more years before teaching her structurally, but homeschooling is the plan and it’s intimidating at times to think about even though I was homeschooled myself and I have teaching experience as well. I always remember my mom saying, “Take it one year at a time.” None of us have to worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. ❤
Love the homeschool addition to your MTM series! I wish you would do more about homeschooling in general but I totally get why you don’t. I would just love tips and tricks to your system and items you recommend that have helped you along the way. I’m looking into homeschooling my twins when they’re of age too and I’m so interested in learning more. Thanks for sharing! So happy to see you are feeling better! You look beautiful!
I've taught at church's school, and I homeschooled my older son, so I agree with everything you experience. My 2 boys are adults now, and I'm not teaching anymore. It's amazing what each stste/school district requires for evaluation. I evaluated a family, and their school district don't require me to send written notes. Keep up the good work with your 3 children. They're getting the best education, and the time spent together doing book work as well as hands-on work will benefit them for life.😊
Yeah! We don't have to send any of our evaluations or testing in and there's really no regulation or enforcement of it.
But honestly, it's not difficult nor expensive to comply and I think in the process I show my kids an example of being a good citizen!
All of the documention and filing work also helps me personally get our ducks in a row and gives me a good idea of where we are and where we're going!
I homeschooled my girls so I loved this! My oldest graduated high school last year and my youngest graduates this year! I'm so grateful we chose the path of homeschooling and I'm so grateful we are done!
Thank you for talking about home school! As a new mother to homeschooling I would love more videos on homeschooling and organization and routine! Your amazing!
We just had to go through this entire process before moving to Scotland, but I know we’ll have round two once we finally get settled in. We’ve been feeling completely exhausted, but this video has made me feel motivated again! Hope all is well ❤️
you got this! All of the work you’re putting in now will be so worth it♥️
Welcome to Scotland! I hope you are very happy here.
@@karendunlop3534 Thank you! Couldn't be more thankful for the opportunity to live and raise our family here. I give it a 10/10 so far :)
❤ I've been watching your Messy to Minimal playlist while slowly re-painting my main floor away from a dark sad orangey beige color to a bright neutral white wall with light taupe trim while my son naps. The combo is really zen for me and uplifting my mental health. Thanks for this content!!
❤ not a single decluttering video missed on this channel from day 1. Big part of my life. Thank you, Natalie xxx God bless you and your beautiful family. Thank you for sharing the proverbs verse 🙏
I found this fascinating! My husband and I were both homeschooled and have always planned to homeschool our kiddos too ❤
My oldest is just about to finish kindergarten. We've got about a year and a half of homeschool under our belts now! ❤
I also live in Washington. I'm not familiar with the assessment you had the kiddos take, but it really piqued my interest. I was public schooled, so was my hubby; all this is pretty new to us, haha. I'd love to learn more about the assessment, though! I didn't realize they had alternatives to state testing. 😊
Also, I love watching your vidoes and how you do life. You're such an inspiration and someone I definitely have looked up to since before my son was born. Great job, Natalie! Will be keeping you in my prayers.
Also in WA! Basically, there are checklists or forms you can fill out to mail to a teacher to approve that your child learned and improved for the year once your child turns 8. It sounds like she brings someone in which is very interesting to me! I used to teach and I hope I don’t have to expose my kids to the long hours of testing as well.
Yes! There are many ways you can go about this! We chose the teacher assessment route for many reasons and it has been such a positive experience! As ThisOrganizedMother stated-- it CAN be something you fill out yourself and send in to a teacher for approval but we have such a great teacher that we found through a family friend who loves to do the evaluations in person!
While the assessment is to evaluate the students I've found it even more helpful in confirming, encouraging and evaluating ME as the teacher! She always has really great feedback and suggestions!
Homeschool ‘supplies’ and ‘extras’ has definitely been my biggest stumbling block in regards to declutterring, letting go, and living more simply. I’m finally starting to get better at it. Thanks for the motivation!
I get so excited when a new video comes out. I've been watching for 2 years now so I am going back and watching your older videos. I love the peace in your voice and of course the motivation. God bless you on your health journey❤️🙏
My husband is getting out the army next year and we are going to move cross country from Alaska to new Hampshire so this is my year not to bring things in and declutter to the max. You are my motivator!
You are such a great person, so positive and motivational. Thank you for all that you do for your youtube community!
❤️Having systems for organizing and finding things and getting rid of things definitely gives me more capacity to cope and keep going. I don’t think I will go as far as wha y’all have. But I love your constant reminder of “keeping it simple” and not overthinking it.
I love these videos! They make me feel like I'm not the only person who has areas that get out of control and need to be purged periodically. Thank you for sharing these messes with us.
❤ I always love your Messy to Minimal episodes. When you were changing your schedule to posting fewer videos, I started to rewatch the older episodes on Tuesdays. 😅 By the way, I'm a teacher, too, so this one especially spoke to me. 🙌🏻
You're so sweet! Thanks for rewatching as I've taken more time for my family with my new schedule! That's so supportive and I'm so grateful! 🩵
Oh man, the homeschool stuff is always so overwhelming to sort through. Thanks for the inspiration!
❤ Glad to see you up and moving around after your last video! I can’t wait to see what you declutter today! 🌷
❤ It‘s so good to have a decluttering buddy, I‘ve just started another decluttering round at my home.
So glad to have you here! Thanks for being MY buddy! ♥️
❤ Love messy to minimal! Great job as usual. Hope you are recovered from your health scare. Sweet, sweet family ❤
I just went through our homeschool stuff this morning. How timely 🤗
❤ Yay!! I love your Messy to Minimal declutters!
I love having you here for them!♥️
I know you feel a weight has been lifted, organizing and decluttering. Well done 👏 💙
Oh man I NEED the motivation today. I have to clean up from having family in from out of town and do some garden/planting work. Today I’m also particularly tired because my babies kept me up a lot last night 😅 so do what you do Natalie!! I need it lol 😂❤
Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m new to homeschooling my kids and this was so encouraging. God bless!
I commend you with the home schooling! It’s so awesome that you all can do it and you are equipped to handle that daunting task!! Hope you are feeling better!!
I just did the homeschool room clean up today a month after we finished finished school lol 😂 it feels so good! ❤️
Such a wonderful proverb, it really spoke to me! Thank you ❤️
❤️ Always enjoy watching you declutter and your commentary ❤️
I love the motto progress over perfection
❤️my favorite kind of video on your channel…Especially your homeschool area. I think it’s such a sweet space. .
❤ Hi Natalie! So excited for another one of your videos! 🌸 I will be back to finish your video 🌸 Finished your video! Packed with a lot of great information 🌸
In the best way possible I can't get through this specific video in any great hurry. I keep pausing to go work on something in my house, declutter, or organize something! But I'm okay with the motivation it's providing! Thank you for the gentle encouragement! I'm a new homeschool mom and about to have a new baby, and trying to figure out where to out all the homeschooling stuff, plus new baby stuff has been overwhelming!
Just wanted to say how lovely you looked today, you had a glow! The color choices you make were fabulous! Hope you have a fun during the last few weeks of school! 😊
❤❤❤ love your messy to minimal video's. Hope your feeling better xx
Thank you for your vulnerability ❤ it was a beautiful moment.
Really enjoyed this declutter and reorganise video. Progress brings peace of mind ❤
Congrats to your sister on her new baby! Not sure which sister it was, but what exciting news! 💕
I am genuinely so glad to see some decluttering content 🤗 It always comes from a gentle place of purging on your page
❤ fabulous! Needed that motivation 😁
It’s so true! Just finishing our fourth year and it has gotten so much easier.
I know what I’ll be doing next weekend! Great motivation I needed Natalie!
♥ Love declutter videos! We are slowly working on our home as we are in the "senior" season of our lives. I'm in my 20's and 30's in my mind, but time says otherwise. One place at a time...baby steps. I told my hubby...just one area and set a timer. It's better for him to not get everything out and sort, so that is what he does. I give myself a set time and work in small sections, too, but if I feel like it, I will go for a longer declutter than him.
So excited for this one, Natalie! I haven't been able to declutter thanks to a super busy season of transition but an hoping to start back soon. This video is the perfect inspiration! God bless you, my Sister! Praying for you and your family! PSALM 103 💖
In CHRIST,
Christis Joy
P.S. You look STUNNING in that lovely blue shirt! 💙
I am diving into my first year of homeschooling this coming school year my son will be in 2nd grade and my daughter will be in the pre-k/k :) I am nervous, but so excited! This video and many of your videos give me so much encouragement! :)
❤ thanks for an excellent chat😊 you gave me a few good tips I'm going to try this coming school year. We certainly do learn from each other🌻
Hope you’re feeling better!🙏🏼💜
❤ I love homeschooling videos! We start in the fall and I’m really excited! ❤
Yay!!!! So exciting! have a wonderful summer ☀️♥️
❤ I absolutely love your videos. I'm working on decluttering our house, and I've chosen to go with the religious exemption route with homeschooling.
the zoboomafoo reference lol my daughter is obsessed with that show. 🎵 we're going to the closet, we're going on a trip, we're going to the closet to grab our stuff and split
It’s so interesting to hear how different homeschool laws are state to state. I’m in Florida and it’s very different. I love homeschooling and wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m blessed we have been able to make it work for our family. My key is to keep it as simple as possible!!! Just graduated my oldest and she’s headed to college. One down two to do!!!!!
Yeah! This was not an in-depth overview of our requirements, just what I'm working on today!
I feel like you JUST got the school room all set up! It’s crazy how time flies. Though around the beginning of the school year I had a year old and found out I was pregnant with twins 😅 now I have a 19 month old and 3 month old twins 😂 (yeah my timing is a bit off I don’t remember exactly when everything happened lol) that will make time go by real quick lol
Great video ❤
Love you throwing Wingfeather in there! My kids are huge fans as well! 😍
Somehow my 2 children have filled 3 boxes with home made crafts this school year that I will need to go through at some point. Glad for some motivation.
❤thank you Natalie!
I would love more content for homeschooling and your experience too!!
I needed this 🥰
❤ I love a good messy to minimal
That color blue of your blouse looks so good on you 🙂
I'm about to start working on my office to get ready for next year's homeschooling journey.
Great, timely topic--thanks, Natalie! 👍🌻
I’m glad you enjoy! Thanks so much for watching♥️
❤ I look forward to your videos!
Glad you are back. Hope you are feeling much better. You look great!! ❤
Thank you! I have good and bad days. Happy to film on this good day!♥️
I wish you many more good days! 🙏
❤much needed motivation
❤ Always ❤ these videos .
❤❤ thanks for inspiration.
Love your videos and the decluttering ones! I assume you will have your back to fall series back this year… my fav!
♥️ I moved from a 3 bedroom 1 bath into a motorhome! Talk about a small space. I have a 10x10 storage bin. Working on getting though that! I’m
I love learning how homeschooling works. Do you have any videos that focus solely on that , the details and the process and the how-to of anyone is interested in learning how to homeschool their children?
Well said Natalie. I was hoping it'd be that verse that you said lol 😆
Yes! All the homeschool STUFF is exhausting !
❤❤❤ I love your videos so much ❤
❤ Ah, the nerf darts 😊 Love the name Judah!
A fun activity for you and kids - collect the paper, blend it and make new paper sheets - it is not that hard and it is a fun activity for everyone. There are many videos how to do it and you dont need much.
❤ love your videos ❤️
can you do a video on how you plan the year for the kids?
❤ Great job
Clutter does creep up but I'm so grateful I don't feel afraid to move things on.
Yes!!! 👏 So freeing!
I have the same bins. I use one per child and maxed out the older one's with grades preK-8th.
❤️ loved the video very motivational. Hope yr doing well xx
❤ I need to go through my homeschool shelves -- I just RETIRED after 19 year! My youngest graduated two weeks ago. I will be selling my stuff.
Hoping this means you're feeling better! 🥰
I have good days and bad days. If you see me filming, it’s probably on a good day and I’m so grateful for them!
@@NatalieBennett Praying for more and more good days for you ❤️🙏
Bound paper books, yes! ❤
Game changer!♥️
Love your videos bestie and Weston sending you lots of hugs
thanks so much♥️
You’re welcome friend you’re doing great job uploading
❤I declutter old saved clothes for when I lost weight. Well, I have..30 pounds! Sorted, kept some and donated the rest.
You can change the track of those bins for shelves, it'll be easy to grab and put away the bins.
That’s a great idea!!
❤ listening while working late. I am a bookkeeper who just branched off and started my own business. :)
