I used to think bl3 was the biggest example of missed potential in a borderlands, but then they kept updating it and it now has arguably the best endgame out of the franchise. Wonderlands however Is the quintessential example of wasted potential. The game has some of the most fun builds, with some of the coolest mechanics with spells and items. There are more ways than ever to become strong and make crazy item combinations and even more absurd combinations on class mod skill points. However there isn't really much to do once you get there. The chaos chambers are fun, but they don't feel like you accomplished anything when you finish one. If you want to farm gear you just speed run one with a broken build and can get tons of legendaries of random chaos rarity that most likely will not be what you are looking for. If you want to farm a specific item, they have improved dedicated drops but at the same time. You still have to gamble each legendary drop to not just get good parts, the right element, but also a chaos rarity that for the highest level one is absurdly low chance to drop. In order to get the best item the chances are beyond low and with no end game there is not a real reason to look for that perfect item. And don't get me started with the issues I got with chaos levels and the chaos rarity drop chances as you progress the chaos levels. I could rant about that for an hour.

BL3 did very good with the release schedule of the DLCs, every three months..to keep the game fresh. I wasn't a fan on the level cap releases though, they were too drawn out. I still haven't maxed out my characters on the last level cap.
that's not it. the dlcs are beyond disappointing. they have every opportunity to make great dlc but all of them are just special chaos chambers. they have a game where you can make anything happen yet you waste it on something that's already been done beyond death

Would love for you to make a "Perfect Borderlands 4" video, where you analyse the best form every game and what things you would add/remove from the rest. Maybe could be a series? One episode you talk about endgame and drops, the other is a brainstorm of ideas of where it could take place and the playable characters.
Just throwing some ideas, It's very difficult to like the franchise with how many weird and bad decisions they take that opaque the rest of the content!

I’m right there with you. I took the blightcaller to chaos 20 before I was just like” what am I doing this for?” To get to max level to run chaos chamber more. And no this gambling simulator is not like other borderlands games for the record.
I've said it before but, no matter what you think of this game over all, you have to admit that the environments, weapons and enemies are absolutely beautiful. Top notch
I’ll be honest, I think that Gearbox needs to give Wonderlands a full fledged dlc over the small things they’ve been giving it. And it’s need to be… About the same level of helpful as The Handsome Jackpot and Malian Takedown were for Borderlands 3. An outstanding and entertaining DLC, and a wonderful raid activity with an awesome raid boss.
Just add an extra random spawn raid boss throughout one of the maps, and have the last boss of a full fledged DLC act as the second raid boss. Or literally any type of entertaining end game content. I felt zero incentive to keep playing after I beat the campaign. I got to Chaos 20, and then was too bored to do it again with all the other characters. Maybe someday I’ll go back and beat the campaign with the rest of the characters, but I’m really hoping they add some substantial EG content to bring players back.
I love how in wonderlands everyone just need to have two shots to make you down.
I’m glad to see more of you playing wonderlands. I just wish there was more to do in game. I feel super restricted in what I can do post game because it’s all the chambers
Brightcaller looks fun but I have to agree with u that Wonderlands endgame is basically non-existent. U can say what u want bout bl2 but there were things to do at endgame and bl3 theres like alot of options. Wonderlands endgame gets sooo boring and frustrating for me cuz ur doing the same thing over and over again and it isnt that fun after awhile. That's why I haven't played it since my first playthrough was done

Dont get me wrong I played the shit out of bl2 but digistruct peak was as much of an offender as chaos chambers and to me is worse even though there were not as many levels and then you had raid bosses. Tying raid bosses to chaos chamber was a terrible idea
@@jaredwilder9474 True Trials and Take Downs, raid boss at the end of all of them. K6 has said this in multiple videos......BL3 has quite a bit of endgame without season pass 2.
There is end game its just not challenging the boss runs in the new game actually have a level of difficulty to them that's what I was getting at bl3 you can play through with a blindfold on.
fully agree. i recently got back into wonderlands (and had the most fun dlc 3) and find there's not much to do, after you max out a character. there's 2 trees you get access to ( think there shouldve been 2, so you'd get 4 total trees to do stuff with) the dlcs that we have, compared to what people expected from the title that arguably has the most potential creativity attached to it.
so, in short
-wasted potential
- build diversity is nonexistent
-loot can all be gotten from the chaos chamber
-there's too much chaos chamber
-dlcs were not worth it
seriously, how can you go from one of the most liked dlc as a concept, and morph it into whatever happened here? decent story, awesome sections, etc. to the list above? im not ready to outright give up on this game- after all, bl3 managed to getr some decent endgame stuff- but the devs don't seem intrested in the community at all

You could complete the shrines, and try to get all the other permanent buffs for your character. That's what I did to get to lvl 40. And then I saved good to great loot in my bank, so I didn't have to do the Chaos to get the good weapons at the beginning.
Glad you are playing this game again, hope they can keep working on it and make it just as good or better than borderlands 3
I’ve finished Borderlands 1 like 5 times, I’ve beat Borderlands 2 about 11 times, Pre Sequel 5 times, and Borderlands 3 3 or 4 times. But I’ve only finished Wonderlands once and have little to no interest in repeat playthroughs. I really did fear that Wonderlands would become the next Pre Sequel. I certainly hope Borderlands 4 can do it right.

I also took by nerf by bunker master for my blightcaller. Having -16% crit chance is heavy setback but I think its worth
I figured out how to access the wonderlands endgame.
1. Eject the disc
2. Put in BL1/2/3 and enjoy
Blight-Caller is fun. But soon as I reached Lv40 and beat the story. My endgame is starting a Jakobs Allegiant Amara on BL3.
Wonderlands Endgame is quite simple... start a Borderlands game. Maybe 2 or 3
This game is going to be the main reason I hold off buying borderlands 4 until there's some gameplay and loads of reviews from normal players. I bought it release day and played through once. Restarting twice since and not making it past queen's gate. For a universe that could of done anything, ie handsome jack coming back or really funny dialogue like the small amount of dialogue we got from the dwarves in AODK. I'd say we all got shafted.

@@RealKorean yeah literally -8 for 14% or sum like that I believe, it's absolutely nothing and you deck out whatever stats you need with a base +2 even to things you never touch.
on top of blight just being an insanely fun class and now my favorite, I'm so glad they made an elemental based class not just specific, poison, dark, ice and lightning from the other classes.
Yeah the point you made right there at the end is why I haven’t played since the second mirror, there’s no end game after you’ve ran 1000 chaos chambers and are sick of it…..
They do need an end game content but I think they're getting it. Love the blightcaller, I tried it with the grave born and had a good time.

The thing is…the game could be great. Add some Takedowns…add some replayable side missions like Arenas in BL 3 and BL2 ….add something that is more like a Destiny 2 dungeon that virtually requires partners…add some story DLCs. Add some fantastic events like the cartel event or even a headhunter raid boss pack. This game is a great start but it’s too small and the DLC‘s ridiculously short. The DLCs are not a take down, not an arena, and not even close to any kind of real dungeon fight. The game has GREAT potential if they want to take it there. Unfortunately, it appears they just don’t. It just kind of smells/feels like a minimalistic cash grab….And that is really unlike Gearbox.
That last minute or so where you had an existential crisis about Wonderlands is real. Literally played up to the last mirror and just realized I wasn't having fun anymore

Story DLC and a level cap increase with it is severely needed with this game. Like come on, this is a fantasy setting. There is SO MUCH you can do with story based DLC. It's literally a no brainer
I don’t think a level increase is good for Wonderlands, the skill trees are pretty small. But otherwise yeah, it’d be nice for some bigger DLC with hopefully some alternate endgame to play. Everything so far has stacked on chaos chambers, which is good if you like chaos chambers. If you don’t, then what?
@@eddiemate If they were to increase the cap, I think a good compromise would be adding in the ability to multiclass a 3rd class. More build diversity and it'd make a level increase more worthwhile. And agreed, chaos chambers need to be toned down severely. I get there are some people that like endless dungeon crawling but there needs to be an option for the players that don't.
Couldn't agree more with what ay said toward the end. Had a blast with a new play through with Blightcaller, what a cool class. But once I hit 40, it was back on the chamber grind and finishing the DLC. Still have 10 levels of chaos chamber to go and a bit of gear farming, then I am right back to what to do now.
Wonderlands reminds me of the pre-sequel, except better potential story, just overall samey sadness from the lack of end game.
As a relative newcomer to your channel who has only watched your BL2 and 3 content, it's so evident just from your tone of voice throughout this that you're less than enthused. But while I haven't looked at Bl3 after finishing it once (having spent hugely, like an idiot) I have to say, this looks great and I reckon I'll have a diverting time with it in a year or two. 😞Same as it will be with TW3 Immortal Empires campaign. Thank you though, for your time and effort!
the part after 17:58 sums up this game so damn good. you want to love the game (cause it actually has great potential), but you just can´t. chaos chambers are nice, for like the first 10 runs, after that it just feels repetitive and laking.

I've honestly had more fun doing wild encounters up to level 20 before reaching the hub than doing the chambers. I don't know what's wrong with them though to be honest. On paper it sounds amazing. Random map, random enemies, with increasing difficulty with loot at the end. But for some reason it gets stale and repetitive and I don't know why. It isn't the modifiers because they are completely optional. Between the chambers and the thought of grinding up my loot luck again I just can't pick up the game anymore.
Your ending about endgame... I felt that.

I feel like I was catfished into buying the season pass back when they released the first mega patch alongside the first "dlc". The first patch note announcement was so good, and there was all that downtime. With all the effort they put into that patch, I figured there was no way the "dlc" wouldn't at least be decent. Feels like getting ripped off by an MLM.

@@Ki11ersix intention and result don't always meet. I feel more ripped off by all the bugs that I saw popping up as well as the same bugs that were there since launch without anything big to make up for it.

having each of these small, barely even headhunter pack sized DLCs each be about $10, the same cost as what we got from previous games like Dragon Keep.
Or $15 for BL3 DLC costs.
… Yea, they didn’t really adjust the price to the content that was actually there. If it was $5 each then they’d have been better off.

I feel you. I parked this game. I LOVED it in the beginning. But once I got to the end ofthe campaign and up to Chaos 13 I couldnt see the point anymore so I shelved it and went back to BL2 & 3 and even presequel

Totally agree with the endgame. My meele only Brr-Zerker is stuck on lvl 33 as i finished the story and lost joy of doing chaos chambers back and forth… now i‘m doing a playthrough with the brightcaller and am really enjoying it, but he‘s probably gonna end the same way as your playthrough and that‘s just f-ing sad 🥲

Totally understand, I really love borderlands but wonderland...I wish I can love it more.
I think it’s stupid that if you die during the “dlc” or “plc” you restart the run all over again. It’s literally just like chaos runs. They keep copying and pasting content. That’s not what borderlands was ever like.
Borderlands 3 has multiple amazing dlc storylines and so does borderlands 2 and so does borderlands one. Heck even the pre-sequel has story lines in its “post launch” content. Need I remind gearbox that of the countless hours people spend enjoying true dlcs like the hammerlock dlc. Gearbox you’ve strayed away making decent content with wonderlands and it’s extremely frustrating. Joltzdude139 and killersix and many other people have the same perspective. Gearbox needs to put more effort into this if they want returning fans to even come back to this game.

I have to agree with you, I want to love TTW. Best of luck on your journey. After watching you play BL3 again that sparked my interest, so I've been playing around with builds I never tried and trying to be creative with some unique builds there. Maybe I'll give TTW a few months or so, and give it another go.

As sad as it is to hear out loud, I'm glad people like K6 are prepared to say what we're all secretly thinking - there just isn't anything genuinely fun to do at endgame. Chaos Chambers got old really fast, there's no TVHM, and there's very little incentive to optimise your build past grinding Chaos Bunnies.
I've returned to BL3 and I'm having an absolute blast, yet at the same time it reminds me how far from greatness Wonderlands is. It could've been amazing. Instead, it's just... there.

It’s so sad that this is a game the fans have so much passion for and want to enjoy so badly, and the devs seem to just decide to make it an experiment to run into the ground.
So i know this might come off as negative but the fact that 18 mins can be summed up as the fun part but it only needs 30-50 seconds to explain why lategame isn't worth investing time into rlly struck me cuz i rlly loved playing wonderlands the first time, like it was very fun and as soon as chaos chambers became a thing i just thought if there would be coming more afterwards but the dlc ( or PLC as gearbox likes to call it) doesn't even extend the playtime for an hour even if all 4 mirrors are played one after another. It hurts to say but wonderlands feels like a try that was given up on before it had a chance

I only know of one way to fix the dedicated drop problems? They would need to add all the loot luck from dices you have collected and add it to the start of your character? They would also have to multiply it the percentage by 2.5 or 3!
or... just use the system we've always had. 10% drop chance for each item Right off the bat. Loot luck just boosting world drops.

It just seems like the devs felt the game wasn't going to sell well or be received as well as it was and they were like " meh, DLC, why waste the time. Lets just do the bare minimum". Sad really as the base game is fun but the end game and other activities get very stale very fast.
I agree, with the end game being all chaos chamber, its fun at first, but after so long it gets repetitive and boring. then they increase the max chaos level forcing us to do even more chaos chamber. and the expansions in gonna call them are like what 20 minutes long and they were 15 bucks each or something, with 4 making that 60, you can buy a whole game for that and get way more content for that price, I lost a lot of respect for gearbox after this let down.

If you can get it on sale, go for it. The base campaign is a fun little time but the endgame is seriously lacking for a borderlands title. The season pass is insulting
Honestly i think going forward this game needs to add mechanics of a sort for endgame like destiny style maybe even at a raid boss that requires at least one other person that requires you to activate the dps phases and not give them immunity just to give them immunity

I been playin borderlands since day 1 of the first game its one of my all time fav games but GB has taken so many steps backwards i silently fell off the series after a few months of UVHM in BL2. They have taken a few steps forward but so many things keep piling up its hard to get into the series again with all the op mayhem level bs i dont wanna regrind every gun multiple times jus to have like a dozen even be viable for endgame.
I think for BL4 they need to look at what made the game great which is primarily the loot. I dont exactly know how it works now but when i left bl2 legendaries only dropped from bosses pearlescents were literal garbage worse than blue guns and 99% of all guns were unusable due to enemy health regen. BL1 loot system wasnt perfect but man it actually gave you a reason to open chests legendaries had godrolls but the godroll was like 5% better not like a double penetrating unkempt harold doing literally twice the dmg of a regular one. Purple guns could always be decent even great like double anarchys but BL2 had entirely useless manufacturers.
The perfect loot system i think is a mix of 1 2 an 3. 1 had the best part system imo while thumper barrels sucked on smgs it made for vastly different loot but no dedicated drops made the rng not rewarding. A hybrid of both systems allowing chests to actually have good guns and a way to farm specific items would be perfect. 3 has took the weapon gimmicks and made them actually interesting as bl2 made entire manufacturers unusable like bandit and most weapon types like hyperion snipers maliwan pistols ect completly worthless due to scaling. I want all 9 og companies to come back with a a quirk and every weapon type to be viable.
For example tediore never makes snipers, what if they have a bow that digistructs an arrow around a sniper bullet and boom you got bow n arrows in borderlands in a cool way, tediore usta make revolvers but switched to repeaters in bl2. No one ever shoots tediore guns they only reload em so why use a pistol when smgs do the same job better? What if tediore pistols were revolvers and instead of throwing the gun you throw the revolver chamber like a fastball. Maliwan assault rifles could function like lasers smgs are plasma casters, Shotguns work like fusion rifles from destiny while pistols can charge to use more ammo but can fire with 0 charge time for 1 ammo. I have 6 gun types Pistols Shotgun Sniper AR SMG and Explosives either rockets or like breach loaded Grenade launchers. Every manufacter can make guns of each type even jakobs but the weapon gimmicks are almost all perfect from bl3.
Jakobs has ricochet headshots and faster relods from headshots. Tediore is perfect but with a few changes pistols are revolvers an snipers are bow n arrows. Dahl has alt scopes that change zoom level and sometimes go from burst to semi or bigger bursts. Vladoff has insane rof with a chance to not consume ammo. Some guns have a belt fed mode were they shoot from reserves at 2 ammo per shot and can overheat. S a S munitions has big ol mags underbarrell attachments like vladoff had and their guns slowly reload overtime like autoloading holster from destiny. Hyperion has the shields torgue has gyro jets n sticky bombs. Maliwan has dual elements/ changing projectile types like from plasma balls to lasers. I dunno what atlas exactly does i was thinking they could have different aspects of all the other manufacturers as they were the first to open a vault and then licensed out the technology to the other corporations.
The elemental system has almost been there for me. Slag was a joke it was mandatory and radiation feels jus like corrosive. I think 6 elements is the right amout fire frost shock corrosive explosive and a purple element like eridium that makes enemies periodicly explode like the volatile debuff from destiny. This element wouldnt do as much dmg as the others but each of the little explosions would spawn tranfusion orbs so instead of moxxi weapons or grog weapons you have an entire element of healing but its not instant health so true lifesteal guns and class skills can make it so the element isnt needed like slag. Shock needs a massive tune up simply make it chain lightning to nearby guys and cause mini lightning strikes so its still usefull on single targets, explosive isnt jus on torgue but its not as op as in bl1. Fire does alot of dots corrosive does around the same dmg but the tick rate is slower cryo does a lil dmg over time and slows but once frozen you shatter the enemy for the bulk of the elemental dmg.
Class skills i actually want GB to take a lil inspiration from destiny. Destiny has zero skills that like improve your smg dmg or stuff like that most their skills alter your characters base moveset like new mele abilities supers ect. I dont want borderlands to completly go away from the percentage increase skills but i want a mix of way more mele abilities different action skills ect. I think borderlands should have 4 classes a siren hunter soldier and berserker each with a unuique double jump 3 different meles and action skills split up in 3 skill trees. The skill trees would have even more ability augments for the special meles but your not required to have that mele so you can mix and match trees. For example krieg shoulda had a single use buzz axe not in his super and after thrown you could pick it up like titans hammers from destiny.
I can go on for soo much longer but i dont want this this to be ridiculous.
I actually think borderlands should take some lessons from bungie. Destiny has its own problems but some things they get jus right.
They need matchmade activities were you change difficulty basicly chaos chambers but they also need raids some arena mode a strike like mission were you do lil mobing light platforming and end with a miniboss, gambit would be dope in borderlands. They usta have pvp with duels a pve race to a boss melt were the enemy team can invade and deny progress borderlands needs some varried endgame content. Destiny also has a cool mod system of killing enemies in specific ways to spawn these elemental wells that recharge your abilities can give ya dmg buffs healing or warmind cells were enemies drop nukes that you can blow up or these orbs of light that store a buff to be used on specific effects. Basicly destiny has this minigame within the game of spawning and harnessing these extra resources that makes the gameplay real fun imo. Borderlands eventually turns into this number game were you jus pump up dmg. I want some other mini gameplay loops i can engage with that test my skill more than my rng luck with random rolls.
I kinda wish you could just make new characters max-level if you've already completed the game. Borderlands campaigns waste a LOT of your time making you stand around and listen to people talk before you can do anything, which makes replaying them a chore.

God I get sad with wonderlands. It is so close to greatness but given how gearbox has doubled down on the plcs they are unwilling to put in the resources needed to get wonderlands where it needs. I feel like wether or not the borderlands franchise dies will hang on the next mainline game. Until then for anyone burned out of borderlands check out a game called Black Ice it's tron meets borderlands and even in early access is very good.
I truly thought chaos chambers would just be a flavor of endgame. Not THE endgame. What sucks is, they are a blast to do and I could totally see them being a part of BL4. But I fear that’s exactly what GBX intended - to see how Chaos Chambers worked as an endgame activity just to hold out for BL4 in general. Sigh.

(took me 3 days to get it done) only my graveborn (stuck on chaos 30 something) and clawbringer remain (wich is sitting at level 20/30 when i eventualy got bored) and now the game for some odd reason decided to 1 shot me at random (on the lowest difficulty no less) on all characters. so i'm probably done playing BL for the time being (BL3 is just boringly easy, TTWL feels bugged and well, not much to do and the older games... well... feel old without the sliding and mantling)
They bring in new content. Get you excited to be powerful. Then nerf it for “balance”. Back to being weak as fuck.

Im just going to wait until the Chaotic Great edition is $40 or less, maybe by then the end game will have actual content
I have not played wonderlands since the first week. I don't feel like making new characters when I can switch classes. Chaos Chambers would be fine if I had somthing else I could do. I like the tone, weapons, skills, bosses, but I have no desire to play it.
Very upset that all the comments I read speak of a bad endgame and that's sad for a game in the borderlands franchise. Bl1 we had crawmerax, bl2 we had tons of end game bosses and challenges like digistruct peek, voracidous, etc. I saw wonderlands was coming out and was so excited but I'm glad I waited to buy it. I hope in time they fix what could potentially be an amazing game. The content and gameplay mechanics look great, just wish there was a reason to grind for that max level and good gear.
I've lost most hope for this game, hard to see them walking away from the PLC content strategy at this point. They don't have the funding to make big story dlc's for this test project. They already made their money back and pumping more cash in to this sinking ship is probably not gonna happen
