Hey Jacob funny I was in Jim Thorpe and at the Junction the same. Upset I missed you. The Haunt you thought was there was actually on the main road. You passed it when you turned left into the lot. It’s called the Waldorf. They filmed Hell house movie there. There are many haunts near by. You can actually hit 4 in a night if planned right

I was born in 1955, bit learned about Jim from a 1952 movie, "Jim Thorpe - All American, starring Burt Lancaster. Jim was an amazing person, but toward the end of his life he was living in poverty. His gold.medals were stripped from him because he played professional sports violating the amateur status. Sometime in the 80's the Olympic Committee restored his medals (replicas) and said they made a mistake in removing them. He was not treated.fairly and now doesn't even rest on Native American land. He deserved better than he got. 😢

But they somehow argued that it didn't apply and would take too much effort to move the body back.

Jim Thorpe- I’m 41. I remember learning about him in Social Studies/ History in elementary school. So late 80s/ early 90s. I knew football and THE best Olympic athlete ever. Which I still think is true. I did not know he was a baseball player. I knew he was part Native American.

When the '84 Olympics were coming up, I had a very good teacher who used that opportunity to teach a bunch of kids about Jim Thorpe, and tell us his story 30+ years after he'd died. (Didn't hear about where he was buried, or the family dispute, that's sad and kinda gross) It was more to share the story of his triumphs and his ability to overcome. I never knew a town named themselves after him. Thanks for the rest of the story.
