    IMO Cotton and Tea don't really deserve to be in D tier. Cotton, while not particularly versatile, is what supports the production of Clothes, which are basically always in high demand and thus very profitable if you can support them. It's good for starting up an industry if you don't have better RGOs, I'd say it's C tier.
    As for Tea? I dunno if this is a problem unique to modded Vic2, but I have yet to play a single game in East Asia where I don't end up with Tea replacing other, better RGOs multiple times... or a single game where I thought "Yes, finally, now I have access to Tea!" upon getting some. In theory it feels like it should be D tier, but it's E tier in practice.

    Liquor, wine, and if you have the tech, luxury goods are all very profitable, which is necessary for craftsmen + capitalists to get paid. Overall, I’ve found that going for end-of-the-line goods when manually building up industry is most important, because the sooner the capitalists get rich, the sooner your industry construction can start exploding. Although my playstyle does prefer building genuinely wealthy nations, and this is not necessary for a militarily focused player.

    I am always defending the poor aristocrats. Firstly they increase the rgo output of the province and secondly which is way more important in my view is that they can actually influence your nation through the upper house and help you get the kind of storytelling you want. Want a liberal country ? Easy make the aristocrats liberal ? Want to play as an absolute monarchy easy! Just make the aristocrats go all the way reactionary and quell your rebellions in blood. At least tier D for the storytelling

    Shit creators on one tier with farmers. Le Cringue

  • @jutm_n5969
    @jutm_n5969 Před rokem

    1:22 artisans can be actually quite good early and mid game, because 80% of their income isn't sucked up by capitalists, which means that until late game, they usually get more of their needs fulfilled than craftsmen, and are better for the economy, since capitalists usually have a lot of money available (with high factory profits they can afford most of their needs, and low factory cost for them means most of their money is just in banks). Also artisans don't need factory maintenance goods, nor factory buildings in the first place.
    1:48 same thing happens with aristocrats, except rgos get profitable enough for that to happen late game, more specifically, once tractors get invented (1880). Though for the most part, they serve the political function if you have appointed upper house, since luxury needs fulfilled = high consciousness = liberal upper house = reforms
    2:14 since slaves don't have any needs, and don't get any income, it means that the farmer/labourer and aristocrat pops get more income, so they can afford more of their needs early in the game. But still, if there's a high percentage of them (or if they even exist), promotion is a lot slower
    2:38 from my experience, capitalists build very great factories, as they base it on the demand of the good. Just don't have tariffs (if you import anything) and they'll usually be profitable. Another great thing is that they build cheaper than the state, from 30% in state capitalism to 70% in laissez-faire, that's massive, since building factories as a large country can cause some big issues with construction materials. They also have lots of money available, so if you encourage them, you can boost demand for their needs quite a bit.
    3:00 the 30% factory output they give is quite massive, for comparison, you get around 22% from techs, for all of those you need to wait until 1900, while you can get clerks from day one. I like to use my focuses on clerks once i did bureaucrats clergymen and soldiers, since factory efficiency is an important metric in the game
    9:06 liquor and wine (along with regular furniture and clothes) are probably the best factory goods in the game until electric parts and other goodies get discovered. All your pops consume either of them, and the resources are very common (wheat and fruit are found in basically every single country, glass is also pretty much available, mostly because of artisans)
    12:56 clipper shipyard more like clipper shityard

    8:00 Actually inflation is - in a way - modeled in Victoria 2. Precious metals go right into the government treasury, which can then be spent on goods which go into the pockets of the pops and effectively putting more money into circulation. With the increase in specie, pops are more capable of acquiring luxury goods which will raise their consciousness, causing them to demand even more goods ergo raising the price of items due to demand exceeding supply.

Vicky 2 over the years quickly became my favorite and although I might have more hours in EU4/CK2/HOI4 I never quit playing Vicky 2 and it's never left the top spot as far as favorites. Love the era most of all. As Vicky 3 is here in about 1 1/2 days, I've been playing a lot of last games in Vicky 2 vanilla. Just in preparation for Vicky 3. I'm sure I'm one of those fans who is going to hate the new war system and probably be somewhat disappointed but Vicky 2 is so old and out of date I also don't see myself going back to it. I'll probably just move forward with Vicky 3 despite my issues I will inevitably have and that's okay. Great lil vid. Thanks guy!
