Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico is Mexico's emerging wine region, and biggest provider of wine in the entire country, yet alone Baja California.
After spending the day in Ensenada (last episode: âą ENSENADA, MEXICO Trave... ) tasting the incredible Fish Tacos, Seafood Tostadas and delicious Margaritas, we made the short drive to Valle de Guadalupe. Continuing our Baja Road Trip, "Valle" as it's known locally is said to be an amazing place to take a wine tour, so that's our plan!
We start off at one of the best restaurants in Valle de Guadalupe, actually, one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! La Cocina de Doña Esthela is the most recommended restaurant in Valle by all of you in the comments and on Instagram (thank you)!
The speciality of La Cocina de Doña Esthela is the Borrego, a slow-cooked sheep that melts in your mouth (and makes you want to rip your shirt off). If you are ever in Valle de Guadalupe, add this restaurant to your travel plans.
Next, we decided to start our wine tour at the Baron Balch'e Winery. It is home to an amazing underground wine cellar with some bottles of wine costing $500 per bottle. We did a great wine tasting with an English speaking wine connoisseur. We tried four different types of wine in our tasting, and all of them were great. Come to Baron Balch'e Winery for your next wine tour here in Valle de Guadalupe.
For our second stop on our wine tour of Valley de Guadalupe, we went to Decantos Winery. Decontos is a newer, more modern take on wineries in the region. Decantos also featured a wide variety of Mexican Wines. The real kicker at Decantos is the patio to sit out and enjoy the beautiful views.
Now, we were hungry again and decided to go to one of the best restaurants in Valle de Guadalupe, Fauna Restaurant, within the Bruma Winery property. We had 7 courses, over 20 dishes of incredible food and I cannot recommend this place enough (if budget allows).
Things are definitely more expensive in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico (compared to other Mexican Vacations) so take that into consideration while planning your Mexican Travel Plans.
We finished the day at our Valle de Guadalupe Airbnb, Casa Frida. An incredible property dedicated to the Mexican Icon, Frida Kahlo.
This is my perfect itinerary for 24 hours in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico.
Have you ever been to Valle de Guadalupe?

Thank you all for watching! â€ïž If you enjoyed this video, be sure to check out the first episode from our Baja Road Trip here:
All my guest from France or the USA had been left speechless with the Guadalupe Valley. They don't expect this kind of place to be in Baja. My explanation is Baja is as Mediterranean as Italy similar weather not only grapes but olives, figs, pomegranates grow so well here combined with some of the richest ocean waters in the world you get great wine, food weather and Mexican hospitality. đ€
Mexicans have to be one of the most welcoming/hospitable and generous people I've met in my life. I've been to Spain, but unfortunately I honestly did not feel welcome. No offense to Spaniards watching.
Being coined as the âNapa Valleyâ of Mexico, Valle de Guadalupe has been producing fine wines for a number of years and is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
The reason why thereâs a mirror in the ceiling is because when Frida was bedridden, her family put a mirror in the ceiling so that she could paint her portraits while she was looking at the image in the mirror.
Valle de Guadalupe is not the Napa Valley of Mexico, or the something of something. Is the Valle de Guadalupe itself.
The reason there is a mirror on the ceiling at Casa Frida, is because she was bedridden and most of her self portraits were painted while laying in bed. She used the ceiling mirror to see herself for her selfies.
I love how Tadeo makes Gareth laugh such great personalities both of you đ
BRAVO. The station manager for AeroMexico in Las Vegas showed me photos of his nephew's wedding in one of the wineries. This, for me, is a must go location. Vive Mexico and its fine people.
No denying Dona Estella's breakfast is good but there are 100s of establishment s in the Valle and Ensenada just as good or better than as that of Dona's. Ensenada is a hidden jewel with its fresh seafood, best wines, delicious craft beer and perfect year around climate.
This is the beauty they don't want Americans to know about gorgeous
During my childhood, I spent my summers in El Valle de Guadalupe and had no idea how rich and amazing this region was! My family lives 10 min away in a neighboring rancho. I havenât visited in ~7 years and this video made me really want to go back asap! Thank you for this video đ«¶đŒ
This has to be one of my most favorite videos by Gareth. Those places look awesome. The descriptions were perfect and the food was making my mouth drool. I can't wait to visit any of those places. Thanks Gareth for opening my eyes to a part of the world I never knew existed.
I knew this Video was going to be the best one. I'm from Tijuana. We have many treasures here in Baja. So much talent, effort and love that it expresses through great food.
I've wanted to visit Valle de Guadalupe for some time now. Thanks for the recommendations and gives me a starting point. Baja CA can be such a treasure that many Americans don't realize.
A womanâs cooking is the way to a mans heart. đ The food looked delicious. đ I ended up having a glass of wine with you guys. Cheers! đ·đ
Wow!!thank u for sharing the best part of Mexico, the food, the people and their culture..watching here from đ”đenjoy!!
La Cocina de Doña Esthela is seriously amazing. I've had the pleasure of eating there a couple of times and LOVED it.
We visited valle de Guadalupe and Rosarito this past summer and fell in love with the area specially the weather since we live in Phoenix AZâŠ
Got the chance to eat at Doña Esthellaâs and the food was amazing there. Also visited Balchon and Decantos, great choices and I highly recommend people to check out Valle.
