इस सीरीज तक दोनों ही टीमें अच्छी थी, और यह हैंसी क्रोनिए का आखिरी इंटरनेशनल मैच भी था क्योंकि इसके बाद उन पर मैच फिक्सिंग के आरोप लग गए थे. जिस वजह से उन पर लाइफ बैन लग गया. इस वक्त पाकिस्तान की टीम भी बड़ी खतरनाक हुआ करती थी लेकिन 2003 वर्ल्ड कप के बाद जब तीन बड़े मैच विनर्स वसीम अकरम, वकार यूनिस और सईद अनवर को रिटायरमेंट लेनी पड़ी तो उसके बाद इन तीनों की भरपाई आज 21 साल बाद भी पाकिस्तान टीम नहीं कर पाई.

But then the skipper was changed, I don't know why and the same team badly faltered in the world cup 2003...

The 1999 team under Wasim was the golden team of Pakistan. After that they had a infighting which caused it's downfall as you could see its effects in 2003 wc.
