Madam, Dr.Sarita Pathak Yajurvedi, After retirement I have been learning Karnatik & mostly Hindustani music (8 teachers) for about 10 years..I have Scale Changer Harmonium, electronic taanpura, & tabla,Notes,.X-rox materials,. library of more than 500 books (Ratnakar, RaaNa Kumbha, Pt. Bhathkandeji to Present day, Hatras Sangeet magazine, music books from Hampi, Varanasi, Allahabad, Prayag, Gwalior, Mysore, Ajmer, Bangalore,Gadag,Delhi, Chandigarh,Mumbai, Pune etc in various languages. ........But I was not able to grasp anything. It was mu-sick.! A big Zero.. I have been desperately searching for a teacher who can enlighten me, such music lessons as yours.. In vain, I was about to stop learning music.,like Naysa (as per book by Dr.A K Dey the book I liked very much) according to ancient authors- Not on last note but Nyasa on my Music itself. .Now I got what I wanted . (learning Tal also) A novel , exhaustive, all in one systematic learning. What a clarity. Ultimate in teaching. Nobody can teach better than this. I got full confidence now. Now I Can never dream of stop learning music lifetime. I am grateful and should thank you from my heart for kindling interest in music.I am pursuing music vigorously. Now life is interesting... ....... .We expect more such lessons on more and more ragas. . .. Thank you madam.🙏. ... K V Mallya Bangalore.

A dated reply, but may help others with a similar need.
Some important points, in English, as told by the teacher (!). I would have loved to have such a teacher!
      Summary points in English
It is a very important raga because its bhaav (mood) can be found in use in many other forms of songs like dhrupad, khayaal, taraana, geet, ghazal, bhajan but not in tumri or dhadhra and is also more famous as sarang raag. Its origins can be said to be from the kaafi thaat.
There are five swaras used in this raga, in aaroh and avaroh - sa, re, ... , ma, pa, ...., neee. There is no use of 'ga' and 'dha' in this raga.
This paragraph is not from the video but a derived interpretation. Quite possibly, linguistically, this raga caused the vidhwaans (the learned) to name the donkey (the animal that makes the most excruciatingly ungainly and ugly sound in ugly tones) as 'gadhaa'.
The 'vaadhee' swar is 're' (the 're' is more powerful, prominent or stressed
or commands the flow of the other swars - in this context, it commands 'ma') and 'samvaadhee' (accompanying note - accompaniment) swar is 'pa', a kind of a minister that helps minister the other swars.
A raga is made of what is called swar sangathee (compilationof swaras) or swar maala ie., the stringing of the seven swaras - sa, re, ga, ma, pa, dhaa, ni... - within the rules as defined by various parameters like thaat, bhaav, bandhish, tehraav, alaap etc. (Aaroh - ascending) Ni, sa, re, ma, pa, ni, saa
saa, ni, pa, ma, re, ni, sa (avaroh - descending) so the 'ni' is 'komal' (subtle soft) till it reaches 'ma'dhyam; in aaroh, the 'ni' is shudh (clear)
This raga is best sung during the mid-day due to its mood that is melodious, bubbly and decorative but not serious as it is believed that one's mood is lighter during the mid-day although others say, this raga's mood comes out well in the 2nd half of the day.
This raga's speciality or essence is in the 'ni' that is used in both forms - shudh and komal. Raga 'Sur malhar' is close to this raga.
The emphasis swara in this raga are in the vaadhee and the samvadhee swaras, obviously, as well as on sa, re, pa. Even when tuning the Tampoora (played in the background), they are tuned on the 'sa' and 'pa' swaras (hope this is correct :p).
Aaroh and avaroh simply form a template for the raga. For a raga to be recognizable in its form (like a constellation), the swara formations, their modulations, their movement from one swara to another, the starting swaras manipulations and vocal renditions (as in a komal or a shudh form in an avaroh or aaroh) are important to be followed as per the defined rules of the raga.
