ROAD TRIP | Driving over Geiteryggen pass in the Winter - Norway 4K

We start the Road Trip over Geiteryggen pass from Aurland along Aurlandsfjorden and Vassbygdevatnet, up Låvisberget, through tunnels to Heimrebø in Aurlandsdalen which it follows to the county border at Geiterygghytta and then follows Sudndalen in Hol.
In connection with power development in the Aurlandsvassdraget, a road was built from Aurland over the mountain to Hol. The road opened in 1974, but was originally open to general traffic only in the summer.
The stretch between Strønde and Hol was previously signposted national highway 288. The road was opened to Flåm, originally signposted national highway 601, in 1987 and on to Gudvangen when the Gudvanga tunnel opened in 1991. Between 1991 and 2000 national highway 50 was the first and only ferry-free road connection between Eastern Norway and Bergen. In November 2000, the Lærdal tunnel opened to Aurland, and highway 50 ended at Fossheim in Aurland.
