I saw him in London in the early 60s in a small dinner room. I guess he was in exile. After 2 or 3 songs he asked for requests. There were 3 or 4 and he looked right over at me, sitting close by. I yelled out, "sing You Win Again". He lit up and nodded and sang it. I think he loved that song. It was always my favorite and although the great Hank Williams wrote it that song was destined to later be sung by Jerry Lee. He truly made it his own and Hank would be proud.
That's funny! Yes, I agree. I wish Jerry Lee had recorded more of Hanks songs. I grew up with them and Jerry Lee has the soul for them.
Kent Twitchell :^) YOU ARE CORRECT, JERRY LEE HAD THE SOUL TO DO HANK'S SONGS REALLY WELL!
+Kent Twitchell Thanks for sharing that story!!.....you made his night by requesting that beautiful tune!!!

My hero! Friend of Elvis and 25% of the Million Dollar Quartet!
Even his off key parts are ON KEY for me.
When you're in Memphis do hit his Café & Honky Tonk for a memorable night out. You might even get lucky and the great man turns up!
My brother and I saw him at the Edmonton Regal, London in 1958 and many times since in Europe and the USA. He's still a kind and gentle man - with a wild streak and that's why we love him.
🎼 A 100% GENUINE ORIGINAL AND WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN 🎵 🎹 🎹 🎸🎤🎶
I never get tired of the old songs, nothing comes up to the artists of years ago, very few today that can do the job.
Hi Carol
I love Hank Williams and Hank Jr. singing this song, but I also love Jerry Lee Lewis singing it too
The ol Killer can whip an audience into a frenzy or sing a ballad and put a tear in every beer. Best piano player and singer who ever lived.
Hello how are you doing..?
According to his sister, at age 8, Jerry sat down on a piano bench and started playing just like that. No lessons, no music teachers or how to play books. Just pure born with it talent.
