In the former situation, the person(s) has everyone's vaults, but they don't have passwords. So unless you have a REALLY insecure password that they could just guess, you're fine. The encryption that's toughest to get through is not the vaults themselves, but the passwords to them.

Even stealing a device would just get it remotely wiped and blacklisted from the VPN.
